im feeling nostalgic for ye olde days of the lorien legacies fandom so

A Non-Conprehensive List of Things We All Did In The Lorien Legacies Fandom c.2014

• Everyone followed each other because the fandom was small but active.

• Counting to 10 but skipping the number 5 because he's not part of the squad we all hate him

• Hating the movie

• Scoffing at the much more popular Divergent series because "our Four is better..."

• Everyone had same faceclaims and none of them were actual teenagers. Marina was Nina Dobrev or nothing.

• People haaaaaaated Sarah. A lot.

• John/Sarah vs John/Six vs Sam/Six vs Nine/Six vs Nine/Ella

• But no-one argued with Marina/Eight #Navrina

• Yeah why were we all okay with Nine/Ella??? Sure we all "aged her up" and wrote stories that were set 10 years in the future but come on now

• Everyone loved Devektra and Sandor

• Especially that one swiftie who stanned Devektra like no-one else and soon everyone was using Taylor Swift as their Devektra faceclaim

• "All the other girls want a boy like John or Nine, but I want an Eight ;)" Again I reiterate that this was c.2014. Also Eight was still described as a hot boy with abs so...

• Wait a good number of people used <8 instead of <3

• Marina=Elsa

• Everyone was CERTAIN that book 6 was gonna be called "Return of Eight" but then it wasn't and we were all mad

• People started falling off around Revenge of Seven becauseit was noticeably worse than the others :(

• Stanley the cat was everyone's favourite Chimaera :)

• And there were a TONNE of crackship brotp fics/fanart about Nine and Stanley

• No, seriously, a group of people organised ship weeks and there was a Ninely ship week

• They also held a poll to determine what their official ship name would be and my suggestion, Ninely, won... my legacy I guess?

• Haha legacy

• Okay speaking of legacies there was a surprising lack of oc's and self-inserts...

• Like they existed, there were a hundred different fics called I Am Number Eleven, but not as much as you would have thought

• Also a surprising lack of queer headcanons? I can't think of any popular gay ships. John/Nine was kinda treated like a crackship but I think Sam/Adam had a decent following. Not nearly as popular as Sam/Six or Adam/One, but still

• WAIT NO Pittacus Lore/Setrakus Ra was the most popular same sex ship!!!! It was mostly a crackship but there were also a lot of people who were genuinely invested!

• Idk why or who started it but everyone called Setrakus Ra "Mousetraps" pls tell me people still do that

• There was so much speculation about who Pittacus reincarnated was. Most popular were John, Marina, Ella and, controversially, Five.

• It ended up being John, right? I didn't read the last two books and I probably never will someone tell me if it was John.

All-in-all it was a super fun fandom!! Because it was so small and we were so passionate it felt really friendly and I hope that everyone currently active in the fandom is having as much fun with it!!

i've been out of the fandom for years now but i had to reblog this and say i'm 100% responsible for vek/sandor/crayton/lex and taylor as vek 😂

Random bits of Lorien Legacies fandom history I remember:

- Everyone thinking Five was going to be a girl before The Fall of Five came out and people living their truth writing all those self inserts and oc girl fives who always ended up smooching Nine (who didn't love a good self insert?)

- all those anti Five memes after TFOF which were like "i am number four fans counting to ten 1 2 3 4 not you 6 7 8 9 10"

- that facebook game about mark james that may or may not have been a fever dream

- everyone calling setrakus ra mousetraps for some reason. I don't remember why.

- the fandom making Eight's sole character trait pizza because he referenced it one time. Also whitewashing him with Robert Sheehan edits.

- that time I was really into crack ships and someone took one look at a Nine/Marina fic I wrote bluescreened and did a whole essay on how ridiculous ships made them quit the fandom and everyone called them out on it

- Sam/Six ship being named Stormchaser

- When John/Six/Sam love triangle was going on and everyone went out of their way to hate on Sarah (and also that time everyone thought she was a traitor?? I forgot how that worked out my brain is telling me Setrakus shapeshifted into her but i haven't read it for ages so idk)

- the iconic fic I read once where the fic author didn't like Sarah so they included a scene where her head exploded and she was secretly a robot the whole time to get her out of the picture go bold or go home

- the time everyone started liking Sarah and making critiques of John's character and the series shitty writing #SarahHartDeservedBetter

- the time @officialpittacuslore rocked up, pointed at John and Nine and said "yes, I'll have some more of whatever those two have going on", dug a pit, labelled it 'Stohn' and everyone jumped in overnight (gay alien pit throwback uwu)

- astohnymous sending everyone in the fandom incorrect quotes on anon

- Six/Marina rising in popularity. Sirina supremacy. There is no heterosexual explanation for dreaming about seeing a girl on the beach that's soulmate energy right there.

- sandor/devektra/crayton/lexa fics and edits were a big thing for a while and devektra was always taylor swift

- the period before the revenge of seven was released where there was a countdown centred around celebration of fan content creation where everyone wrote fics and did art and edits for a certain theme!

