Review_The Night Comes For Us
Netflix mulai serius memasuki pasar Indonesia dengan menjadikan TNCFU sebagai Netflix Original pertama dari negara ini. Tak heran, selain berkat nama besar Timo Bros., Joe Taslim dan Iko Uwais di jagad film aksi, pamor Netflix juga menjadi 'hype booster' untuk film berdurasi sekitar dua jam ini.
TNCFU sendiri menyorot perburuan Triad bernama the 6seas setelah dikhianati oleh Ito, salah satu anggota terjago mereka, yang diperankan oleh Joe Taslim. Ito digambarkan sebagai mesin pembunuh yang tidak kenal ampun hingga hatinya luluh saat ia bertemu Reina, seorang anak kecil yang menjadi calon korbannya.
Koreografi bela diri yang ditampilkan dalam film ini sangat luar biasa indahnya. Aksi Ito dan kawan-kawan yang bertekad untuk melindungi Reina dari kejaran 6seas tidak pernah membuat saya merasa bosan. Penonton pun 'dimanjakan' dengan adegan gore penuh darah hampir di sepanjang film. Ditambah dengan palet warna yang digunakan oleh Director of Photography membuat film ini semakin fantastik.
Sayangnya, meski dari segi visual TNCFU masuk dalam kategori indah, poin plus ini tidak dibarengi dengan naskah yang kuat. Beberapa tokoh terasa hambar karena karakterisasi yang kurang dipoles. Contoh utamanya adalah tokoh Shinta (Salvita Decorte) dan Alma (Dian Sastro) yang jika dihilangkan dari plot tidak akan mengubah apa pun.
Penampilan terbaik yang tidak diduga-duga datang dari beberapa karakter sampingan seperti Zack Lee sebagai Bobby dan Revaldo sebagai Yohan. Keduanya menampilkan the next level acting yang bahkan lebih bagus dari beberapa nama besar di film ini.
Plot yang disodorkan penulis naskah belum bisa dibilang jempolan. Alurnya unnecessarily convoluted karena berbagai subplot dan pengenalan karakter yang terlalu memaksa seolah-olah penulis ingin memberikan screen time yang adil untuk semua main dan lead aktor. Terakhir, sebagian orang mungkin akan menilai epilog film yang kentang tidak diperlukan karena sudah ada adegan yang mewakili keinginan penulis untuk membuka jalan demi sekuel. (SPOILER ALERT: Reina terlihat sudah berada di kapal laut menuju tempat aman dari 6seas)
Meski film ini menawarkan layanan visual bela diri di atas rata-rata, masih perlu ada perbaikan dari sisi naskah dan penulisan karakter. Ada baiknya penulis dan sutradara Timo Tjahjanto menekan pedal rem dalam proses pembuatan film.
Final verdict: 6/10

ROGUE ONE_
It’s been ages since the last time I updated this blog. I decided to write again after seeing a friend’s film review blog and the fact that I’m so bored with everything right now encourages me more to open tumblr again.
Here’s the thing… I just watched Rogue One last night. However, I feel conflicted about the movie.
The movie starts with young Jyn Erso, the daughter of an Empire scientist, fleeing to a manhole right after Director Krennic, an Empire general, kills her mother and takes her father (played by Mads Mikkelsen) to the Empire headquarter. An extremist named Saw (Forest Whitaker) finds her and invites her to join the Rebellion.
The next thing about the story is your standard revenge saga movies; how the whole Rebellion plot against the Empire by exploiting a breach inside the evil organisation.
The movie is incredibly well-acted. Especially, the chemistry between Felicity Jones (Adult Jyn Erso) and Diego Luna. There is no over the top romantic plot and that’s the biggest turn-on I find in this movie.
On the contrary, I feel bored with the Act 2. I don’t know why I didn’t get to the climax at all. It is supposed to be filled with action scenes but the pace is a bit off.
The final act, however, is amazing. It’s daring and bold. It outshines the previous pieces of the movie.

I find myself caught up in a tight space right now. I still can move but the space is too narrow. Should I put both of my hands in my pockets? Should I let my hair falls down on my shoulder? Nevertheless, I can see the others have freed themselves. Breeze of the morning is their friend right now. Looking at my stomach, my legs don’t function anymore. They feel excruciating pain endlessly. They get used to it.
I can still crawl, mother! Help me!
She said, “Of course, son.” But she was not ready to help me stand on my ground. She does’t know how to! I thought she knew!
I looked at my father. He shrugged. “I’m tired”.
Of course he’s tired!
I can’t blame them. Hell, I’m not allowed to blame anyone.
I think I did a good job. I thought. It’s pitch black now.

I am extremely angry and baffled by these people who post NSFW photos of victims of accidents, natural disasters, and the likes.
It is NOT appropriate and it is very rude of them. Imagine you see a picture of one of your family or your SO lying among very tall grass with their body parts scattered in places. It is not and will never be a good picture to remember. You want to remember them in their best physical condition.
If only people would be more considerate and careful before posting things on the internet, I would not be this angry. Just a couple minutes ago before I wrote this ranting, a relative of mine shared a photo of victims of a car accident. It was not pleasant. It was traumatic.
Dear, humans. Think twice. Be nice. Respect each other’s eyes.
