Yay, unsolicited advice time! Or, not really advice, more like miscellaneous tips and tricks, because if there's one thing eight years of martial arts has equipped me to write, it's fight scenes.

Fun things to add to a fight scene (hand to hand edition)

It's not uncommon for two people to kick at the same time and smack their shins together, or for one person to block a kick with their shin. This is called a shin lock and it HURTS like a BITCH. You can be limping for the rest of the fight if you do it hard enough.

If your character is mean and short, they can block kicks with the tip of their elbow, which hurts the other guy a lot more and them a lot less

Headbutts are a quick way to give yourself a concussion

If a character has had many concussions, they will be easier to knock out. This is called glass jaw.

Bad places to get hit that aren't the groin: solar plexus, liver, back of the head, side of the thigh (a lot of leg kicks aim for this because if it connects, your opponent will be limping)

Give your character a fighting style. It helps establish their personality and physicality. Are they a grappler? Do they prefer kicks or fighting up close? How well trained are they?

Your scalp bleeds a lot and this can get in your eyes, blinding you

If you get hit in the nose, your eyes water

Adrenaline's a hell of a drug. Most of the time, you're not going to know how badly you've been hurt until after the fact

Even with good technique, it's really easy to break toes and fingers

Blocking hurts, dodging doesn't

free resources to write a novel in 2024

hello hello! it's me, rach!

as the new year approaches, many of us set goals and resolutions - myself included. one of my goals for 2024 is to write a novel (I've been procrastinating on this for quite a long time now). i assume that some of you might have the same goal, that's why I'm writing this post today.

over 2023 i've been releasing some freebies for authors just like me, so I thought I could compile my favorites in this post. hope you find this useful :)

1) the writer's workbook

this workbook has over 60 exercises to help you develop characters, scenarios, etc. if you're ever stuck, I'm pretty sure this workbook will be your best friend.

2) author's corner (notion template)

this is the most downloaded freebie in my shop! it is a notion dashboard with everything you need to organize your writing and has some templates included (like scrivener)!!

3) another notion template

this one has two themes you can choose from: cottage-core and dark academia. they're very similar to the previous template, but this one is more recent and I added some new features. feel free to explore both and pick the one you like the most.

4) the author's journal

this is a cute printable with 20 pages that will help you stay on track and manage your social media accounts as a writer who shares their work online. you can also register what you're currently writing and your personal research and resources.

5) plan your book printable

this is a 6-page printable for you to fill out and plan your book easily and effectively.

6) excel sheet to organize tasks & word-count

this is a simple excel sheet, but it is very effective for keeping track of your tasks & word-count of your novels. also, it is 100% customizable to your liking!

If Change 2561 wants to make bank, the need to sell the series with full director cuts on all the episodes. If they do that, I'd be screaming "TAKE MY MONEY!"

This was the full nc scene of episode 9! They shared it at the final episode Premier in the cinema. I posted it before, but some were asking in my ask box,but it's making a resurgence cause of the pictures still being released from this scene!

OK! I've been enjoying a lot of the Thai BL's that have come out this year. Pit Babe, Last Twilight, and of course The Sign. So, even though two of them are not quite finished yet, what comes next? What kind of story should we do next with our favorite boys?

Up first, PavelPooh or PoohPavel, whichever you like. I'm wanting them in a traditional love story where Pavel is friends with Pooh's older brother, like a BL version of Hidden Love.

Secondly, Last Twilight. I have been in love with JimmySea since Vice Versa and they just got better with their second outing. I'm wanting forced proximity mixed with enemies to lovers. I totally think they could pull off forced to work together with a bit of You've Got Mail/Shop Around the Corner.

Last but not least, BillyBabe! What to do with these two? I think they do great as a bickering couple. Kind of like the couple that burned super hot when they were young and then broke up, but still care about each other. And get together again as adults to try one more time. Lovers to enemies to lovers, like My Girl Friday.
