Thanks, Pixelvibes!
You reminded me that the chat function exists on EA Support! But…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How bizarre! In your screenshots, we don’t see the EA logo or the chat rep’s name by each message! Huh! That seems suspicious! And how he couldn’t answer my question and directed me to a forum! Huh! Didn’t I ask a similar question to yours, though? Hmm… Well if you WERE instructed to post on the forums… I suppose your post should already be over there? I’ll check in a moment!
Also, I encourage everyone reading this to contact EA Support via chat function if you think my screenshots are fake in any way, shape, or form. And ask the same thing I did if you please.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How bizarre! Truly strange how our chats look so VASTLY different for the SAME QUESTIONS! HMMMMMMM…
Anyone got a calculator to make this shit add up or nah?

I love the various ass backwards ways these people try to cope.

The fact that this has to be said is pretty pathetic. For starters, it doesn’t matter how much you think modders make the game more playable, that has nothing to do with the fact that the moment you make mods for the Sims 4, you agree to not making profit. If you don’t like that, you can easily not mod for the Sims 4. This is an instance of people victimizing themselves when they willingly take part of the thing that they believe makes them a victim. Additionally, I’m not going to try and say “Sympathize with the Corporation.” No. What I am going to say is that Sims 4 is it’s own separate team of people who put their hard work into the game, broken or not. There are still average people behind that corporation you’re saying people shouldn’t support. Granted, support isn’t owed, and if that’s how you feel, that’s fine. But it’s stupid to use that as a back bone for why we should support creators actively doing harm to the community in their violation of the rules that everyone who uses Sims 4, has had to agree to. If you want to support creators, then support creators. That’s fine. Support is given, not owed. If you want to support small businesses, how about supporting people who are making their own games and assets? At the end of the day, none of these arguments truly matter, because EA’s EULA is backed by law, and if you’re out here saying that people should have their legal rights over their IP violated on the grounds that another person can do what they do better in your opinion, then you’re a jack ass and you really shouldn’t be speaking on this sort of thing, because you’re clearly a biased party. Would also like to know how creators making up to 10,000 a month on illegal content is okay, but EA dares to have rules to protect their IP, that impact their average workers who worked their ass off to be able to produce Sims 4, and it’s suddenly a bad thing because they’re a corporation which means they’re rich. That makes sense.

Here’s something I ran across when researching the Cowbuild stuff. (Excuse me if I’m opening old wounds, it is not my intent to hash up old issues or resolved issues. If anyone involved asks me to take this post down, I will.)
Now… I’m researching, right? Looking at pages and pages of stolen mesh by Cowbuild that I have seen 1000x and even own in my SL… but this one… this one made me lol.
Tumblr media
Hmmm… where have I seen this mesh before?……
Tumblr media
OH yeah! Our favorite “original mesher”, clover19_sims.
So, not only did clover 100% definitely did not mesh this “bearbrick”, but it is unlikely that Cowbuild did, either.
Tumblr media
And the question becomes more convoluted: did she buy the $12 mesh herself? Did Cowbuild by the $12 mesh? Did the SL creator buy it? Did she rip off Cowbuild or the SL Creator? Did Cowbuild rip off the SL creator? Did the SL creator follow TOS?
…This mess is shocking, I know. /s
Listen guys, all I’m saying is stop inflating who you are. I understand that providing for various online communities beautiful things to enhance their gaming experience comes with some sick idolization. It’s rampant in the SL community, too.
There’s a massive problem within SL of what I call “creator vs consumer”. Creators there also struggle with exploiting their customers for every penny, outing them for pointing out the creator’s mistakes, setting insane standards that makes average consumers place creators on a god pedestal and are afraid to complain. Entitlement for a hobby. The list goes on... The stakes are much higher in SL because RL money is the nature of the economy there; there’s no “motherlode” and you can afford everything you see in the market. And as someone on “both sides of the fence” (“creator” and consumer; more the latter) I get it. We’re all wanting to find a buck in this horrendous time. And making things takes time. It takes even more time to make sure the thing you’re making WORKS, isn’t borked and is something people would want to pay for.
And in a predatory capitalist society where we’re suppose to put dollar amount on every move we make, or it’s not valid, I get exactly why hobbies have become main incomes. We’ve been told that if it doesn’t make us money, we’re wasting time. Which is false, IMO. But, predatory capitalism is a whole other topic.
What I’m saying is: this is the system. Stealing from other creators or buying mesh on CGTrader and claiming it as your original work isn’t just unethical, it’s crime in virtually every country on the planet. It’s also unfair to consumers and their right to make informed purchases.
