I am so excited, I am visiting the Jewish community a town over ( 2 1/2 hours bus ride ) but it's the first time in years I will attend a shabbat service with others and we'll discuss if I might join the community and I'm just feeling so much love and pride today for being Jewish 😭

in light of the disgusting photo of shani louk winning an award, with her not even mentioned, i thought it was important to share photos of her when she was still alive. she was beautiful.
may her memory be a blessing.

Living in the islamic regime is like waking up every morning to the news of one more innocent person getting the death penalty because they just wanted to live and be free.

thinking about all the seders with empty seats this pesach. may our loved ones be returned home soon, and may the gd who released am yisrael from egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm do the same for all those who are being held captive and prisoner
rachel goldberg, mother of hersch goldberg-polin—who we hope is still alive and is being held captive—proposes a fifth question for our seders: why are we not all here?

My family just made an extra seder plate and placed it by an extra chair. This seat will not be filled, that seder plate will not be used. That setting will be a reminder for all the hostages that cannot be home for their own celebrations. That empty seat will symbolize all the family members that will not come home for their own seder; the fathers that fell in battle, the husbands stuck far away, the mothers, sisters, daughters, freinds that are so far away and yet so close to our hearts. The Jewish nation are one and our celebrations will never be complete until every hostage is home and this awful war is over.
Gutt Yom Tov and may we not have to wait for next year to be in Jerusalem!

Context matter greatly - but so does language. If we keep calling the Hakenkreuz Swastika, then they start to blend. Which they shouldn't. I think some people may benefit from watching the symbol scene from the da vinci code.
If I describe a tall, bald, white man, talking in german walking around with a german shepherd I assume several people might have a lil "😬" reaction. I am actually however describing my dad, a jewish man who adopted a german shepherd mix and who one could often find in a park in Tel-Aviv, feeding the dog with a spoon because the dog couldn't lower his head anymore for eating. And he might have been on his phone, talking to german relatives. Context really is a key factor.
The Hakenkreuz is of course the most widely known symbol for Nazis and I think there is no shame if people, especially Jewish people, have an initial reaction to seeing the swastika and associating it with Nazis for a moment. But the Hakenkreuz and the Swastika are NOT the same and do not represent the same thing. I personally correct people on the use of the word Swastika vs Haknkreuz, especially because India has a Jewish community and in general Jews have experienced little antisemitism there (I believe the biggest surge was during the time the Portuguese controlled Goa?).
To know the difference is to me also part of knowing my history as a Jew and a sign of respect towards another culture.
not so friendly reminder with diwali coming up that the swastika (swuhs-theek-ahh) is of vedic origin, and it's a symbol of well-being, auspiciousness, and prosperity in hinduism, jainism, and buddhism. it's still common in nepal, mongolia, china, japan, and, most famously, india.
it's been around since 500 BC, and germany appropriated it, making it a symbol of hate.
the symbol on the right? THIS is not offensive. it's stolen culture. please be fully informed before you make any accusations this upcoming holiday season.

nope. don't like the new face at all,,,, I know ppl are excited and I wish I could be too but this feels like a copy of face 1 and if I wanted face 1... I'd pick that. Like all the lil details that made face 2 are gone. Man I esp already miss the lip shape.

sitting in front of my phone, hoping just to hear my family is safe and fine. Twitter is too triggering, screaming for peoples deaths - hoping people will die - & I just sit here, trying not to break down.
