1x09 Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion
Hello fellow Bombshells, I apologize for the absence, my cousin’s wedding was this past weekend so I’ve been off celebrating and what not. But fear not cause I am back and what better episode to be back with than this very Cheryl-centric episode, yay!!
Thicker than blood, more precious than oil. Riverdale's big business, is maple syrup.
This episode focuses around the Blossom family business and inheritance now that Jason is gone. We finally get to explore Cheryl’s story in detail and I think this is when we begin to see why Cheryl is the way she is.
In our opening montage, we get a glimpse of Cheryl in this rather simple outfit involving her black crop ribbed leather jacket, a black choker, her red/burgundy spider brooch and a burgundy shift dress. Not much to say about this other than the whole Blossom family is wearing black and burgundy, Cheryl is part of the fam here.
Idk how they’re not wearing tights, I would literally be dying. Jeez. Anywaaaays, they are solemnly waiting for the arrival of the Blossom clan all in red prints. Cheryl is wearing her burgundy gloves from 1x07 when they went on the hunt for Polly. Her red spider brooch is prominently in place. I’m not 100% positive but her blazer appears to be a cropped bluish-gray item that matches her skirt well.
The underneath part as show at school! This is a simple red turtleneck and this skirt, hmmm. It is so similar to one she wore recently in episode 4x06. I noticed it as I was going through my screenshots for this episode, I find it fascinating however because 4x06 is the first appearance of Aunt Cricket and Uncle Bedford since this episode, 1x09! How fantastic is that subtle nod.
Wild.
On a final note about this outfit, this is the first appearance of Cheryl’s red flame heels and certainly not the last. I think in this episode they show her fierce loyalty to the Blossom name.
Oh, the exclusive maple tapping. This episode obviously tells us that Riverdale is presumably in the northernmost part of America as it has obvious Canadian ties throughout (and is filmed in Canada). But, it is very obvious in this episode. As for Cheryl’s maple tapping outfit, she has on large black stone earrings with crystal trim and her black spider brooch. A black turtleneck to keep warm since tights were apparently forbidden for her in this episode.
Ugh, her cloak. The hood and the flow, the little red riding hood vibes, I’m obsessed. Just as V looks amazing in her black cape, Cheryl was meant for this cloak. Under the turtleneck is this tight, rounded black dress with red trims. I love her red and black checked gloves. Her boots are black leather or possibly rain boots. Regardless, she looks adorable albeit a little cold.
Can we pause for a moment of appreciation for Penelope’s pants? They’re. dope. Also, weird family picture.
Mmm, the next night, Cheryl rolls up to Archie’s house, gift in hand. A nice ass guitar. Cheryl’s family definitely seems the type to show gratitude with lavish gifts, even when it feels unwarranted, much the way the Lodges do as well. But, as for the outfit, I like it. I love the detail on the shoulder of her black sweater. Her earrings are tiny black ear jackets and her simple black choker adorns her neck, weirdly loosely. The silver bracelet ties in nicely to her crystal shoulder detail.
Cute simple red skirt. And a weird cheek kiss. The vibes of this episode were all kinds of off although I appreciate the color vibe through Cheryl’s lipstick, skirt, and bow on the guitar case. She’s quite literally brought the Blossom presence into the Andrews home.
Blink and you might miss it. This scene was very brief but had big consequences leading to the end of Valerie and Archie to make room for Varchie. But, oh man. THAT SKIRT. One of my top Cheryl items, I love that skirt and it is paired later with one of my favorite outfits ever (hint: see my profile picture.) I always found it funny how this outfit is the exact opposite coloring of the one from the night before, a clear switch in attitude from sickly sweet to conniving. It’s more or less the same silhouette, even with a detailed shoulder, but turned on its head color wise. Fascinating. Her black spider brooch makes an appearance as well as this amazing embellished lace up choker that we will see in more detail in future episodes.
The Blossom Banquet. Oh man, Cheryl in an emerald green dress. I have words. First of all, Cheryl is wearing heavy red throughout the episode until this moment. Then nothing. There is heavy symbolism here in that Cheryl knows her parent’s motives are not pure and she feels uneasy under the Blossom name. Her stark contrast to her parents in this scene is illuminating but subtle. As for the dress, I think it is beautiful and refreshing to see her in another color!
Her hair is heavily pulled to one side with a crystal bobby pin, her bracelets and choker are sparkling in the snow and all pull together for an amazing wintery formal look. Her are earrings are fairly simple and don’t take away from her hair and choker. I love the cut of the dress as well and the slit that I will highlight in a moment. I’d like to come back to this dress in my analysis of 1x11 as well.
The lace up back is STUNNING and this entire screencap is just hauntingly gorgeous, holy shit.
Okay, I spent a long ass time attempting to screencap her shoes and slit. I believe the shoes are black with some sort of wrapped ankle strap, it’s hard to tell but I love it all together regardless.