- the time I got so annoyed by this random guy named Devdan just disappearing and never being mentioned again I made a whole detailed theory involving alternate timelines to make it so Devdan is Eight from a bad!future. I still think this is a cool theory and better than the actual explanation, bad and lazy writing.

- one time I ran a secret santa for the fandom and legend says I still haven't removed the page from my blog because I just forgot to for years. Literally. It's still on my blog. Wth?? Shameful 😔 my blog is terrible but what do you expect i dont get paid

- the shittacuslore and setracrapra RP blogs

- also I have a Malcolm roleplay sideblog I hardly ever used don't know if that counts as a significant moment of fandom history but I just find it funny how out of all characters I could have RPd I chose him. Could have picked a character with cool powers and telekinesis but I pointed at the local traumatised amnesia dad and was like "yes, I will be him", made 3 posts and never used it again.

- I've been an Adam stan since I first joined this fandom and the first thing I contributed to this fandom was a coloured pencil drawing of One wjth a surfboard, and it's been glorious watching Adam rise from 'character people are vaguely aware of but most haven't read the side-stories so they don't know about him to care enough' to 'fan favourite who deserves everything in the world and also look at him he's depressed and queer' (no I am not projecting ok maybe i am but can you blame me) anyway shoutout to Knave for all the Adam content over the years it feeds me

- The time people were coming up with shipnames for fun and I said Kevy for Kelly/Five and everyone rolled with it but it was actually a typo the whole time and doesn't even make sense when you look at it but it was too late to go back no i don't remember why we were discussing shipping kelly/five

- That solid week and a half everyone aggressively shipped Malcolm and Henri

- when legacies reborn came out and there was a resurgence of energy and theories around all the new characters

Anyway I joined the tumblr fandom ~2013 but I've been in this fandom since 2011, before The Rise of Nine was even released. Also what the actual bleeping heck it is 2021 and 2011 was TEN YEARS AGO?? A WHOLE DECADE????? Help

“Look I’m not-” she let out a frustrated breath and stared at her hands tangled together in her lap. “These feelings are new to me. I’m 36, I’ve never had a boyfriend before. Never have been with anyone before. Out of choice. But now...” she raised his gaze to him, to his damn beautiful eyes that knew her so well. “Now I’m with you. And I’m happy that I am. But you have to understand- I might not be able to give you everything you want.”

He wanted to tell her that he was in the same boat with her, that he hadn’t been with anyone since Lorien, that he feels just like, but it wasn’t true, not really. He had partners on Lorien, he knew what it was like to want someone. Lexa didn’t, hadn’t until recently. Instead, he nodded and placed both of his hands on top of hers.

At that, Lexa was speechless. Her eyes darted around Crayton’s face, the soft smile on his lips, the understanding in his eyes. Her lungs felt as if they were being crushed by bricks, by her own feelings that she wanted to run away from or tear them apart, but he needed to understand and she needed to finally be free.

“Okay. Rules.” she took a deep breath and brought Cray’s hands to the side of her body. She could feel the weight of his body shifting on the mattress by her side and his hands stiffening on her curves of her stomach. His eyes widened a little and redness spread across his face and for a moment she thought he was about to run away. “From here...” she dragged his hands to her waist. “To here. On my back too, but not on the front.”

He blinked a few times, and nodded too, more than what she needed. “Okay.”

She lifted his hands and put them halfway on her thigh, then pushes them to her knees. “And from here to there.”

Lastly, she placed his hands to her shoulders. With that, Crayton didn’t need help. He brought one of them to her cheek, feeling the skin on her neck as he trailed up, her jaw under his thumb. It felt like an age before Lex spoke again, her voice quiet as a whisper. “You can hold my hand too, and hug me, and kiss me. When we’re alone, if you don’t mind. That’s all I can give you right now.”

He stroked her cheek back and forth, and something sparked in his eyes. Something of innocence, almost pleading. “That’s all I want right now,” he leaned closer and pressed further on her cheek.

In that moment, for the first time in her life, Lexa felt needed. She caught him in a kiss and Cray gasped in surprised nearly falling off the bed, but a heartbeat later he pushes himself to her again, putting his hands on her hips like she showed him while she cupped his face.

They hadn’t kissed like this since their first kiss, he realized, and she took him off guard that time too. He let her take the lead, experimenting with every tilt of her head, and opened his mouth to let her do what she wanted with it. It was a bit awkward, he won't lie, but he didn't kiss anybody in 11 years, so it was partly on him too.

Her fingers ran through his hair and settled at the back of his neck, playing at the edges there. Lex felt, almost drunk, to be true. Most of all, she felt good. He was patient with her, slow, and his kissed were always pleasant, even if she was afraid of them.

She broke free for air, panting with swollen lips. Cray's eyes were heavily lidded and his palms were open on her back, outstretching, reassurring. Some of the weight in her chest had gone out, and there was only air now inside. Like clouds.

"Thank you," she said.

Cray nodded at her and kissed her face, so gently she barely felt it. "You're welcome, Lex."
