From Chapter 11
"Selene realized she could hear Adam's heartbeat, clutching at him to listen to it better: a strong and continuous sound that made all the accumulated tiredness collapse on her, causing her slight drowsiness.
Jensen would have wanted not to perceive the familiarity of that gesture, the way the young woman's body relaxed against his, the way he recognized and remembered how beautiful it was to feel female forms pressed against his side.
The augmented hand moved off the floor in search of a lock of purple hair to play with distractedly, wrapping it around his mechanical fingertip — determined to ignore the frustration of not being able to experience the tickle between his fingers instead.
He squinted his alien eyes at the violence with which his mind screamed at him how wrong it was to be there, that voice he hated and despised exclusively at that moment. It reminded him of all their differences, insurmountable and unjust — from their age, she twenty-two and he thirty-six.
The way they had both been thrown to the cruelties of the world had brought them closer and continued to approach them painfully, collimating in the fight they had abandoned themselves to just before. It was a response dictated solely by the desire to find in the battle the security of blood and sweat, all they were so accustomed to.
Contrary to what they commonly should have felt and experienced, there were only uncertainties and doubts, for them, in the utopia of normal existence."
I had totally forgotten that I listened to this song on repeat while writing about the brief fight between Adam and Selene in Chapter 11.

About the chapter 37...
At the moment, I am unable to read the new comments I received, first from Siobhan68, when the story had not been updated for practically a year, and later from Cyberwolf0_replicant on chapter 36.
This is not because of some technical issue, but because I struggle to get back to interacting with readers.
But the approaching date of March 9, Adam's birthday, always makes me think of this story, which I started writing after years and years of not writing.
After the death of several relatives from 2010 onward, especially my mother's death from cancer in 2014.
Also, on July 14, 2023, my dog Febo passed away, because he was old and because he had cancer as well.
He was the dog that my mother had wanted shortly after finding out about her lung cancer (and after the death in 2010 of my mother's sister, that is, my aunt.)
The absurd and embarrassing thing is that I started suffering from panic attacks not after all these griefs, but after realizing that despite the effort put into the creation of Deus Ex War Paint, my fanfiction is enjoyed by very few readers, practically counted on the fingers of one hand.
This is nobody's fault, neither mine nor those who rightly have their own preferences.
I just feel sorry for the few readers who are waiting for this fanfiction updates.
I will continue to update the story at least until the chapter completed so far, chapter 44, but after that, I don't know how it will go.
Adam and Selene's story extends to the earthquake that will occur in the saga timeline in 2030.
Selene will make the acquaintance of Megan Reed, Adam's parents and Alex Vega, but also of Bob Page, Gunther Hermann, Madame Photographe, Janus and many other characters such as Dr. Tiffany Kavanagh and Dr. Gary Savage.
Deus Ex War Paint is, to be fair, divided into acts.
The first act begins with the first chapter and ends with Adam's mission with TF29 in chapter 16.
The second act picks up from chapter 17 until chapter 34, the first kiss between Adam and Selene.
The third act continues with chapter 35, Damian's death, and will definitely lead to what I have in mind for the 2030 earthquake.
And it will probably all end in the fourth act, which may be the shortest, although broadly speaking I have assumed that Deus Ex War Paint will have approximately 65 chapters.
Maybe part of me is hoping that this post will inspire other readers to start the story or pick up where they left off.
Or it is simply a long stream of consciousness in which I in turn make my own mind up about the future events of Deus Ex War Paint.
In any case, my final point in this regard is that I must have underestimated the weight Damian's death had on me, and dealing with Selene's death of a loved one is probably something I was not really prepared for.
Because the path to which Selene has just entered is far from idyllic.
I know this. I speak from personal experience.

«What is it?», he asked in an equally low tone.
The young woman swallowed quickly, flinching and rising just enough to be able to look her host in the face. She opened her mouth to continue, lowering her gaze several times, and Jensen suddenly understood what was making her so embarrassed, the certainty of feeling his artificial heart missing several beats."

I think it's important to know that in Italy [Pisa, Tuscany], protests for Palestine are ongoing; also against censorship and to prevent the resurgence of fasc!sm
Unfortunately, things are not going well; many students, including teenagers, school staff, mayors, and teachers, are being beaten. This is not democracy. This is not freedom of thought. Faced with a genocide, we should feel horrified, but that's not happening.
Meanwhile, we continue to protest, despite the fear that makes us tremble—today (23.02.2024), many ended up in the hospital, a girl was hit in the eye, and many others in the head.
It's scary just to leave the house. But Italians continue to protest because we have a history that cannot be forgotten.
