Gonna preface this by saying it's for the @digimon02countdown but it doesn't necessarily need to be reblogged or anything 'cause it's not super in-depth or insightful or anything like that and, technically, this isn’t my favorite scene or line or even theme in the show (I'm not sure what that would even be); it’s a throw-away line in the dub that happens at the very end of the episode Storm of Friendship where Davis gets his second Digi-Egg:
It’s a short dialogue exchange that goes like this:
Davis: ”Hey, did you see that? I got a noogie! That means I'm one of the guys now!"
DemiVeemon: ”I have a question: if you're one of the guys now, does that mean you used to be one of the girls and how come you never told me about it? I wish you humans would just make up your minds!”
Davis: “Oh yeah, then how’s this for friendship?” *shakes DemiVeemon*
Basically, if you couldn't guess, this was the beginning of my trans!Davis headcanons and it’s really very personal to me - my fixation on it having stemmed from my own desire to have been born male as I was a tiny AFAB child of maybe ten at the time the episode aired, at a point in my life when it had recently been made very clear to me by the authority figures in my life that behaving like a boy was completely unacceptable to them.
I know the line is just meant to be silly but, honestly, I latched onto it like a life-line and for years and years while I was living as a girl, every time I thought about Digimon Adventure 02 I’d think back to that line and the possibility that my favorite character was AFAB at some point and it was always very comforting to me.
It’s just a projection of my own feelings, really, because it’s obviously not canon-canon, but I received such a strong negative reaction in my own life to the idea of being a boy that I definitely took DemiVeemon’s very innocent question far too seriously as a child and have been on the trans!boy Davis train ever since.
In the episode Davis’ shakes DemiVeemon a bunch in response to what DemiVeemon says while everyone laughs it off and you’re supposed to be like “oh haha silly little Digimon” but all I thought watching it for the first time as a little kid was a jumbled mess of:
Davis didn’t deny that he was born a girl and what if he was like me and had had secret thoughts about being a boy for years before becoming one?
DemiVeemon just seemed more hurt that Davis didn’t trust him enough to tell him about it than upset at the idea itself because they were friends and friends accepted each other and,
None of the other kids in the room - even the older kids - were angry or upset by the idea. It was like they thought that becoming a boy was a thing that could happen and was normal and-
-it just kind of spiraled out of control from that moment on, really.
I wish I had some bigger deeper analysis of the show to back up my love of trans!Davis headcanons but I don't. That's all there is to it, really, but it’s part of what made Digimon Adventure 02 really important to me initially when I was growing up and I think about it constantly as it lives rent free in my head.
It's also the basis for this blog and why I chose Davis as my first name when I came out as trans (also it just sounds nice with my last name), so, yeah, thanks wacky Digimon 02 dub on behalf of tiny impressionable me and my fellow trans!Davis enjoyers everywhere~

