To bad he can't find the words to tell little Woodie about their shared curse. Not without a way to break it
#her whining is her gently trying to tell Walter to stop moping and go comfort his son#bc if she has to do it herself Walter is getting demoted to her 2nd favorite guy (behind Woodie)#she is the entire emotional intelligence of this operation. everything would fall to shambles without her#like for a bit she’s indecisive abt who to comfort bc Walter is as upset as Woodie is in that last panel#but at some point she’s gotta tell Walter to put his big boy pants on and deal with it#I think she plays with Woodie like a golden retriever plays with a tiny kitten. which is Very Gently and very excited#also I’m sure it was unintentional but both of their clothes are So Clean when both Walter and Woodie are drawn to dirt and mud like moths#to a flame. clothes don’t stay clean for them for any amount of time#so someone Just Did the Laundry right before this scene#and their hard work is gonna get completely messed up in the next part I’m certain#I think it’s funniest if next morning if Wolfgang lectures Walter and Woodie for messaging up their clothes That Badly#bc he Just Fucking Cleaned those clothes#I am so completely normal abt this comic what are you talkin abt

#they are both so afraid of being alone again#Walter is the first adult in Woodie’s life that hadn’t immediately written him off bc of his curse and really engaged with his interests#let alone both!#Woodie is probably desperate to get/keep his approval and terrified of driving him off by being ‘too much’ or too monsterous#consider Woodie getting extremely triggered by the phrase “put him/it down” bc even though the idea of killing him to get rid of the curse#was shut down by the adults around him growing up#it was still suggested and that was very traumatizing for him#and oh boy Walter is trying his best to be the best parent to Woodie he can be#and he knows he should accept Woodie’s curse for what it is#but he can’t help but wish he could free Woodie from it#bc not only has Walter had his own terrible experiences with having a similar curse but also#he can see how traumatized Woodie is from how people have treated him bc of it#and Walter hates himself for the chance he might lose control and hurt the ppl he cares about bc his curse#and the idea that Woodie might fall into the same cycle of self-hatred is killing him#and he’s terrified of Woodie not only finding out abt his cause and thinking he’s dangerous#but also finding out the lengths he takes to hide his curse bc if Walter’s so ashamed of his own curse#what does that say abt how he sees Woodie when he has such a similar curse?#such an emotionally charged subject for the both of them#I like to think Walter freaked the fuck out when he realized he was Woodie’s parent now#terrified less of the parental responsibility and more of the chance of failing to be the role model Woodie deserves#then he vents abt it to Webber like ‘I am not cut out for this someone’s who’s better at this should be taking care of him not me’#Webber: ‘well he didn’t choose someone else. he looks up to you yknow?’#Walter: ‘/why though/‘#he cannot imagine someone wanting him to be their parent#but also being Woodie’s parent and spending time with this bright funny kid who’s as interested in nature as he is makes him happier than#he’s been in a long time. maybe ever#and he’s so afraid to lose that and he’s so afraid of Woodie hating him

#OH MY GOLLY OH GOD#THAT RIGHT THERE THAT’S THE GOOD STUFF#love how Walter is so obviously hashtag Projecting his insecurities abt his curse#Woodie’s curse as a metaphor for undiagnosed ADHD#jdbdjshdjjdbdhsj#I think that was The worst thing Walter could’ve said to woodie#bc it highlights Woodie’s fears of getting rejected bc of both his curse and his personality of being ‘too much to handle’#two things that he cannot control and are very hard to separate from who he is as a person#I really like Walter’s parenting being flawed bc he spent so long isolating himself#he is fully aware that he is way too socially and emotionally inept to take care of a child let alone a traumatized rebellious teenager#unfortunately (and very fortunately) for him lil woodie imprinted on him like a baby gosling#so he has to find a way to Get His Shit Together and Figure It The Fuck Out#meanwhile Woodie is so very sensitive to getting rejected and excluded by both authority figures and peers that it hits him where it hurts#I like to think Walter’s sigh at the end came out sounding a lot more like a sob than he intended#delicious delicious angst. complements to the chef

At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu.
