It might as well have been mandatory, considering it was one of the only ways he could even slightly appeased his partner when it came to helping with those damned kids. (If he didn't do it, who knows how long Stitch-face would put up with their shit?) Damned? No, not really. …Well, maybe a little. Hidan's hand went to his amulet and began to finger it, as he often did whenever he was thinking. It's not like someone could wholly care for their brats; at least a bit of contempt was bound to grow.

But no matter.

Jashinst parents were supposed to protect their children with their very lives; in Hidan's case, his immortal life. That was, until they reached the age to fight for themselves, where they'd be expected to do just that. Until then, he was perpetually in mama-bear mode.

'Course, taking care of those little shits would've been a hellofa lot harder had he not had help from all the others--Kakuzu, especially. The masked man always acted like he couldn't care less about what happened to them, but it didn't take a genius to see he actually, even if it was just a little bit, cared about them.

And for that, the reaper was thankful. Realizing that he'd accidentally been staring at the subject of the latter of his thoughts for quite some time now, he quickly looked away, making a light coughing sound in the back of his throat. Damn. He better not have freakin' noticed...

The last few days had been tortuous for Kakuzu. (Or had it been weeks? Months? Truthfully, he’d lost count; there had been a greater amount of stupidity at the base than usual lately, and Kakuzu feared it had infected him.) Not only had he been spending more money than he originally had to, but he’d been keeping up with Hidan’s brats because he couldn’t. Hidan was still too immature to have children. It was in Kakuzu’s hopes that they’d taught Hidan to keep it in his pants.

Kids. Damn, Kakuzu hated kids—they were loud, annoying, bratty, naïve… Basically Hidan except in a more compact form. No wonder Kakuzu hated them so much. With a burning passion, actually.
