I feel like this a lot. A lot of ableism autistic people talk about facing I've NEVER dealt with. And it's a privilege, for sure, but I want to shake the online world by the shoulders like. THERE IS HOPE. ITS NOT AS MISERABLE AS IT SEEMS.

Just a little something I've discovered after talking to a few people irl, some autistic some not. That the whole "I can totally relate to this [quite severe problem/ presentation of autism etc] for [in comparison minor, so non comparable reason]" thing that constantly happens to (us as) MSN & HSN, visibly autistic, semi- & nonverbal, etc ... online is like. Seen as absolute bullshit by everyone ive told about it. Everyone is like "well of Course this isnt the time for them to interrupt / talk over / make it about them / etc. It doesnt make sense to do it, it's not the same thing, etc".

It's hard sometimes when you feel like everyone just wants to erase or (mis- ?) appropriate what you go through and work so hard to share for awareness (etc), but this is just some very vocal people who no one but their own circle agrees with that this is okay behavior

I can’t believe how accurate this is. I’ve had a rock collection since I was a kid, and I’m still collecting them to this day.

Do any of you relate to this? If so, what do you like to collect? It can be plushies, toys, whatever. :)

my dermatillomania is so bad right now.

I had to go to the bathroom, but instead of actually using it, I catch myself standing in front of the mirror, searching for scabs, spots or anything to scratch open.

I starred into that mirror for about an hour.

my face is now completely red.

I look like absolute shit.

too busy?? that's a COZY busy. like yes. the world is colorful and busy and I can sit and relax in the midst of it all. it's cool and chill in a warm comforting snuggly way.

Ok but- what if he could fix me? What if a single hug from him would make it all feel better?

I don't understand this perspective? I understand who some autistic might not want to be cured. I'm one of them. But if you're actively saying you wish you weren't autistic, what's the problem with talking about a cure? It looks to me like the only problem is the WORD 'cure' bc both autistic people in this example wanted to be fixed.

other autistic person: i understand and relate, sometimes i wish i could be fixed somehow

(Not trying to invalidate anyone, PDA sounds awful and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But blame Adam, not God lol.)

is there any reason Kiku likes the puzzle piece symbol for autism? i know a lot of people don’t like it, so i was wondering if Kiku would be comfortable sharing Kiku’s opinions. sorry if this has been asked before! i just saw Kiku’s low tech aac post and was wondering. no pressure for Kiku to answer, of course

Yes there is actually. Kiku grew up disabled but undiagnosed, so figuring out that Kiku is autistic (and Kiku's other disabilities) was like finding the missing piece to a puzzle. Kiku finally knew why Kiku was different, why Kiku had a hard time doing things other people found easy. And also puzzles are a big special interest for Kiku and hold good memories. Kiku used to puzzles with Kiku's granny.

there are gay bars and lesbian bars and then “normal” straight bars so i think there should be aroace bars where absolutely none of that happens and we can sit there and discuss warhammer lore instead
