Styles of The Year by Hinano Yoshikawa
In this editorial, Hinano Yoshikawa and Shigeo Shidara explore and review the various Japanese fashion styles of 1996. They utilize brands such as Hysteric Glamour, Nepenthes, Louis Vuitton, Ozone Community, and even feature a dress with a print from Emilio Pucci. Both of them explore made-up personalities, such as a woman inspired by the likeness of a store clerk dressed in Vivienne Westwood, and a neo-yankee girl who expresses her love for life. They review the popular waves of both high-end fashion and what was common on the streets as the year ended.

The Heavy Hitters of Harajuku & Their Homes
This editorial in particular focused on some of the key figures of the Uraharajuku movement, which heavily dominated the streets of Harajuku at the time. From UNDERCOVER's Jun Takahashi and his obsession with elephants and the Eames lounging chair from Herman Miller, to BLANKEY JET CITY's Toshiyuki Terui describing his nocturnal, hermit-like process in which he came up with many of the band's songs.

“Samurai Girl” by Julie Watai. One of my favorite photobooks in my collection, the photo work and direction from Julie Watai was ahead of it’s time and quite possibly influenced some of the aesthetics of the y2k and cyber movement revival we see quiet often today. Described perfectly by Julie as Spirituality & Technology For The Moe Consciousness.
