Matthew is going to have a TVD verse (since if I read the first book correctly he is 1500 plus years making him older than the originals) to fit him in the universe. He will be most likely be one of their first turns after becoming vampires. Since Matthew is French originally, I was thinking maybe he was turned by either Rebekah or Klaus, or Lucien or Aurora.