You’d make A LOT MORE MONEY with honesty. What’s so hard with saying “hey guys, I found this really awesome object on CGTrader by XYZ creator and I know we’d all love to have it in our games. I happen to have the knowledge and skills to convert this amazing object to The Sims (or whatever platform here). And I’m going to do it for us. However, I did have to pay for this object and its rights myself and I would like some compensation for my purchase and my skills, but if I sell X amount at 0.50¢ a pop, I’ll make my money back and then some in no time.”
No, conversions and optimization is not an easy feat. It does take knowledge and skill. But you’d be wildly more appreciated and respected if you were honest. If your fear is that others will just buy the original mesh themselves, thats a very unwarranted fear. Odds are they’d rather pay your SMALLER fee of <$1 to ethically own it and be able to use it immediately than the $12 to get the mesh themselves, or the time it takes to convert and optimize. If your fear is that you’re taking the mesh and violating the original creator’s TOS, then that’s a very warranted fear. And you shouldn’t be using their mesh PERIOD. If the original creator has any rules in their TOS that would prevent you from buying it and converting it as is into another 3D platform, then you have to respect that because it is a legally binding contract once you are in possession of those files.
We all should be creating and enjoying our communities and each other. We shouldn’t have to fear that this or that person is going to steal what we make. If we want to make something similar that could even be construed as a rip off of another person’s idea, just ask. Nine times out of ten, they’ll be flattered you like their stuff so much. Doing it the right way protects not only the original creator and the consumers of both of you, but it protects YOU. And it allows you to set your own TOS, legally. If you break the original creator’s TOS, then legally your own TOS is not legally valid and you cannot be angry at someone for putting them in builds when you don’t “allow” that. Or recoloring and including the mesh. You have no legal right to that object. And you’re putting others as risk for violation of the original creators LEGALLY BINDING TOS.
Not only that… but you’d save yourself this insane drama.
Shrug.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In response to @pixelvibes post who of course has blocked me.
The screenshot is fake of course. EA support can’t do anything without Origin account names and as far as I’m aware, the two people you have such a vendetta against @mack3030 and @simbelene have not posted them publicly. They’re not going to chase people off platform because they said things you don’t like. You are not besties with EA.
Also, apparently the gurus are not actual EA employees so does that mean that other photoshopped screenshot saying that perma pay-walling is alright as long as you made that mesh from scratch is alright holds no weight now? Never did lol.
ALSO! There are a lot of discrepancies between your EA support chat and mine I had less than 10 mins ago~
I ran these through the FotoForensics site and they do a damn good job at letting me know of photo manipulation between a legit convo and fake one. You can also notice how my convo has an EA icon next to support’s response while her’s does not.
I must be bad at math cause this shit ain’t adding up.

NEED HELP WITH THE “SAFE CC CREATORS” LIST
Hi everyone! I’ve moved my list to this url. However I’m struggling to keep up with it, as I’ve gotten more responses than I expected, plus I’ve got to work on art commissions and I’ve just earned myself a new job. If you’d like to keep this blog active and going, please let me know and I’ll add you as a member! You can add cc creators yourself (let me know if you can access the code). Any help would be useful, even a boost would be appreciated! Thank you!

A Short Essay: The Root of the Problem
Or: Let’s Discuss the REAL Issue Here in the Sims Community
-
I’ve seen the argument again and again: “You don’t have to support them if you don’t want to. You’re not entitled to someone’s content.”
It’s not about being entitled to content. NO ONE is “owed” content. Period.
It’s about the situation that paywalls put the community in and it is about respect–paywalls foster a division between the people who have money in the community and those who don’t, and it breeds attitudes of undeserved superiority and entitlement on the part of the permapaywall “creators.” It’s not harassment to point out that these people are toxic as hell and it doesn’t help that people keep defending them, but then do nothing for nothing for us early-access and free creators.
This whole fucking mess is REALLY about treating people fairly and having respect for the community and other artists. The fact that permapaywall defenders are so hung up on the materialism of it is proof enough that this community has a serious problem.
I am an artist and a creator and a member of this community too. Do I not matter because I am not ~a brand~, or because I am not ~luxe~ and popular enough? Are the people who download content somehow less deserving of respect than CC creators? Permapaywallers do not deserve to act as though they are above being held to account for how they treat others, for lying about where their CC comes from, and for acting entitled to people’s money. Again, it is about treating people fairly and permanent paywalls will do nothing but divide a community whether or not someone chooses to support them.
God forbid someone shares something with someone who cannot afford it, and then they get doxxed and have their privacy violated as a result. How is that fair or respectful? They PAID for the content. They BOUGHT it. It was a business transaction, end of. So, why is that someone not worth having their privacy respected, but a permapaywaller can get away with such behavior simply because they put items up for download?
