Maybe if this were the old shell of herself, the one who held no poise nor some semblance of confidence, she'd have shrunk away from him. Not because of his manner of speech nor the way he holds himself, but because of her fear of being unable to. Because she's certain if that old her was here right now-- he likely wouldn't have even reluctantly let her help. And the old her wouldn't want to push it.

But here and now she stands, blooming beautifully like a nurtured flower, a sense of confidence in her ability to help along with more calmness to her nerves. After seeing her dearest friend again and knowing she could visit any time... it's like there's a new vigor too her energy. So as they remain within the white walls she knows all too well while she helps recover his memory, she holds no doubt in her mind she can help him.

" Not... entirely. But it did play a role in it. It all really started when I was just an average fifteen year old n' I was salvaging and just trying to make ends meet while sending money home so my family could go to school. It only takes a second to remember most things about his life beyond his earliest childhood years. " It was after we fought this guy named Malos and we beat him that... we began our escape because the World Tree had been collapsing. I remember rushing with everyone to get to the escape pods, and once we crossed the bridge, before Pyra n' Mythra could get across it broke. I wanted to just go over, to try and see if we could bring them over but no matter how hard I tried nothing seemed to work. "

Upon his own thoughts reminding him to breath he takes a deep and steady breath when he starts continuing on. Golden hues glaze over lightly and glisten like the stars above as the moon reflects it's light down on them. " They'd been plannin' on sacrificing themselves to save Alrest from the World Tree collapsing on top of it. And... And I tried gettin' one of my friends to help me but... then she told me that Mythra n' Pyra made her promise to not help me, 'cause they knew. I begged and pleaded but everyone told me that they'd made their choice and I had to respect it. I... I didn't want to. I wanted to help them,. I didn't care if something happened to me 'cause I was scared to loose 'em but... we eventually had to go to the escape pods. They fused their crystal together, taking the piece of crystal out of my chest and their chest and... and made it whole as it floated into my hands before we left. "

He looks down at the ground before sighing. " And as you can see, we have new more secure land. They managed to save Alrest and... they returned to their crystal. Within a few minutes after escaping n' being safe, their Crystal started to glow again. And they formed in front of me once again. I think that was the first time I'd cried so hard in a good long amount of months as I ran up to them and hugged 'em. But yet.. even though they're fine, that day haunts my nightmares along with a few other things but, that'd be the main thing. I was so scared... I've lost enough people in my life, I can't handle the idea of loosin' more. And especially not them. "

It feels childish, foolish even, to be haunted by it when he did everything he could. When he did everything to the best of his abilities and to still feel such rawness within his heart as it wrenches in pain at the mere thought of that day and the idea of loosing them. It's not his fault but, he cannot help but feel a guilt sowed deep within his chest for those he did not save, those who he nearly lost. For even thinking about being selfish and trying to stop them from sacrificing themselves or getting them to escape with all of them. He is no hero, for in a world where if he had to choose between all of his loved ones lives or the world, he'd choose the ones he cherishes every time.

In spite of the hardships and trauma, he preferred to put a happy face on it. The preference did not equate to an escape, but more as a means to deal with things easier. Over time, he learned that strength wasn't just about how much damage he could deal with his fists.

Pouring his heart out to Rex just now wasn't an easy feat. Each time Law talked about his family, he reopened old wounds. Back then, regrets and guilt often got to him, that not even meditation and training could alleviate his heart of the burden he had to carry for the rest of his life.

But with this newfound strength, he hoped he could help Rex ease some of that burden off his shoulders as well. Sometimes, all someone needed was an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on. Law hoped he could be that kind of friend for Rex, whether it would be tonight or sometime soon.

"The World Tree?" Law echoed, crossing his arms against his chest. "I did hear you mention that a few times, but I guess there's no better time to talk about it than right now, huh? But if I have to make my own guess, the World Tree's the reason why things became a problem for you guys over here?"

