here's my oc anna mae's backstory :3
this takes place in a cyberpunk/fantasy world, where there is a lower city where most people live, and a top city, which hovers above the lower city (think alita: battle angel)
the lower city is pretty dirty. it's survivable, but it's not much. no one born in the lower city knew who or what resides in the upper city, but they viewed it and talked about it almost as a "heaven". the upper city casts a shadow over the lower city.
however, everything that everyone thought they knew about the upper city started to shift when anna mae came into the picture. one afternoon, when everyone was going about their business, something crashed into the ground of the lower city. of course, it turned out to be anna.
at first, she barely spoke, and she said nothing about the city she was seen hurling down from. soon enough, she started to talk, but not to everyone. anna appeared to have connections with powerful people, and she used them to gain power and status for herself.
in not a lot of time, she became one of the most powerful people in the lower city. this is when she started the library. the library is a slightly criminal organization that distributes information about the city above. (think whispers between two figures in a dimly lit alleyway)
people that want to know about the upper city can know about it, but only for a price. and if the word is spread to the wrong people, then there are consequences. along with information, the library is also a huge storage for, well, actual weapons.
anna mae still doesn't talk much about her past, but it is clear that she is out for revenge. currently, she runs the library along with three others.
