• Related to this : The Rust Factory - Norma (<- comics) I had SO much fun doing the vintage style of flash backs and imagination: I would have kicked myself for ignoring this very impactful style for its time.

Audrey pic: Context - Extract from the 2022 RP "It was the story of a corporate that had made a great scientific revolutionary invention! It was called D-Sire, a simple, medicated, fabulous everyday object that people couldn't live without. But during the process of improving the product, which was intended to target wider markets to make more profit, the D-Sire had unfortunately gone awry, causing a great catastrophe unparalleled among mankind. All cities had been wiped off the map, leaving only willless mutant humans and animals. The heroine had to flee her city, survive and fight her way back to the creator of the D-sire, who had abandoned his company and changed his identity. Coal was terrified of this cheap soap opera with its terrible special effects made of modelling clay and the saturated offbeat sound of the black-and-white picture on the small TV screen." A more than obvious reference to the AU Truffula Flu. And a huge reference to @audtreegrace, @miru667 's character. So of course, I don't have all the context since it's a vast AU with lots and lots of details, but I've got enough of a basis for my friends to recognize and that's good enough for me :> Nathan has already confused Audrey Grace with Audrey, the actress from their series HAHA. Alas, the Audrey and Ted of his world won't be born for several years. He didn't find the actress, but he did find a good friend with whom to talk for hours about anything and everything ♥

Norma Bellini pic: Well, Norma pin-up, because why not! In vintage calendar mode, because I love vintage aesthetics. And yes, those are the right dates I went to check on good old calendars haha. At first I wanted to do it in a swimsuit, but then I preferred the picnic. I love picnics.

Too big to fail pic: I had to do it! Of course I had to! The only time I've redone such an iconic portrait was for the first version of Cashtea-ler in the Let It Flow fanzine, in 2022 (I should do a new one with his new head). Nathan Cole (@1940s-onceler | @nalak-bel 's), in black and white in his best soot-colored suit!

Compilation : Just Normaler, to appreciate Normaler. On a more serious note, I like the idea that Nathan was guided throughout his first times by ladies, and not the reverse. I love this not-so-little whining man.

Birthday gift for my dear friend @nalak-bel who owns @1940s-onceler ♥

• The Rust Factory - Norma II (<- BONUSES, illustrations in color) I don't always get the chance to do big works, but when I can, I do! I'm happy to develop The Rust Factory's universe a little more in their golden years (1940-1950 and after…). Even though we obviously only show small Lorax-related moments (hello, other story version safely tucked away in our files), I thought it was nice to reveal a little more about Coal (@chimneycoal-yuntzler) and Nathan's (@1940s-onceler) private life.

It was time to show a little Normaler!!! I love the idea of having a Norma in The Rust Factory. I love the idea of having a chubby Norma because she's so cute like that in the movie! It couldn't be any other way and I'm personally very much looking forward to seeing her again in the rp, if Nathan manages to reconnect with her. It'll give me a chance to draw Norma more often.

Originally, this scene in the TRF roleplay took place during their bath; but I wasn't going to draw two naked people… … not here. There are children.

Ahem.

Anyway. That explains why Nathan dives his head into the fountain one moment: he's supposed to immerse himself completely in his bath! I think that's a pretty funny annecdote. That, and the fact that even in his bath, Nathan Cole is still enjoying a big end-of-day cigar, having amassed a few thousand dollars in the process. Coal isn't the type to be jealous of the private life Nathan had before her; in fact, she has a permanent form of admiration for him. He represents the perfect American dream for her: a country boy who came from nothing and made his fortune through sheer will and hard work. And even if she sometimes needs to stop flattering his over-inflated ego, she knows she'll always be a solid shoulder for him to lean on and confide his doubts. Especially when he's being melodramatic, RIGHT? What a baby. I love him.

"Hello to you too…! Well, it's a bit ridiculous… It took several months for us to really get in touch and talk to each other. About half a year, I think? Shortly after my accident, when the company refused to pay my hospital bills, we met in the elevator. He thought I was an intruder and called security. It was the first time I really met my boss.

I hated him for months because he played the denial.

I won't lie: one Sunday he looked so pathetic eating alone in the factory refectory that I actually invited him to our Cap-lers activity. It surprised my friends at first to have the boss around, but they got used to it and so did I. He's been with me ever since, although it took me a while to figure out why.

