I'm looking forward to restoration but tbh I get the anger abt it. While I didn't love the Shisno trilogy (mostly/esp not s16), it also had a bunch of good moments and story/character beats. Kinda… interesting too that the whole theme of that was 'we all make mistakes' and learning to live with them, grow from them etc, but s19's gonna be a retcon. Ok.

rvb voice yeah so the major theme of our show is about learning how to let things go and move on from the past because you can’t change things. anyway we can change established canon on a whim and here’s church our specialest little boy we’re bringing him back baby he can never die!!!

i do enjoy "living weapon" characters but specifically living weapons who did in fact do absolutely horrific things which at least a part of them enjoyed and thought was good and right at the time, and that no amount of not knowing any better or guilt they feel in hindsight will ever make up for. i love living weapons who are "irredeemable", and no it's not their fault that they were made that way or pointed in the directions they were by the hand that wielded them, and yes they are victims, but so were their victims. living weapons who some people will never be able to forgive, but who still wake up every day and try to do better than what's expected of them. a sword that uses its blade to cut wheat to make bread for the people who once lived in fear of its arc falling on their heads.

say what you will about season 17 but it has some of my absolute favorite Wash Silly Moments. the shooting donut repeatedly. seeing carolina again and immediately crouching and going “aaaAAAAAHHHH GODDAMNIT!!” before standing back up. time traveling back into his old body and just going “my joints feel great, is this what health was?” and moving on. he’s literally such a dipshit i love him

Okay ngl my favorite moment in the entirety of RvB is Simmons' soft little "y'alright?" when Sarge is having his breakdown in S16.

And also, tangentially related, my favorite moment in S17 is Wash's patented Mom Voice "Simmons!" before Simmons technically knows him beyond "that guy we met that one time who just shot my teammate."
