Day 40 - Favorite horror movie.
It's no surprise those who read the previous years' entries but it's still Let the Right One In. Just to add something new, if you liked the movie you should check out the original novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist as well as his other works.

House of 1000 Corpses because I can relate to Captain Spaulding.

Day 38 - Favorite horror character.
It varies (other candidates include Captain Spaulding, Jigsaw, Pennywise, etc) but at the moment I really like Leatherface. As a kid he scared me but now I think he's a very endearing and even lovable character. In comparison to Jason or Michael, there's a childlike innocence to him as he's scared of the people invading his house and just doing what his abusive family tells him to.

Day 37 - Favorite horror franchise.
I'm a bit conflicted at picking the Saw films as it's a very inconsistent franchise but it's hard for me to think of any others that I was as emotionally invested in.

Day 36 - Favorite horror guilty pleasure.
I watched Thir13en Ghosts a lot as a kid. I suppose it's not a great film but it has a lot of fun moments and effective scares.

Day 35 - Horror film you’d like to see remade/rebooted.
I'd really like to see a faithful adaptation of The Shining done right. Unfortunately the original film is one of the few 'sacred cows' in the genre (Stephen King trying to adapt his own novel was considered blasphemy) so I don't see this happening.

Day 34 - Favorite horror remake/reboot.
I really enjoyed Evil Dead Rise and felt it was a great soft reboot for the series. It was gory but also a lot of fun.

Day 33 - Favorite horror film to watch as a child.
Sleepy Hollow was the first R-rated horror film I ever saw and it was a big deal to me growing up. Watching it as an adult I can still appreciate what Burton and co. brought to the table even if it is a bit silly at times.

Day 32 - Horror film you use to hate, but now like.
I never 'hated' Saw III but I was underwhelmed the first time I saw it. Seeing Saw IV made me appreciate what III tried to do in bringing the series to a conclusion (we all know how that worked out) and the director's cut for III also went a long way as well. In the end I think it's a high point for the series.

Day 31 - A horror movie that you’d thought you’d love, but didn’t.
I really wanted to like Renfield. Nicolas Cage as Dracula is great casting and the premise of having Renfield as the protagonist is an interesting one. I left feeling underwhelmed; Cage aside, the film doesn't have much going for it. There's not enough of the Dracula/Renfield dynamic and there's way too much focus on a mafia subplot.

Day 30 - A horror film that no one would expect you to love, but you do.
I found the first two movies in the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy to be fairly standard 'requels'. Halloween Ends on the other hand stuck with me and I think it's a strong film on its own.
I don't blame Halloween fans for being underwhelmed with it given that the final installment of the trilogy was less about Laurie and Michael and more about a newly introduced character. That being said, I was engrossed by Corey's story and Rohan Campbell's performance. I cared about him as a character and wanted things to go right for him and was crestfallen when he reached the point of no return.

Day 29 - Last horror movie seen in theaters.
The last horror film I saw in theaters was Saw X. It’s definitely a return to form for the franchise and I was glad to see Tobin in the spotlight again.
I was a bit baffled that the critics loved this film so much over other films in the franchise, specifically the first three. What made this film a masterpiece and not Saw III? Tobin and Shawnee brought their A-game there as well.

Day 28 - Horror film with a great soundtrack.
I really liked Joseph Renzetti's score in the original Child's Play. It's creepy but also feels like something out of a fairy tale. I wish it could be featured again in the franchise but given the original film being separate rights-wise I don't see that happening.

Day 27 - Best death scene in a horror film.
The death of Captain Henry Rhodes in George Romero's Day of the Dead is one of the most gruesome deaths in a horror film and also one of the most satisfying.

Day 26 - Best use of gore in a horror film.
The French film Inside has the most effective use of gore in my opinion. It's a bloodbath in every sense of the word but it's also masterfully done in terms of directing and acting.

Day 25 - Most disturbing horror film.
There are worse films out there but Speak No Evil is the one that comes to my mind in terms of disturbing horror. It's not a film that I liked but I suppose the filmmakers did not intend it to be.
