Director Motonaga’s thoughts and explanation of Meiko and Meicoomon.

This is really eye opening. People disliked meiko for being bland and for being in the story. But she was written in such a way for the sake of the story.

It also goes along with what i said, that the story just wouldn’t hold for 6 parts and focused on the 8. It just simply isn’t compelling without something new to the story.

Tri. Part 6 spoilers ahead!, First time writing like this so pls excuse if its bad lol.

It’s been a year since my adventure in Tokyo, Since I lost Mei-chan… I’ve kept in contact with Taichi and the others frequently and I’m glad we’re all still friends. It’s been a tough year, Our first christmas without Mei-chan, My first birthday, But I’ve managed to push through. I was sleeping in my room and then suddenly, I heard a noise, 8 beeps and then a pause, and 8 beeps again, I pushed down my alarm clock but the beeping continued, I looked up and saw the time, 11:27pm, It was far too early to be my alarm so I continued to look. Eventually I reached my desk and the beeps were louder, I openned my top drawer and saw it, My Digivice was glowing, “Mei-chan?” I thought as I reached over to grab it, As I did everything went white. I wake up somewhere I’ve never been before, It felt like the Digital World but, Everything was soft and colorful, It felt like this place was a childs play area, but it was empty, nobody was here. “Mei?” I heard a familiar voice behind me and the whole world stopped, I thought I was just hearing things until I turned around and saw her, looking back at me. “M-Mei-chan?” I could barely get the words out of my mouth, It was really her, After all this time she was really there. She ran over to me and hugged onto me tightly, “Mei, I’m sorry” she says softly, “I’m sorry for everything I did.”, she gripped onto my clothes tightly, I smiled and pat her head, “It’s okay Mei-chan.” I said. “I’ve missed you Mei-chan, It’s been tough without you.” I said as tears began to fill my eyes, She looked up and smiled, “I’m glad we could meet eachother again!” she said with her happy voice, But something didn’t seem right… she seemed sad? “Mei-chan? Is everything okay?” I asked, and then I noticed it, Her data was slowly fading away, Just like last time. “I’m sorry Mei, I just... I wanted to see you one more time” she said as tears began to fall from her eyes, “I’m sorry for doing this to you…” I pulled her close and hugged her tight, “Thank you Mei-chan, Thank you for reaching out to me… I love you.” I whispered, as she continued to fade away she looked up and smiled at me one last time, as tears dripped down her face she slowly opens her mouth, “Mei, Ta much!” she says to me as she disappears, Then once again the whole world around me turned white. I suddenly wake up, Standing infront of my desk with my Digivice in my hand and tears down my face, The glowing had stopped, I look over at my clock to see how long it had been, It still read 11:27pm, I'm not sure if what happened was real or just a dream. I wiped away my tears and smiled as I put the Digivice back in my drawer and climbed back into bed, On the wall at the foot of the bed staring back at me was a photo of Me and Mei-chan, “Mei-chan” I whisper as I slowly close my eyes, “Ta much.”

After that ending I wanted to write something more, To give Meiko and Meicoomon a proper goodbye, Over the movies I’ve come to really care about these two character and never really done these sort of writing before so I probably didn’t do very good lol.

Been kinda wanting to get the 8 crests tattood on my wrists but held off until Tri ended incase Meiko got a crest, Since she didnt and Meicoomon is my fave, Was there ever a symbol specific to Meiko and Meicoomon aside the M on her forehead? Don’t wanna leave her out.

If not, lowkey temped to get a full Meicoomon tattoo on my left arm lol.

When are you gonna release the Soundtrack?

I’m still in disbelief, feels like it hasn’t fully hit me yet with Meicoomon dying in part 6, Very rarely do I ever connect to a character like this but she was a major fave, #1 favorite Digimon and favorite character in the movie series, but this is the first time when a character I’ve connected to so much has died in its franchise, hoping somehow she returns in future installments with Koshiros backup data thingy somehow or even another Meicoomon in games or new animes.
