Hackers VS. Tamers
Beyond factions, there are two ‘tamer types’ you can pick from, Hacker and Tamer. Although they are not much different at first glance, the type you pick will effect your OOC progression. Picking either tamer type will not lock you out of any faction.
Tamers
Whether you love digimon, have a desire to protect those around you, or you happened into stumble being a tamer, the majority of tamers fall into this type. Not all tamers are good natured, but they tend to focus on a single partner. Most tamers prioritize growing a bond with their digimon and have stronger relationship with them as a result, however having stronger camaraderie and more personal bond might spur on digivolution faster, but that doesn’t mean they’ll reach their full potential. Tamers have a bonus in CAM but will not gain as much EXP as a hacker would.
Hackers
Perhaps you always had a knack with computers or maybe you just like using your new found power to go places you shouldn’t. Most people wouldn’t call themselves ‘hackers’ unless they were skilled enough to make up for the negative connotations that follow. Hackers are better at bringing out the potential of not only their main digimon partner, but all of their digimon. This comes at a cost of not becoming too close to their digimon partners as a result, slowing their digivolution. Hackers get a bonus in EXP gained for their digimon but will not gain as much CAM as a normal tamer would.

Factions - Choosing a path
In the group there will be a total of three factions, lead by a head tamer. These tamers get word from the true leaders of the faction as they cannot interact directly due to being stuck in the digital world and unable to cross-over due to their data mass. Each Faction has their own ideals and goals to accomplish in relation to the future of both worlds.
Eden
Lead by the ex-hacker Karina Leoni with her partner digimon Opal the Rasielmon, they follow the guiding light of the Three Great Angels in order to bring about harmony between the two worlds. Seeing that Helix has done good, even if it was accidental, that it opened the gates and brought the worlds closer, Karina, Opal, and the Three Great Angels with to stabilize the connection between worlds so they can stay connected to one another, but trying to have cause little trouble to each other. Stabilizing the two worlds but keeping them separate is a harrowing task and avoiding any friction between the worlds would be impossible, but with a little time and effort both digimon and human will be able to coexist despite the issues. Digimon still might slip through the cracks and humans might end up with the same fate with falling into each others worlds, but due to a stable connection they would easily be able to get back, if they managed to find their way without causing havoc along the way. People who join this faction tend to have a stronger bond with their partners and believe that human and digimon interaction will benefit without forcing them to do so.
Vanguard
Headed by a politician Lance Ungar and his partner Arthur the Durandamon, they seek to bring back peace to both worlds by properly separating the two worlds as they were before with the guiding hands of The Royal Knights. The goal of Lance, Arthur, and The Royal Knights is to return to how things were before Helix disrupted the barrier between the two worlds. If they succeed both worlds will be fully stabilize and will no longer endanger each other, allowing both human and digimon not involved getting dragged into the strife unwillingly. In doing so, digimon will also no longer fall into the human world and wreck havoc, but the disconnection between worlds might separate all humans from all digimon for good. The Royal Knights see this as a good thing, as humans and digimon were never meant to meet, while Lance and Arthur feel the need of the many is more important of the desire of the few. Many who join this faction do so with the desire to protect others or wanting for things just to return to normal.
Genesis
Commanded by the notorious gang leader simply known as ‘Lio’ along with their partner Hecate the Raguelmon, together they follow the words of the Seven Great Demon Lords in order to fully unite the two worlds and becoming one. Uniting the worlds will cause them to both stabilize, but it is unknown the untold destruction and confusion the denizens of both worlds will face once the worlds overlap each other by force. With the worlds as one, it could either advance human civilization as they work together with digimon to better the new world in coexistence or if turmoil and chaos will cause strife between them. The end goal for this faction is the most uncertain but it has the highest risk and reward out of the others. Lio and Hecate, along with the Seven Great Demon Lords believe that with chaos comes growth and even in the worst case scenario it will eventually help humanity to become stronger in the end. A high number of hackers join this faction, but others also join this faction for their own reasons.