@digimon02countdown Day 7 - What do you love about Digimon Adventure 02?
While my attachment to Digimon started and persisted due to my love to the original Adventure, there are still quite a few things about 02 that always kept me around. I have already hinted at it in previous posts; the relationships, similarities and support between the "older" and "new" Chosen Children, the concept of the multiverse, Jogress evolution (also the fact that my OTP are absolute dads to the kids)... But I'd say the most important aspect for me is the bonding between the characters. And nothing signifies this more for me, nothing is as outstanding, significant and vibrant - as the development of the relationship between Daisuke and Ken.
I would argue that, overall, no relationship gets that much focus, that much visible positive development than these two. And yes, upon getting asked, I will never deny that, in my opinion, there is a sense of romantic tension between them too, but in this post, I just want to write about how fascinating, soothing and beautiful their bond is to me in general.
Their initial set-up is, once again, that of rivals. That is a theme Digimon has always been playing with - but I'd say no other series threw that trope for a loop like this before. On one hand, there is the fact that they're both playing football, even ending up facing each other at a point in the series where Ken is still considered to be that perfect, untouchable genius, good at and with everything, while Daisuke is considered a thick-headed knucklehead, goodhearted, but brash and not really talented in many areas - and yet, he still admired Ken at this point. Then of course, there is the fact that they're on opposing ends, enemies in the Digital World, having brutal, cruel fights against one another as Chosen Child vs. Digimon Kaiser - until the spell breaks, with the Crest of Miracles breaking Ken's curse.
And from now on, the boy - who's responsible for his own Digimon partner's death and the suffering of so many others - will have to face the aftermath of what he's done, dealing with guilt and self-esteem issues, feeling unworthy and unlovable.
But then there is Daisuke - the only one who immediately wants to give him the chance to atone for what he's done. He is not forgiving him right away, but wants him to be able to make up for everything - and with kindness and the persistence to not let him sacrifice himself and die, they achieve the unthinkable: Their Digimon combine, their hearts pound in sync. They seem to be connected in ways that make Daisuke get excited - and scare the heck out of Ken. He thought he didn't have anything or anyone else but his reborn Digimon partner and family, and now there's this boy he used to fight, he used to be enemies with... Who simply wants to be his friend, who wants them to be "partners" and work together.
It's confusing, it's scary. While Daisuke is sure that they're meant to be and fight next to each other, it takes time for Ken to feel ready to take the steps towards him, the others, forming bonds, friendships. But Daisuke being Daisuke makes it so much easier for him to let his walls down, slowly but steadily enabling him to show his gentle and soft side, starting to trust and rely on him as much as he does in return.
And Daisuke? Daisuke is displaying a sense of confidence and comfort that we rarely saw before - he tended to be so focused on impressing others, covering up his own insecurities with cockiness. But his bond with Ken makes all his natural kindness and straightforwardness come through easily. He may appear more simple-minded at first glance, but his heart has the right priorities - and he'll do what it takes to save Ken, from himself, from darkness, helping him to be his true self.
Daisuke doesn't doubt their connection for a second - and that's why it's so important that Ken is still able to shake him. That he has an impact on him like no other. He will give Ken all the time he needs to face his demons, to do the things that are uncomfortable to him - and he'll be by his side all the way.
They are partners, they've got each other's backs. And as long as they don't lose sight of themselves and each other, it will always be this way.

I don't think this is very "spoiler-ish" but I hope it's ok ;w; I just really wanted to include my new son in the countdown and yes, I used Haru's pose because I ran out of pose ideas when I reached Takeru xD
Well, the day is here. I hope the peeps who can watch the movie can enjoy it on my behalf ;w; because I'll have to wait until Nov 30th and only if it's available in my closest cinema OTL
The next episode of Digimon Adventure 02, "THE BEGINNING" hits japanese cinemas this October 27th 2023.

Digimon Adventure 02 Countdown Day 7: 02 Gang as a Unit
Among the places in Digital World, Village of Beginnings is one of the unvisited location for them (excluding Takeru, Hikari, and Ken for obvious reasons). 02 kids propose an idea to visit the said village someday.
And here they are, at Village of Beginnings. While Daisuke, Miyako, and Iori are having fun with the digitamas and newborn digimon babies, Takeru and Hikari reminisce about their past experiences in this place (mainly from Adventure era). Ken and Wormmon spend their time together in silence. Afterwards, the group engage in group photo (Hikari holding a digitama is a parallel of her younger self holding the said egg in Adventure Episode 54).
This happens a week after the final battle against BelialVamdemon and Digital World has been restored to original state (in most part).

Day 6 of @digimon02countdown
I remember being very excited to see Hikari/Kari and Tailmon/Gatomon in 02. She was my favorite digidestined at the time (although it might be because she was pink and that was my favorite color ). She still remains one of my favorites and seeing her take a more active part in this season (getting to show how awesome she is besides just being Tai's little sister) is one of my favorite aspects of Digimon Adventure 02.

Digimon 02 Countdown (BONUS): Prosecutor Noriko!
I felt kind of guilty for not drawing any of the Dark Spore children for yesterday’s prompt, so here’s a sketchy Noriko, based on @reliablejoukido’s Ace Attorney AU! I absolutely LOVE her design of older Noriko (I don’t know, something about her haircut!) so I really wanted to try drawing it!! She has a monogrammed briefcase and Salamon carries whatever pair of glasses she needs on her head (reading glasses for looking fierce in the courtroom and sunglasses for looking fierce outside it!). And then I wanted to draw her more casual side as well. I don’t know. The world needs more NORIKO!!!!
