“In my dreams I am kissing your mouth and you’re whispering ‘where have you been?’ I say, ‘I’ve been lost but I’m here now. You’re the only person who has ever been able to find me.’”

““I hope that someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight, and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms, without an ounce of selfishness in it.” - Unknown”

“I like to think that in another life we might have met under different circumstances. Imagine something like this: a crowded café downtown, where the rich smell of freshly brewed coffee hits you the moment you open the door. People are tripping over one another in their haste to become someone worthwhile and their chatter drowns out your favourite part of your current favourite song. You take out your phone and replay it, and that is when you see me. Doesn’t it always go like this? In movies and books and songs? Eyes meet across the room and the whole world stops. It’s different for us, though, because you told me you didn’t believe in love at first sight. So maybe you wouldn’t fall in love right away. Maybe you wouldn’t even notice me. But perhaps you’d start visiting that busy café more frequently. Not in hopes of seeing me again, but because of that unexplainable pull you feel toward that place. Toward me, even if you aren’t aware of it yet. Because if there is one thing I’m certain of, it’s that we’d find a way to meet even in another life, again and again. Never the same way but always with the same outcome. If there’s one thing I want to believe in, it’s that my soul would reach out and find yours through the years, different lives, across universes and mountains and the sea. And that your response would always be the same: come find me, I’m dying to meet you.”

THIS ^^
I wish everyone would admit that classic literature is inherently difficult to read, and that you shouldn’t feel stupid if you don’t “get it”. Especially the dark academia/ classic lit fandoms and stuff. Like unless you have the vocabulary and pop culture knowledge of an 18th century nobleman, it’s going to be a tough read. It’ll take you longer to read; you’re not stupid if you’ve spent several months on a single book! And you don’t have to enjoy everything. It’s okay if you got bored after one chapter of Wuthering Heights, and couldn’t be bothered to read the rest. It’s okay if you want to read your favourite kids book for the 10th time instead. You’re not stupid. No piece of literature is inherently better, more “important”, more “meaningful”, or more “intellectual” than another. First and foremost, read what brings you joy.

Just redid my shelves again. Can’t seem to decide! If only I didn’t have a huge support pole in the center of my basement library.

What do I love about books?
I love how I fall headfirst into books. I can be reading, and lose all track of time. When I’m reading a fight scene, I can see myself in it. The words float away, and I can see the scene before my eyes. I can feel the cold of the knife pressed against my neck as the villain presses it into the hero’s neck. I can feel the rain on my skin as it pours down around them. I can feel the exploding happiness or the overwhelming fear they feel. So what do I love about books? I love how, for a brief time, I become the person in them. For just a brief time, I have an amazing adventure.

Give me a prompt. Make it love, heartbreak, or sadness. I’ll write a response to each.

During all this sickness and fear, I want to text you and find out if you’re alright. It’s been months since we’ve seen each other. But I stop myself, because if you cared, you’d have called me first...
