If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.
Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.
Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.
Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.
Me (27M) and my friends (both 30M) wanted to start up a bread business together. We were going to build this massive bridge just to make bread. But we built the bridge straight into this family's base. The mom said she could build to the edge of the property and we were okay with that. She said she was gonna burn it down though! And one of her sons said it was "like a torture device!" We just want to make bread! We also made a railway along the center of the bridge to get from one end to the next. Totally innocent! But I guess that family spread the word about the bridge and suddenly everyone is trying to burn it down! Do we really deserve this?
Edit: Okay, I may be forgetting the part that we used the bridge to kill the mom and one of her sons. But my friend was boogey'd! He needed to clear the curse! (and it was totally an epic kill)
Hiya traffic folks!
I wanna do an AITA styled stream where the prompts / scenarios are from different life members POVs of any season
If there's any you'd like to submit feel free to comment on this or use the tag trafficaita
I realised too late that twitter wasn't the best place to ask as they could only do the title and not elaborate with the proper story
I saw a really good take on it. Basically it's because he's aged and he's been through more and his life is falling apart. It's a good contrast to how silky smooth his voice is in Our Time, when he's full of hope and he's just met his friends that he's going to go on this journey with for the next 20 years.
hey uh. genuine question why does jonathan groff sound like That at the beginning of old friends
I never thought I'd get so much enjoyment watching people take those lie detector tests, yet here I am watching Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez and I am having the time of my life with it. I haven't even seen Merrily We Roll Along but I'm so entertained bc I love all three of them and their chemistry alone makes me want to see the show
i was casually listening to the merrily we roll along soundtrack all the way through. i have no idea what the story is about. i have no idea what the lyrics said. but i'm crying? what the fuck?
highly recommend but you will get "how did you get to be here?! bum bum ba-dum! what was the moment?!" stuck in your head
Actually I've already processed all five stages of grief in regards to a beloved author from my childhood very publicly making the jump from "milquetoast liberal with unexamined biases" to "actively dangerous bigot who will double down into perpetuity" and will no longer be basing any part of my identity on her intellectual property! Thanks for asking!