I will say it again and again: This is about how we as a community intend to treat each other and permapaywallers are not above being held accountable for their actions, PERIOD.
NO ONE IS ENTITLED TO CONTENT. AND NO ONE IS ENTITLED TO MONEY.
This is an unpopular opinion, I know, but allow me to clarify what I mean by that.
No one is “owed” content. If a creator isn’t feeling up to doing x, y, or z projects, the community should be respectful of that. They should not demand an artist’s time and they should be considerate of an artist and their life outside the computer. Artists SHOULD be compensated for their work. So many people want to take advantage of people offering commissions and freelance work to get something for cheap/free.
HOWEVER.
No one is entitled to someone’s money. Especially not when the product(s) provided is/are derivative. If a friend shares a set on a Discord server because a lot of people can’t afford the permapaywaller’s prices, and that person gets doxxed simply because they shared a product THEY BOUGHT with people who were unable to pay for it themselves… Who is in the wrong, here? The person doing the doxxing, obviously, because it is a direct intent to violate a person’s privacy in retaliation for sharing a product they paid good money for.
Bottom line: People should not be punished for sharing CC they bought with actual money and people should not be punished for not having money to buy it to begin with. Putting a derivative work up for download does not mean you have the legal right to treat people like shit, harass, or violate a person’s privacy, in retaliation for sharing your content.
Now time for some strawmen!
“You don’t have to support those people.” Yep, I sure don’t. And the problem with that statement is the ignorance of the broader culture around permapaywallers and their “brands” and exclusivity.
I’ve noticed a disturbing trend in the Sims community in the last 5-7 years, which is where the most exclusive and popular content becomes the predominant content in builds shared widely across multiple platforms. I see free content creators’ work get sidelined because God forbid the latest felixandre or harrie set not be featured in someone’s build, because we all want to suck up to the big name creators and builders, we all want to be exclusive to get those notes, etc.
It’s become harder and harder to find and promote free content because people seem to just not care if it’s not posted as a CC Kit and if it’s not bougie and exclusive enough. And if you can’t admit or even be bothered to see that non-exclusive creators are getting sidelined by this, then I don’t know what else to tell you. (And before someone says, “you’re just jealous”–I’m really not. I have a day job and I also maintain anywhere between 55-65 patrons and have done since 2020. I don’t have anything to prove to anyone, to the point that I’m willing to give my early access content away if someone is excited enough and is nice enough to ask for it before the 2 weeks are up.)
“Artists should be compensated for their work!” Yes, they should. And don’t you dare act as though that means anyone who monetizes content is suddenly above being held accountable for their actions. Don’t you DARE use the sanctity and respect creators deserve as a platform to gaslight people into thinking toxic and aggressive behavior is OK. Consumers are taken advantage of just as much as freelance creators, usually by the biggest companies or, in this case, the people who make the most money–and usually with meshes that have been proven to be stolen or converted and then lied about.
“I don’t blame people for going after pirates!” No artist worth their salt is going to be okay with violating people’s privacy–ie, breaking the law–simply because someone shared their pixels after purchasing them.
I’m gonna say it louder for the people in the back:
No artist who is actually a real proper creator would be okay with breaking the law simply because someone else shared content that was purchased from them.
“But it’s piracy!!” You don’t seem to care about that when you ask for the game crack to TS4, or literally any other game or free download. Also, it isn’t piracy to copy and paste a file that is based around derivative work that is actually owned by a proper company (in this case, EA). That’s like saying it’s piracy to repost a fanfic you commissioned, with proper credit given to the original writer. You bought it, it’s yours, and just because other people’s eyeballs looked at it doesn’t mean the original creator loses out on traffic or revenue.
As long as credit to the original creator is given, derivative work is not piracy. It is literally just free advertising.
When someone subbed to my Patreon and threatened me with spreading my early access content, I thanked them, and offered to refund them the money. You want to pay me money to spread my content around? Fucking SURE. That is literally advertising and I’ll let you do it for free.
“You’re hurting the artist making their living!” If they’re such a damn good artist and creator, they should join actual communities and websites who make a real living creating 3D models. Plenty of people DO do this as a job and they make actual good money doing it because they’re good at what they do. The reason a lot of these people aren’t doing that is because they use assets and free softwares based around EA’s Sims 4 coding and they take 3D models other people have made and convert them. So, no, it’s not actually hurting anyone for that reason either.
Strawmen are done now.