And we end the episode in a place we are all too familiar, Cheryl in her bedroom in this black floral velvet robe. This time, she is not having an emotional girl talk with V but rather emotionally scribbling out Archie and Polly from the aforementioned weird family photo. Note, her makeup looks so cute here.
Yikes. Love her nails though and use of a red sharpie, lol.
I believe she might have on a black silk cami and shorts set because of the way she is sitting. Red spider brooch and black choker, check. Black fluffy heeled sandals, also check. Still love this vibe.
Hi, I’m emotional but fine. Mood.

1x08 Chapter Eight: The Outsiders
Happy Sunday! I’m back with another episode and more Cheryl. In today’s episode, 1x08, Cheryl primarily plays the role of a background character, but never fear, she still has some gorgeous outfits.
We first see our lovely bombshell in this flash back scene relating around Polly and Jason’s relationship. She is in the background in an adorable outfit, albeit one that’s a little different for her. The only time we see Cheryl in a baseball tee is at Vixen’s practice but this one says ‘bitchy’ with a cherry on it so it’s literally the most Cheryl shirt ever. She appears to be wearing shorts with it but it’s super hard to tell. She has on earrings, a plain black choker, and this AMAZING red heart purse that I’m obsessed with. I need to see her with that purse all. the. time. Thank you. On a symbolic note, this is a clear visual representation of her when Jason was still around, focused on being the queen bee, gossiping, and scheming.
The next time we see Cheryl is at school with the gang, again just kind of in the background which sadly only gives us this one shot of her full outfit which I really like. It’s a classic school Cheryl look but slightly more toned down as this scene is not about her directly or anything. She’s muted and just listening.
This is the only view of the front of the outfit, sadly. She has on crystal bow stud earrings which is a motif that ties her to B & V, fitting as they are all together talking in this scene. She wears the simple black choker again and her glossy cherry brooch. Her short sleeve sweater is gorgeous and subtle, navy with a red grid print. I just love it. She’s paired it with a red skirt, fairly sheer tights, and heeled black knee high boots. These are definitely different from her thigh high boots and very cute and wintery. She also has a gold bracelet on.
Now, this outfit. Her baby shower outfit. This is not the Cheryl we are used to seeing, she’s not standing out or even wearing her signature red. She only has red in the forms of burgundy which is a very clear contrast to her mother who’s in bright red. Cheryl appears to be attempting to conform to the Cooper clan and look the part of supportive cousin (or something).
Here is a closeup shot of her gorgeous statement choker, it has gold tones to it and is absolutely amazing. I wish she wore this again. You can’t see them in this picture but she is wearing the crystal bow earrings from school again, continuing to connect her to Betty & Polly.
Her black lace trim camisole is paired with a light pink satin-y slit flare circle skirt that is a midi length. This is so not Cheryl but she makes it work amazingly well. I love the slit in the middle, that makes it feel much more her. Her belt is skinny and burgundy with a bow.
Here you can see how the slit works with a presumably short skirt part under, so cute!
A look at her gold purse with a coin purse type clasp and her thin gold bracelet.
And those shoes. (Bless @riverdalefashion for this close up.) They literally could not have picked more perfect shoes for this outfit. The perfect light pink, the burgundy, the bow, the t-strap. (*chefs kiss*) A lovely final touch to this weird but gorgeous, Cooper family approved outfit. Note there is no spider or cherry brooch addition either, the Blossom motifs.
Such a cutie. 10/10 makeup here as well.

1x07 Chapter Seven: In a Lonely Place
Welcome back mes cheris! Sorry for the long absence but here we go! Cheryl was not present for 1x06 so we are jumping to 1x07.
What makes a place feel like home? Is it warmth and familiarity? Some idealized, make-believe TV version of the American Dream? Is it love and acceptance? Or is it simple safety?