Factionless
Perhaps too extreme or restrictive, you can chose to stay a free spirit and following your own path. You do not need to pick a faction if you don’t want to. There are a lot more people like you who rather keep their freedom than follow another's dogma, or perhaps you just like the chaos that is befalling both worlds currently. Without a faction you are able to help out any side you please and will have no penalty in helping different factions. The downside is, since you are a neutral party no faction will fully trust you and no matter how much you do for a certain faction you will never gain renown for your deeds.

Here is the working premise we have for digimon Helix!
Things are subject to change but not by much. Critiques, questions, and suggestions are encouraged and welcome!
The group would take place in a universe like tamers, where digimon games, shows, and merchandise exist but they’re not ‘real’. At the time there would be a new and popular MMO called Digimon Helix (which would also be the name of the group). The MMO is a mixture between digimon championship, digimon world, and the original V-pets. The point of the game would be to raise your digimon to be strong, fight in competitions, and even venture into different parts of the ‘digital world’ to find items as well as get scan data for digimon. In the MMO your digimon will also try to talk to you via a speech bubble you can click on which will activate a quest, ask you to solve a riddle, or just a casual conversation which resulted in having their friendship grow.
In that mode you can also click on a digimon and talk to them via typing up something to them or using your microphone to talk to them, this along with the amazing A.I. is what lead the MMO to be so popular along with the intricate tourney system and the ability to use VR when going to different areas to scan digimon or looking for items.
There is also a competitive side to the game as you can train your digimon with items, boost their stats, even battle wild digimon to increase their level and gain experience quickly. Battles can happen in official tournaments, or just regular PvP. You can also team up with another player and their digimon for team battles.
Once the games popularity grew, a phone app came out that attaches to your game via linking your account so you can interact with your digimon without the use of the computer. Functions are limited on the app, which acts more like a v-pet compared to the full game. On the app you can only have your ‘primary’ digimon, which you can have them forage for items, or do training mini-games to boost stats. Since it’s a v-pet you will also have to take care of your digimon by feeding it, cleaning up after it, and putting it to sleep when needed. You also don’t have to have the full MMO to use the app as it can also act as a standalone game by itself, however you can only have one digimon and are limited to local PvP for battles.
Interestingly enough your digimon on the app can even talk to you, give you reminders, act as an alarm, and update you with upcoming events that might suit your interests.
However as time went on the app would seem to turn on by itself, or digimon would ask their tamer about past conversations when the app wasn’t on screen, as if they were always listening. However not everyone was creeped out by this instance, by digging deeper some users found that the digimon’s A.I. was almost too perfect, like they were talking to a human, and soon people would realize these digimon were not just simple A.I.
These same people, with the help if their digimon were able to uncover something amazing; that digimon weren’t just a game, they were real — or at least as real as a digital monster could get. It turned out digimon could do more than just mess with your phone, they could even leave and travel the internet if they were connected; making them useful for hackers and scammers alike. Soon there began to be trouble as fights broke out between digimon causing server problems or power outages from their battles.
But that was just the beginning; because the MMO was linked to the digital world, creating a plane between the two words, it would cause rifts, allowing digimon born from the digital world to cross over using the MMO’s link into the human world. This results in unknown problems as technological issues begin to rise due to the wild digimon running wild.
But it doesn’t stop there.
People then began to report seeing phantoms of monsters around areas just before or during a disaster. Realizing that those who discovered the truth behind the MMO, created a bond with their digimon, only they could stop wild digimon and outlawed hacker’s from running a muck in society- no the world. Thanks to the bond they shared with their digimon, these few were able to stop hackers and wild digimon from causing major damage online. Despite this, there were still issues, because of the connection with the digital word that the MMO created, it began to leak into the human world. This began creating magnetic fields which the average human wouldn’t be able to see, allowing wild and hacker digimon to come into the real world and wreak havoc. Those who have a strong bond with their digimon are able to glimpse into these magnetic fields, seeing the digimon causing disaster, access it themselves, and stop the menace. These people, taking the terminology from the MMO itself, call themselves ‘Digimon Tamers’.
