Ok, thinking about yanshen hours. Specifically those who are like, "how can Shen Qiao even LIKE Yan Wushi???" and I gotta say, the way it's written in the novel is very clever because you got to understand what Shen Qiao is truly going through to really pick it up early on.

It is the simple fact that Shen Qiao has lost EVERYTHING. literally EVERYTHING. His home, his sect, his martial family, his friends, health, sight, memories. and who is there for him time and time again, regardless of bad intentions? Yan Wushi.

I don't know about you but when even a shitty person stands by your side when all the 'good' ones just leave you to rot, I'd also trust them more and more. Yan Wushi saved Shen Qiao's life.

For Shen Qiao, at least he knew that the evil man was exactly wut he said he was. Shen Qiao didn't have to guess or speculate. And when your life literally rested in someone like that's hands, how could a foundation of trust and dependability not form? How could you not start loving them?

Of course Shen Qiao fell for him. He was falling for Yan Wushi every time he was true to his (evil) self.

Being betrayed DID cause Shen Qiao to think twice about Yan Wushi, but it only reaffirmed that that was just how Yan Wushi is.

How rare to meet someone so genuine and sure of themselves, because this is also what Yan Wushi eventually sees in Shen Qiao. This is what attracts them to each other! They are fundamentally made of the same stuff and solidly themselves.

To be loved is to rest, and is that not what they eventually get with each other?
