but you can write something very plain.

You don’t have to write some genre-redefining masterpiece. You can write a story about two people very simply falling in love. You can just write a story about a person going to the store. You could, if you were so inclined, just re-write Star Wars but like, make all the names start with M.

Don’t let the fear of not-writing something transcendent stop you from just writing.

The first thing Daniel realizes when he opens his eyes, is that he's still blind in one eye. What surprises him, aside from having woken up at all, is that he's otherwise largely whole again. Functional, compatible limbs have been attached at the appropriate points, and someone has changed him into clean human clothes.

He swallows thickly and sits up, LED spinning yellow. The second thing he realizes is that he's on a bed. An unfamiliar human's bed. The walls muffle the sounds of a dog barking in the backyard, and a small bit of focusing informs Daniel that it's a Saint Bernard.

He swings his legs over the side of the bed as the sounds of the dog and two people suddenly enter the house. Daniel bolts, and runs straight into the wall opposite the bedroom door.
