I want to run a story past anyone willing to read this post.
I got this idea from a dream, like many of my ideas. It's about these two guys named Jessie and Courtney. Courtney is 5'4 and built like an MMA fighter. Jessie is 5'1 trans guy on the chunkier side.
Jessie is driving home fairly late night after his shift when a decidedly supernatural being runs past his car. Jessie gets out and follows the tracks, as he also hunts rogue supernatural beings. This doesn't pay this bills, so his day is only going to get longer. At a certain point, he meets Courtney, who'd been following the same being. They talk about the being for a few minutes while Jessie's knees threaten to buckle and his heart wants to explode. Eventually, they part ways and Jessie is able to go home to his daughter, who was being babysat by his vampire best friend. (Supernatural beings have been 'out of the coffin' for over a hundred years).
Courtney had moved back to the New Orleans area a few weeks before meeting Jessie. While it is true he'd missed the area and wanted to be closer to his family again, that's not the only reason he's moved back. Courtney's been staying with one of his brother's while looking for his own place. He's also accepted a job at a local emergency vet clinic. The same vet clinic Jessie works at. Courtney becomes close to Jessie as they work together. Both at the clinic and in searching for the being. Jessie even encourages Courtney to follow his dreams of making custom jewelry.
As they grow closer and fall in love, they open up to each other. Jessie explains his transition journey and Courtney explains all the reasons he moved back to New Orleans. They become stronger together. I'm thinking of turning this story into 2+ books and have them discover Jessie is pregnant a few days after getting word that Jessie parents, who had disowned him after coming out, are planning on suing Jessie and his ex for custody of their daughter. His parents ate, apparently, convinced that Jessie and his ex couldn't possibly be raising Amelia correctly.
Thank you so much for reading this post. Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.