POSSIBLE GLITCH??

it looks like there's a site wide glitch going on where tumblr's making people randomly unfollow people for no apparent reason?? not only that but the MUTUAL CHECKER seems to be a little wonky as well. i'm hoping @changes will talk about it tomorrow in their post talking about any changes, fixes, upcoming, and news.

that being said, please make a post talking about tumblr glitching and that you're working on re-following your mutuals. i also recommend maybe reblogging this to give everyone a head's up about the situation because i've already seen a couple of people fall victim to this glitch tonight ( myself included! ) in the rpc.

" Namine stammers out, she feels bad herself now, she should've been more welcoming than that! Though... her interest is peaked when the other says she recognizes her, she wonders how for a moment until it dawns on her when Sarah says 'someone's friend'. For she knows this isn't a friend of Sora or anyone she knows at least to what she's aware of which means-

Yep, it was Noctis! Her dearest friend ever, she feels... happy he talked about her, she's glad to know he still has remembered her even after their departure from one another. " Wow... yeah that for sure rings a bell for me. It's been a good while since I've heard the name though from anyone else besides myself. Well... probably because out of my other friends I'm the only one who met him to my knowledge. He helped me a lot... I'm really grateful to him. He means the world and more to me honestly. "

Namine softly smiles at the memories of him even despite the guilt of what she did still lingering on the memories... he knows if she could've that she wouldn't have done it but also she wouldn't change the past for the life of her. Because that's what's led her up to now, to her truest version of herself. And she's content with that.

" He... he talked about me? " She says with curiosity, as anyone else would. " If it's okay to ask... what'd he tell you about? "

A part of Sarah was relieved that her memory and intuition didn't fail her, but now she wished she should have had come up with a better conversation starter than this. Moreover, Naminé looked like she was deep in her thoughts before Sarah came into the picture.

Ah, I should've held back my excitement. She placed a hand against her chest, her expression sheepish. Maybe asking that wasn't the best first move. But since I've already asked... She then took a deep breath, her smile gentle towards the current stranger.

"You're absolutely right. This is actually the first time we've met. I'm sorry for dropping the ball like this as soon as we met." She glanced at the ground for a moment before her eyes met Naminé's again. "Well... it's not often I see someone I'd recognize in a whole new world almost right away," she explained. "I guess I got too excited to meet someone's friend."

Her smile widened as the nostalgia started to be the leading emotion in this exchange. "Believe it or not, I know your name because I've managed to befriend a prince from another world. Does the name 'Noctis' ring a bell for you, perhaps?" While he didn't say much (as expected from someone of his taciturn nature), he said enough that let Sarah know how much Naminé meant to him.

For once, Noctis didn't find it as much of a struggle to get a birthday present for Naminé. It might not look much at the surface, but it was a tangible sentiment of everything they went through together.

The gift was a fishing hat was an embroided letter N. on its side, along with an embroidered sylleblossom next to it. Attached was a letter that read:

Sorry if I can't be here in person. Writing like this is still pretty awkward for me, too. I'll make it up to you next time. You probably know how through this gift. I still won't go easy on you in our next fishing battle.

Her hands gently hold the present with such a soft smile as she looks at it, her eyes filled with nothing less than pure and utter joy upon seeing her gift from her dearest friend. The hat embroidered with the letter N and the embroidered syblleblossom as well... oh he's put so much thought and care into this. Just as she had with his gift.

When she reads the letter her eyes water from her happiness... reading it is nothing less than pure joy to her entire being. It may be awkward but yet in the same breath it's perfect to her, because he put his authentic thought into this and that in itself means a lot to her. But then again, everything they've gone through and have dealt with together means everything to her. She truly cherishes the bond they've built and flourished.

She sniffles softly with a warm smile as happy tears slip from the corners of her eyes... she's truly touched by this so much. And although he can't hear her and this is only a letter... she softly whispers out her appreciation for him. " My dearest friend... you're just the best honestly. Thank you... for everything you've helped me learn and thank you for being my dearest friend too... I don't know where I'd be without you. "

A soft chuckle leaves her mouth as she reads over it again and remembers that they have to plan a fishing battle sometime soon. She knows he's not going to go easy on her but... she's not going to just loss so easily either!

