Yeah I saw the lovecraftian horrors and didn’t succumb to madness. What- no I’m not a cultist, James. For Christ’s sake. What you’re forgetting my friend is that HP Lovecraft wasn’t a flexible man. His brain simply wasn’t stretchy enough to take it all in. I however, have short term memory issues. Flexibility is the name of the game when you can’t remember if you ate lunch or not. a hot take, but horror? the most tender & romantic genre. 

i come from the 8tracks generation where you weren't allowed to just dump three and a half twee indie folk/tswift records into a fanmix and call it done. on 8tracks you had 8+ handpicked songs in rigid chronological order and an accompanying mission statement and thesis defence detailing exactly why each one applied to your derek x stiles coffee shop au AND cover/track-list art hodgepodged from stolen pinterest/tumblr aesthetic photography, and all of this was done under constant threat of death because it was the DMCA wild west and the site was in a constant state of gradual collapse.

with that out of the way:

LOGIC [Easy: Success] - One is a doctor, and one is a scientist. Do NOT get it mixed up.

I recently started listening to Ghost Wax, and I'm enjoying it! It reminds me a lot of early TMA. The horror is unique and creepy, I'm enjoying the world building, and that it feels kinda like the Institute, if only the people that worked there actually did or accomplished anything lol (I really thought at the beginning of TMA that the rest of the institute would come into play at some point as the people who investigated the stuff, since there was an artifact storage and such, but that never came about). Like if The Archivist was Dr. Malcolm Ryder from A Voice from Darkness instead of Jon Sims.

But it also has the same "problem" TMA has, in that most of the statements come across as a writer telling a story and not a real person trying to relate their lived experience. They're all very articulate, include just enough relevant personal history, metaphors that are poetic but not something you just spout on the spot if you're telling someone about the worst moment of your life etc. There might be an in universe explanation for it like TMA eventually added but it's a tad immersion breaking.

I also wish the acting was just a tadddddd stronger. Voncid the protag has grown on me, and most of the statement givers understand their assignment perfectly, but some of the side characters are unconvincing. But I have a lot to go so I hope they settle in.

If you liked TMA I def recommend giving it a shot.

I'm barely even halfway through but seconding all this, especially the ease of the gameplay loop and UI. Between fast travel, map markers, leveling items, stationing guards to grab collectables etc, they made it super easy to just play the damn game. And it's super gorgeous, as Vanillaware is. The dialogue writing is super tight. It really is just the main scenario writing that could stand to be upgraded, as the plot so far could not be more straightforward. But still, enjoyable.

I really enjoyed Unicorn Overlord! The story is simple but I never was bored. The fact that each of the characters you could hire had some kind of story and motivation for being in this world is pretty great.

The game also felt so smooth?! I never played such a convenient game?? Like you don't want to watch the fight animations over and over again? No problem you can skip them! You want to try to give the ring to someone else? After finishing the game you get the option to try them all out. You don't want to grind into oblivion to level up? Here are books and apples that level you up lmao

There are so many other things about this game which just show oh someone actually played their game and then added stuff for convenience!!

I think they even had like the audio and music volume options regulated from the start where voice lines are louder so you can actually hear the people over the background music. So far I only see otome games do that.

I also love how I could change Alains hair into pink. GOTY tbh 🦄
