Tunnel Baby Dev Log: Setting The Scene
Over the weekend, I dedicated time to building out the outdoor scene for our upcoming horror game, Tunnel Baby
Building the Terrain
When building out terrain, I start out in Blender. I think having a single texture for terrain is boring and does not match the look I am going for. I wanted to have two types of grass and a gravel road. I built out a shader for my terrain's texture and exported my Blender file to Godot as a .glb file.
Using the Terrain in Engine
Once I brought the terrain in, I had to convert the .glb to a .tscn. This is so I could build a scene around my model in Godot. Geometries are brought over, but my shader I built out in Blender did not come through. Oh no! (not really- this is solved easily)
I had to rebuild a new shader in Godot- which thankfully wasn't too different than the one I built in Blender.
I added some trees and rocks onto my mesh and then a little spooky flair to the whole thing.
And there you have it- a great setting for an early section of Tunnel Baby.