" Can't wait to meet them sometime, I'll be sure to inroduce myself as imaginary fishing buddy ehe~. " Giggles escape Namine's mouth when saying it, it's so nice to joke with him once more. But also... she does appreciate the fact it was what he liked talking about the most, because those moments were some of her favorite.

Her honesty and outspokenness was new to her as well, in fact she feels as if she's more confidant acting like this when with him. It's not as if she doesn't trust her other friends to act like this around with no, that's not it at all. She just simply found that he's someone that she feels she can trust with the deepest parts of her. But yes, all of this newfound outspokenness, confidence, and so much more was definitely a result of everything she'd been through to say the least.

" No, not just you I feel like I've known you forever as well. ...Buuut that might be a little bit because of what happened back at Castle Oblivion. The rest though? I think it's because we came to understand each other, that we ended up becoming some of the dearest of friends. Or at least, you're one of my dearest friends. " There's something more soft spoken about it compared to what else she's said, for there's obviously guilt still lingering from what she had done. But at the same time? She does feel like ever despite it, they did genuinely bond.

A small hum leaves her mouth as she processes his words, for she can understand them, she offers him something with her own wishful thinking. " But they have seen it for themselves, and I bet they're PROUD of you. While... they may no long be here in a physical sense. They're forever in your heart and memory, so, think of it as them seeing it through you as you live on your own years. "

Her smile is tugging at her lips evidently once again, to hear him talk about Insomina... it felt so sweet. She can practically see the love he has for his people and rebuilding the place, so how could she not just smile at that. Though when she mentions his friend Gladious, she lets out a laugh, " Oh? Is he really that tall? Jeez then, looks like I'm gonna have to hope on your shoulders in order not to break my neck when I'm talking to him. "

She shakes her head, smile still adorning her face, " No, it's far from selfish honestly. I understand why you'd want a momento of this moment. I'd... probably be the same if I were in your shoes. So yeah, feel free to consider it yours Noct. "

"Are you kidding me? That's what I liked talking about the most. They even thought you were just some imaginary fishing buddy. No matter what they'd say, I'm still proud to pass down my prowess to a friend who actually sees the greatness in fishing."

If he was ten years younger, he could have taken more offense in his friends' long-time disinterest in fishing. But times have changed, and so did his own stance towards the relentless teasing of his pals.

Whether it was age or the inner peace from liberating the world and oneself, everything simply felt... lighter. Any semblance of happy ending was far from reality, so he was simply happy; the same kind of happiness when he drove on the Regalia with his best friends not too long ago.

Her outspoken and honest nature was still quite new for Noctis. When they last met, the words she spoke displayed her bravery. But now, she exuded confidence and determination that could have been a result of whatever she went through.

"Heh. I'm honored to be of such great importance for you, then," he bowed in jest for good measure. "Can't believe we only spent time together at that Castle, but we feel like we've known each other forever. Or is that just me?"

Gazing out into the skyline, he couldn't agree more with her sentiment. "This is what the people who gave their lives for Insomnia, and Eos as whole. I just wish they could've seen this for themselves."

The statement was wishful thinking, even for a King for him. But it still showed how there was some of that youthful optimism that lingered despite the time passed.

"Not to brag, but the city's pretty big, and there's a lot of places we can visit. The fountain is a good start; always a picturesque place." He folded his arms against his chest. "Can't believe there was a time we walked around here on foot. Sure, we slept from time to time, but I kinda underestimated how large Insomnia was."

A chuckle escaped his lips. "No can do. I have to live up to the standards, including height. Heh. Wait till you meet Gladiolus, your neck will hurt from trying to meet his eyes," he stated with an exaggerated excitement.

"Hmmm~ Yeah. It might be selfish of me to say, but I'd consider it as some kind of memento, that this actually happened, you know?"
