The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home
She鈥檚 a faceless old woman who secretly lives inside everyone鈥檚 homes but is never seen, only voices where she is or what she does through the local radio show and she鈥檚 fucking amazing. Ran for mayor once. Tried to assasinate the mayor who was elected. Also has a book describing her backstory. Does she technically have a body? I鈥檓 not sure (haven鈥檛 read the book) but either way, we only ever hear her voice and like, zero description of what she may look like in the podcast aside from not having a face.

The Audio Logs
Scattered throughout the island are recorders with messages on them. They're quotes, from various thinkers, philosophers, scientists, poets, and so on. Usually they're making a comment on the surrounding environment, or the themes of the game.

ship of theseus? no. jockstrap of sidney crosby.
sidney's whole thing around his superstitions and rituals is all around this standard he holds to himself, right, that if everything is the same and there are minimal external variables that even have a chance of influencing the game, then his success or fail is attributed solely to his abilities. the win or the loss comes down to how he plays - no room for excuses....
that's why he his equipment stays as much the same as possible, right - the skate shoes, the underarmour, the freaking jock....repair over and over and over again, keep it the same
but just like the ship of theseus, the paradox is "whether or not a ship that had all of its components replaced one by one would remain the same ship," -> Dana Heinze in 2007 about Sidney's stupid zombie jock telling everyone that "everytime we make an adjustment to this, we have to keep a piece of the original cup"
AT WHAT POINT IS IT NOT THE ORIGINAL CUP ANYMORE. IS THE RITUAL AND SUPERSTITION NOT IN KEEPING THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, BUT IN THE ACT OF REPAIR??? could we not argue that it is not the same pre-rimouski cup anymore that he wanted to keep? did it not stop being the same once every part has been replaced at least once??? is the superstition now simply the act of keeping it for as long as possible and replacing it eternally for as long as possible, like how deep-sea jellyfish are eternal????
let it finally rest, sidney, please god let it rest. it's not about its weary, physical bones anymore. you can let it rest in wholeness - the spirit of it will not die. your ritual of it is not about its physical presence anymore...your superstition is in the constant, frankenstein-esque revival of its soul......
you鈥檙e holding on to a corpse out of fear, not love 馃槴

The Voice of Christ
This is a bit of an unusual one, because the whole point of the novel is that the missionary priest Rodrigues never hears Christ speak, until right at the climax of the story. Rodrigues is forced to watch Christian converts being tortured, and is told the only way to save them is to renounce his faith by trampling on an image of Jesus. Finally, for the first and only time in his life, he hears the voice of Christ speak: "You may trample. You may trample. I more than anyone know of the pain in your foot. You may trample. It was to be trampled on by men that I was born into this world. It was to share men's pain that I carried my cross."

The Voice
I鈥檝e always found the voice in Teletubbies to be quite iconic
Dr Alistair Grout
Dr Grout is Malkavian Primogen of Los Angeles, that is, he's leader of the vampires of clan Malkavian in the city. When he goes missing, the vampire prince of LA sends you to his mansion to find out what happened. The place is full of tape recorders where he records his musings on the nature of vampirism, the state of psychiatry, and his growing paranoia about some mysterious figure he fears is coming to kill him.

Propaganda for AIDAN (the illuminae files)
He is quite literally THE disembodied voice. Residing in electric devices he never actually gets to interact with humans closer than watching them as well as being forced to murder, and do it A LOT. There's a lot more going through his mind than simply what he says and even THEN he talks a lot. Not only is he a disembodied voice but a voice with a lot of trauma and personality. He can be funny (although at the wrong places and wrong times), but most of all he's incredibly charming, and doesn't wish harm on humans - actively being made to protect them
