a while back i saw a picture @mllekurtz took in the gardens of Villa Taranto and really wanted to do a little study of it. then inserting everyone's favorite wizards into the potential picture was suggested, so naturally i no longer had any other choice but to go through with it. it truly looked like a dreamy garden somewhere in Exandria and the wizards fit in too well 🤌

I kinda want to bring up the parallel I see between Caleb and Liliana. They don’t have much to do with each other, but it’s odd how similar their stories could have been.

Liliana was having strong powers and left her family to seek answers, where she found a teacher who helped her. The teacher helped her control her powers and also proposed new ideas to her, he manipulated her into believing them and joining their cult. She attempts to hold onto her family but she gave them up in order to be by her teacher’s side, even though it may appear that she does not support her teacher, she is so far gone into the cause and his thinking that she can’t escape without breaking a part of herself.

Caleb went off to school and found he was naturally gifted at using his magic and he was encouraged to by his family, he found a teacher who helped him. His teacher helped him understand how to use and control his powers, and also tries to manipulate him along the way. He also attempts to hold onto his family during this, but is forced to have his loyalty tested in order to stay by his teacher’s side. Unlike Liliana, he breaks and everything his teacher taught him unravels and he became a shell of a person.

I know this might be reaching, but I just found it interesting how similar they are. Liliana is how Caleb could have turned out if he stuck by his teacher’s side, he could have been sceptical like Astrid was, but he would have been too far gone.

there's a shadowgast fic idea which bounces around in my head which ill never probably write but it's based on other sg fic where essek is in the acceptance stage of realizing his and caleb's lifespans are vastly different. like in human terms, elves are almost immortal. the quote that goes something like "youll spend most of your life loving me, ill spend the most of mine remembering you."

i wanne see essek still in the anger, in the denial, in the bargaining. doing desperate things to soften the blow. like stealing the happy fun ball. finding the time chamber and putting the setting fast inside and the slow outside. going through a reverse halas. when he's off researching alone, he spends his time there during breaks and during his studies. trying to waste as much time as possible. burning weeks and months inside the halls while only days pass outside. he has a thousand years left to live but none off that means anything to him if his friends and his love are gone. the desperation. if he can't get caleb to try appealing for consecration, he'll burn as much of his lifespan so that they'll get gray hairs together. but it wont ever work. none of it would be enough. but he still tries.
