Adam had asked once to go down to two columns a month, instead of one every week. Gansey had gone on about it being good filler, which had caused a big enough argument that Adam had forgotten why he’d been talking to Gansey about it in the first place. Gansey had apologized, later. What I meant is that it’s a classic, he’d said. It’s what people expect to see. And you really do give good advice. So Adam had kept it up. And this email is perfect, just exactly perfect.

for ff writers directors cut: love comes, and remains strange, ⭐️

this fic always shocks me by being as popular as it is. it's my third most popular by hits, behind mbiyb and carefully placed figures, both of which are multichapter fics. love comes took forever to write and oscillates wildly between really hot and really melancholy, which is kind of my wheelhouse with fic, and i do feel that it's a good example of what my fics tend to be (a good starting point for deathless fics, if anyone ever wants a rec, guess). it's weird, it always makes me kind of sad to think about, now - maybe i just wrote it at a weird time. still, some of my hottest porn ever.

sorry this took forever to answer i've been really busy this week!

i had SO MUCH FUN writing this fic. i love writing highly specific au's and i love meet ugly's (most of my au's are probably meet ugly's), and i love writing about books! definitely, the most fun thing was getting to think about what kind of readers pynch would be, the kinds of stories they'd love. for the record, i do think both of them would be fantasy nerds, but i wanted to explore something else with them, which is how i ended up with ronan being really into horror. such a delight! i might write more someday!

i started writing this fic as a part of @kelliealtogether's states series last summer, and it's taking it's time, but i love it enough to keep tapping away at it.

The thing is small, with a wet nose and ears curved like orchids atop its head, which is overly huge and so small at the same time. Huge because it should not be on its body; tiny because it is the head of a child, even if the child is strange to look at. Hands like a boy, and hooves like a bull, but standing upright, his legs unnaturally straight.  “A minotaur,” Adam whispers. Ronan can hear the little frown between his eyebrows.  “Was the minotaur a minotaur?” Ronan asks, bending closer to the floor. “Or was it the minotaur?” “Man, I don’t know,” Adam says. “We didn’t take Greek. Wait.” He puts a hand out, on Ronan’s shoulder, and the thing scuffles back into the box again, startled. Adam sighs. “I was just going to say, try to get him into this.” He shucks off his suit jacket and hands it over.  “A little formal, don’t you think?” Ronan asks, but he takes it, nodding. He wracks his brain for something tempting. Opal - of course, he thinks of Opal - had never really fought him, not truly. She’d run from him, sometimes, but he’d dreamt her to be wild. He’d dreamt her. So it was a game they understood, their game. Whoever this thing’s dreamer is, they’re not here. Making himself smaller, Ronan taps his short fingernails on the hard floor - a trick that always worked with curious cats, not so much with terrified children. Adam, seeming to understand him, says, hushed, “Hold on. Here.” He reaches into the pocket of the jacket in Ronan’s arms, pulling out the granola wrapper, shiny and crinkly and eye-catching. The thing peeks around the box, eyes huge and wet. And lovely, Ronan thinks, a cow’s eyes, lashed and very brown. Ronan had once said that Adam had cow eyes, and meant it as a compliment, but Adam hadn’t understood. Maybe now he’ll understand, Ronan thinks. Brown and big and soft, full of something… feeling or thought, the innate kind of love cows have, the love so built into them they wouldn’t notice they had it. But Adam wouldn’t know he had all that in his eyes, would he? Maybe it’s only there when he’s looking at Ronan, anyway.  The creature - the child - comes a little closer, hooves dragging on the floor.

There was a girl my dad was working with who just flat out refused to talk to adults or anyone at all and one day I was there and I saw her wearing a homemade bracelet that had beads that said YLDNDAHFHHACYCSYCDAYDKK and since I was also once a 14 year old making niche homemade mcr merch I was like "oh my god you like dnd Audrey Hepburn Fangoria Harry Houdini and croquet you cant swim you can't dance and you dont know karate!!!" and she looked at me like I'd said literal magic words and now we talk about music all the time
