I think āCanceling the bar-mitzvahā does an amazing job at showing Mendelās character growth. We actually see him acting like a mature father figure for Jason and admitting that he cannot always fix things. This really pays off because: No matter how silly and sweet people portray Mendel. In Act one he is just as flawed as Marvin and Whizzer. In the first act he doesnāt actually care about Jason or Trinaās well being only caring to use his position to get into a relationship with Trina, even hoping Jason acts out more even though that would worsen Trinaās mental state. He also even states that he thinks that Trinaās issues and strife are all a priori (unreasonable) even thinking that she is easily fixable. āJust five sessions on my couch sheāll be like newā so once in Act two when Whizzer gets sick he must realize that he cannot help or control the situation. He is forced to register that he has to take himself down from his own pedestal and understand that the advice of feeling all right for the rest of your life, will not work. So as he matures and gets out of falsettoland him understanding that the best he can do is be there for others and help where he can. That he is not always the solution but can just help aid to assist and comfort the others around him really pays off. This all leads him to the growth we see in āCanceling the bar-mitzvahā and further on in āFalsettoland repriseā when he embraces the others in the new tight-nit family.
we as a collective need to stop hating on "shrek the third" like sure it's the weakest of the franchise BUT it has so many iconic moments like are we forgetting every single scene with the princesses and when snow white belted out "immigrant song" and all the animals went feral... or donkey with the baby ogre head saying "DADA" or the crackhead wizard guy... like guys come on now š
my unwanted opinion on āsmashā season 2 because i didnāt have anyone to talk to about it (in no particular order)
i know iām late but i have THOUGHTS.
- i hate the āhit listā musical subplot. it wasnāt interesting to me at all and i found myself getting bored everytime jimmy and karen were on screen together. i really didnāt care about their relationship or their musical at all
- karen was so unnecessarily rude to ivy, i get ivy was in the wrong but so was dev, and she treated ivy so bad. (i am also a massive ivy apologist sorry!)
- jimmy was the most unlikable character ever?? like were we meant to root for him?? he was so unreliable and stupid and the only time i actually did like him was when he said that tony speech for kyleā¦ keep him locked up šš
- this is kind of an unpopular opinion but i really couldnāt care less about kyle getting hit by a car. like i get itās sad because he was a nice guy but he was in the show for like 2 seconds. i felt no connection to his character and yeah
- ivy DESERVED that tony and the role of marilyn!! i was so happy to see her win and i loved seeing karenās stupid sad face. take the L. i just wish they didnāt have her get it ruined by getting preg š„²
