@.wittypaldi Happy to be Silverstone a few days ago with my son Alex Witty to watch Alpine F1 star Pierre Gasly drive Ayrton Senna’s 1984 Toleman-Hart TG183B for a feature being produced by Neil Wooding’s Sky Sports F1 team and shown over the upcoming Imola Grand Prix weekend.

Never having met Pierre before I was impressed by his enthusiasm and willingness to learn about the F1 cars we raced 40 years ago. He’d never driven a race car before with an H pattern gear change, never had a steering wheel with no control buttons and never used steel brakes. It was an experience totally alien to him and he genuinely loved it.

He told me he’d watched the Sky Toleman Story the day before to get an understanding of the team which existed before he was born. He was genuinely excited and the experience didn’t disappoint so I’m looking forward to the programme when it comes out. I am now a fan of this personable Frenchman.

bit of a random question but i have to ask for your honest opinion of this lewis situation. do u think he’s demotivated as people say? phoning it in? do u think he’ll get it together this season or is he just washed? bc as a fan of his i’m starting to lose hope 😞

i don't think he's demotivated... controversial take, i think he's actually extremely hopeful.

lewis' 'issue' imo is more that he is still striving for success and can't accept that the car is as bad as it is tbh. so he's trying extreme setups in the hopes that going extreme will unlock something... but it isn't bc unfortunately the car's just not got anything to unlock. instead it just knocks it into a worse and more unstable working window.

i think that is a byproduct of having had the cars he's had. even the w12 and w13, he experimented, he took the hit, things gradually got better. i do not think the w14 has that potential. george in the other garage hasn't ever had a wdc level car, so is more able to accept 'this is where the car is' and reaps the benefit of being able to keep a nicer setup through not trying to reach for the stars in a car that's firmly on the ground lmao. i think you'd see the same from max if you plonked him in a midfield car, honestly, but hopefully that midfield team would have the foresight to say "this isn't working" and encourage him to revert, which mercedes doesn't seem to do because they have no idea how to manage as a midfield team despite them having been one for 2 years already.

professional athletes don't 'phone it in' unless its coming towards retirement, especially in formula 1, where the sheer amount of travel involved means you have to basically give up a lot of other aspects of your life. even the drivers who are about to be dropped still give it their all right at the end of the season - look at mick, look at albon in 2020, look at rogro and kmag back in 2020, look at ricciardo in 2022. they were all still trying. their brains don't work the same way as a normal persons, they're constantly chasing.

i also don't think lewis is washed. he was fighting for p2 in wdc right up until the COTA dsq last year, despite not being in a car that should have had him p2. we still see him have excellent spatial awareness, tyre management, he's not error prone or cautious going into corners - these are the areas where we see declining drivers starting to lack. i think it's a case of that car not being great, and george being able to compromise with that vs lewis not seeming to be able to accept that the car's a bit of a dog.

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

I get that showing Hyun woo visiting Haein's grave meant to convey that she lived a long life and they were together but it was unnecessary

The real queen of tears is me because I'm crying about the wasted potential of this show

This hospital scene where Haein is feeding Baekhong - we needed more of this. More of them falling in love with each other!! Flirting and giggling.

i..........do not know how i feel about that ending. visually, thematically, beautiful! they had their baby girl! they lived happily together and stayed together no matter what! in a way, haein forgetting the painful memories was a gift to her and hyunwoo they could just be happy and content.

but like, my main issue once Again with the drama is how little screenspace baekhong got at the end to explore anything. so, when you see old hyunwoo visiting haein's grave and being collected by haein, it's like, Okay. the impact was almost gone because of how much time they wasted on USELESS shit in the drama, to the point that their last proper kiss was back in episode 5!!! does that even make sense???

once again a kdrama falling prey to a bad script unfortunately but i will miss baekhong and their once in a lifetime love so much. uGH i wish i could just redo the second half of the drama! because the first half is so 10/10!
