The Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 along party lines on Thursday to restore net neutrality. The move fulfills a promise made by President Joe Biden in 2021 and effectively restores regulations put in place during the Obama administration.
“In our post-pandemic world, we know that broadband is a necessity, not a luxury,” FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel wrote.

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

Maybe this is the wrong platform to pose this question given the average tumblr user but
Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?
Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.
#is america even real#iirc millenials were the first ones hit with stranger danger#the short version is a generation or two ago is when the term serial killer got coined#and hitchiking was a legit means of travel#now the headlines are scare tactics about crime thats much much much lower than it ever was but perception is that its higher#helicopter parents and authoritarian school systems you get the idea#my mother once was pissed at the idea i was going to a sleepover at a house where the host's parents were ok with#underage supervised drinking under their roof and i legit dont remember how she found out#like if i was pressured into confessing or the mother mentioned it in casual conversation#but i remember barely being able to go and it was a dry af night#because my ass would be dead if i came home with alcohol on my breath or a hangover#i was a straight A honors student and when i finally did start drinking at a legal age#i barely got tipsy and went ''woaaaaaaaaahh'' and slowed the fuck down#like wow so out of control smh#i sat next to or knew a bunch of stoners in high school but didnt even think to ask them if i could have some weed until recently like#it wouldnt have even been hard to get then but i didnt do the math