-
At the end of the day, this is about what kind of community we want to build and how we ultimately want to treat each other.  The fact is this community DOES need to reckon with how it treats its creators and how the creators treat the community.
Paywalls are dividers between the haves/have nots. Trying to deny that juxtaposition and its cultural/psychological effect just makes people look thoughtless and short-sighted. We need to be more supportive of each other period, and that means not kneecapping or dividing ourselves. It means not cheapening the heart in CC creation by putting more importance on content than on the community itself.
The community has fallen over itself (in large part) for “luxe urban luxury” exclusive CC. But I think it would be silly to just blame that on immature people/kids when it’s really a result of the capitalist nightmare we’re living in. It’s like blaming a fever on wearing too many layers instead of addressing the infection as the source.
As for how to change that… well, I don’t know, honestly. I really don’t know where to go from here. But what’s important now is that we bring these issues out into the air for discussion.
We need to figure out where we’re headed as a community and how we want to treat each other going forward. And we need to figure out how we’re going to deal with the people who don’t want to play nice with the rest of us.
And, to the people who disagree and don’t want to be mature or civil about this: Just like you say we don’t have to buy CC, you don’t have to read this post, or participate. Go run along back to Twitter or wherever it is you want to be rude and snide. I don’t care. I have a life and a full time job and I also know what grass feels like. Take time to pet a cat or dog, touch some grass, tell someone you care about that you love them. It’ll do you some good.

Stop saying it’s a “witch hunt.”
I keep seeing “witch hunt” thrown around and… I honestly disagree.
People have been willing to just let exclusive creators keep doing their thing for years now, and because of that, it’s gotten so entrenched in the community that everyone seems to accept and even believe exclusivity is OK.
Y’all know what? It isn’t a witch hunt to want to STOP exclusive content from being uploaded. We’ve all TRIED to just go for the proven wrongdoers, but that hasn’t worked, and now the community is rightfully worried that all exclusive creators–many of whom are friends or at least collaborators–are in this together.
We should never harass anyone or throw out false accusations. It is also NOT wrong to set the standard that exclusives have hurt the community because we cannot trust people who post them to behave properly.
Stop taking away from the issue that exclusives are POISON and have fostered a sense of undeserved entitlement by people who upload that exclusive content.
SOME THINGS I WANT TO BE CLEAR ON:
1. DO NOT EVER SEND HATE, ANON OR OTHERWISE!
2. DO NOT DOX ANYONE!!
3. DO NOT THROW INSULTS AND BE PETTY! If you are angry, do not participate in a discussion. Take a step back. Breathe.
4. ASK YOURSELF WHAT YOU AIM TO ACHIEVE. Do you want a community that can trust each other? Or do you want a community that’s constantly at each other’s throats? Think about which side of that you’re contributing to.
5. DO NOT MAKE FALSE CLAIMS WITHOUT EVIDENCE! Making false claims without evidence is like… “JANNY-GRACE IS A PERMAPAYWALLER! SHE SET FIRE TO MY HOUSE AND POISONED MY WELL!”
DO NOT ADD CREATORS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN TO BE INVOLVED TO LISTS THAT SAY OTHERWISE.
However, bringing up permapaywallers in relation to this issue is NOT making a false claim: “Janny-Grace is a permapaywaller and needs to stop paywalling content. I don’t know if I can trust Janny anymore because all the doxxers have been exclusive content creators like her and she collaborates with John Smith all the time, and he was PROVEN to be doxxing people.”
To be honest, if y’all don’t want to be dragged in with the doxxers, maybe stop keeping content behind a permanent paywall, stop being so friendly with the proven culprits, and stop defending them in vague posts.
If you hang out with a group of known bank robbers, carry a sack with a money symbol on it, and wear a ski mask (while not skiing), the police are probably going to talk to you as a potential suspect. THAT IS NOT A FUCKING WITCH HUNT.
6. Preying on the community with permapaywalls, then being associated with proven doxxers who are also exclusive uploaders, does not make you a victim. No one should be harassing you, or accusing you of having done the same thing, if there is no proof.
It would be in your best interests to condemn the actions of the people who have violated the privacy of paying customers.
If you remain silent, or if you appear to be complicit by calling anti-permapaywallers “witch hunters”, why would you be surprised at the community for thinking your actions are suspect? People asking if you have done it, people wanting you to be more transparent, people questioning why you WON’T CONDEMN THE ACTIONS OF PEOPLE DOXXING OTHERS, trying to figure out if you’ve violated their privacy, is NOT A WITCH HUNT.  PERIOD. END OF STORY.
FACING THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS IS NOT A WITCH HUNT.
PLEASE GROW THE FUCK UP.