The rest… You know the rest…!

Hello Coal! Is there any reason why you have a clockwork key when you're wearing your costume?

"It's a bit complicated to explain, and my contract doesn't allow me to explain the mechanism in detail (anti-industrial espionage clause), so I'll make a brief summary.

The key is part of the uniform and the firearm, in a single circuit. Thanks to a spring-steel winding system, the key turns at a faster or slower rate to unwind the metal cables, or on the contrary, to wind them up. Other settings let you choose the unwinding rate. The factory chimneys are absolutely gigantic. Several hundred feet high on the surface, several hundred more hidden in buildings and underground. The chimney sweeps have to use this rather brutal system to create their own hooks. Without the key, we can't be pulled up, and each key is adapted to our weight. By weight, I mean body weight and gear weight.

Without this key that pulls the solid cables, we can't do anything. Actually, I could talk for hours about this complex equipment that hides so many functions. Thanks to it, our hands are free."

[Skihawken RP] Swimming lessons!

I could not resist, I HAD to save it here because Quarante (@1940s-onceler , Nalak's Once-ler) is my love my life ; he can't swim so Coal teached him. One of my fave RP in Ski, with @nalak-bel ♥

[...] "Hey, ... Take it easy, come on. It's just water...!" She kisses his cheek, since floating allows her to reach Quarante's size. This is rare! She wants to enjoy it. "You just have to walk to the ledge." "... Alright... we walk to the ledge, and then you hold me. In case my hands slip." Hey, you never knew: his hands were wet, after all, and you couldn't completely trust pool ledges either. Quarante nestled his face in Coal's hair for a moment, took a deep breath to build up her courage again, then gently let go of her to reach the ledge. It was an easy task - after all, it was only walking - and he would soon find himself holding on to it, fingers clenched and tense. A deep breath in, followed by a deep breath out. Calm. He had to stay calm. [...]

[...] "I'm drowning, I'm drowning…!!"

It took Quarante a few seconds before he realized that Coal was there, that she had him, and that he might not die today after all. As for realizing that he was only in very shallow water, on the other hand, that wasn't it yet; his mind all foggy with panic, he was just trying to cling to the only support near him as if he were holding on for dear life.

Soon, Coal found herself clutched by both his arms and legs; he was all trembling, his heart was beating fast and small tears were appearing in the corners of his eyes now that he realized he was safe.

"I-I want the armbands…" he whimpered, his face nestled against his fiancée's neck.

Awww… Poor, poor Once-ler, Coal thought. Still, she couldn't help but find him cute, this tall man of almost six feet terrified of drowning in a space where the water normally reached his waist. Ah, well, Coal didn't know Quarante for his courage and heroism, and you know what? She loved him anyway, her little coward of a fiancé. [...]

[...] "Do you trust me...?", she asks as she would place her hand on his shoulders and bend down to float too, face to face, nose to nose. He nodded his head slightly with a willing look. "Hm! I'll trust you. I don't want to risk drowning stupidly over this." ...and then, because it didn't cost anything to try, the young man would then take advantage of this closeness to mime a kiss with his lips, an insistent look in his round eyes. Ah, Coal couldn't resist his face when he was doing the fish (or something like that) with his lips and his big round blue eyes. So, she decided that after his courageous swim under the surface, he deserved a little reward... ... but underwater! Coal came a little closer to put her hands on those two round cheeks, and lowered her head with his to hide half of their face. There, she gave him a tender little loving kiss. [...]

[...] "Think about your well-deserved pancakes instead... What do you say: we go back to the suite, get dressed, nice and warm... And we come back with balls of wool and knitting needles for you to continue teaching me to knit." The prospect of getting cozy and warm in front of a hearty snack doing a quiet activity was greatly pleasing to him. "I say the sooner we get out of here, the sooner we'll be settled in a nice warm seat. Come on! We don't have a second to lose." Needless to say: he liked it. Quarante took advantage of his fiancée's proximity to take her hands and kiss them, then moved towards the ladder to climb it. Pancakes, hot chocolates, comfy clothes, and a nice seat to settle into for knitting; so here was what the rest of the day would hold for the young couple. Quarante, still proud of himself and full of anticipation for this well-deserved rest, walked with a cheerful step; and soon enough, they both disappeared into the locker room in good humor and glee. END-