Our first look at Cheryl in the episode is in this cute black and burgundy outfit! It’s a perfect outfit for a trade of secrets so Cheryl can reclaim her rightful place as HBIC of the River Vixens. Two grown ass adults agree to this and Cheryl tells them that Polly escaped SOQM the night before.
This is her second appearance in this burgundy high neck twist long sleeve crop top, this time paired with a black scallop lined skirt (very Veronica, hmm). She accessorizes with her black rose stud earrings, a new gold cherry brooch, her black crossbody/backpack, black tights, a black/gold belt, a gold bracelet, and what appears to be black ankle boots.
Here is a better look at the skirt thanks to @riverdalefashion!! It’s very cute but again very Veronica. You can also see her bracelet in more detail here.
We will see her belt again in more detail later. I actually really like this outfit and wish we got to see a better full view of it. Also note how her and Penelope are matching, alluding to their agreement in this scene.
Penelope and Cheryl remain in sync as the hunt for Polly ensues. Now this is a new type of outfit for Cheryl, one that highlights her wealthy roots. It’s a very rich girl equestrian look, very interesting. But still burgundy and black. Polly connects Cheryl back to Jason so she remains in really dark outfits this episode.
More closeups and details of the outfit. Her gray blazer has adorable matching burgundy elbow patches and her shirt is a burgundy ribbed turtleneck. She has matching burgundy gloves, black skinny jeans or possibly ponte pants as they look stretchy. She is also wearing grey knee high socks and black knee high rain boots.
Return of the red spider brooch! And some black and gold ear jackets. I love love her lipstick color here btw. Matches so well. This episode puts Cheryl squarely in sync with her family as they all tend to match a lot. This definitely changes later but we can see their synchronicity here.
The next day at school wearing even less color than before. She is trying to convince Betty they are on the same side and she wants to help the baby. This baby is her last tie to Jason, note the mostly black outfit.
She has on the black rib leather jacket (no explanation needed), a black and white cherry print blouse which is so cute and perfect for this outfit. Her skirt is black with gold buttons diagonally on the side. She is also wearing black tights again, definitely fall or winter.
You can barely see it but I believe she is wearing black ankle boots again.
She is also wearing her black crossbody/backpack bag again.
For accessories, she’s added her black crystal ball earrings, her red spider brooch, and this new nude bow choker! Very cute and very dark which works for trying to convince your kind of friend to let you have her sister and her baby, lol.
Our last outfit, another dark and solemn vibe. Especially considering Penelope is plotting how to take the baby away from Polly. Creepy.
Her earrings appear to be large black stone earrings and she’s returned to a simple black choker. Her lipstick perfectly matches the flowers on her mesh top. I love this top, it’s so fun and jewel toned and works great in this scene.
Here is the full outfit, really the only good shot we see of it which is a bummer as it is gorgeous! She has on a black cami under the mesh top (very different from later Cheryl in mesh tops, hehe, Toni’s impact). This is the belt from the first outfit again, very harsh and metal, fitting for the episode. Her shorts are tight, high waisted and burgundy. Her shoes aren’t seen but I could definitely see black ankle boots with this again. I love the lighting and mood of this last picture and her outfit meshes well (ha, get it?). ;)

Favorite Outfit: It’s gotta be the floral mesh top, but I’m also partially inclined to the first black and burgundy get up.

1x05 Chapter Five: Heart of Darkness
Hello and welcome back! Hope you’re all ready to talk Cheryl and fashion cause I am! We’ve got a lot of outfits in this episode so grab some coffee and enjoy.
We start with this haunting scene where Cheryl looks rather creepy and our first candelabra appearance (do we need a count? lmao). Candles and fire are a definite Cheryl motif obviously relating to red and cheryl’s fierceness and strength.
Here’s a closer look, her makeup is very dark in this scene, which definitely tells us it is a dream. Her only accessory is her candelabra with this gorgeous red gown, somewhere in between a ball gown and a night gown (something we see Cheryl in often, this weird hybrid dress).
Here’s another look at the outfit from the costume designer- Rebekka’s instagram (@7sistersnorway), who is amazing! Cheryl is wearing her black fluffy heeled sandals that she’ll wear later in the episode.
And she wakes up! Into another pajama outfit. This one is mostly all black, an obvious connection to her dreaming about Jason and being in his room. It’s all black minus her giant red heart & cherry? brooch. I don’t love this one, it’s so big! But Cheryl is dramatic and it almost seems a symbol of a broken heart which is relevant. She’s also wearing black crystal stud earrings and a black choker.
This is the full outfit, it’s gorgeous and sexy and dramatic. Perfect Cheryl. She has on her black floral velvet robe that she wears throughout the show and a black nightgown maybe with lace trims. She also has on those black fluffy heeled sandals again. Those are like literally my dream ‘float around the house in silky robes’ shoes. Love.
No pajamas this time! But instead this GORGEOUS short sleeve black tight dress with a burgundy 3D flower collar. So yummy, so Cheryl. I’m obsessed with this dress. She’s paired it with a black belt that appears to have gold lining and a gold buckle. She also has a black crossbody which I believe is the backpack she wore in the pilot turned to the purse form. It’s definitely confirmed to be cold as she is wearing tights and adorable burgundy velvet ankle sock booties, super cute and the perfect shoe for this outfit.
Here are more close ups of the outfit and you can see how well all of the pieces work together. Her other accessories are pink bow earrings and a gold double layered bangle bracelet. The purse looks like it has a purple/burgundy lining on the strap which is really nice and ties in well. This is one of those episodes where Cheryl wears lots of black and dark tones. She is in mourning again as Jason’s funeral is coming up.
A closer look at her adorable earrings that scream Betty to me but alas, they’re very cute. Also you can see the amazing and gorgeous detail of that collar.
She only briefly wears this outfit but WOW. She looks so amazing! This dark green color is literally perfect on her and coincides with her other dark clothing of the episode. I love that when they put in her other colors it tends to be jewel tones to keep the theming going. It’s fantastic. The dress has lace at the top and a high neck. She has added a black belt and this circle brooch with gold and ruby. Her earrings appear to be black ball shaped ones similar in shape to ones she wore in 1x04.
I find this scene to be kind of funny. She seems to be wearing a low cut t-shirt dress in a black or dark green color. But, it just feels casual for an intense family dinner at the Blossom household. Nonetheless, it’s super cute and different for Cheryl! I like. She is wearing the same brooch she had on with the emerald green dress so we get a better look at it. Her earrings are black crystal studs.
I love the sleeves on the dress as you can see her, they’re so interesting. It’s hard to see but she has on a bracelet and her criss cross ring as well. Not much more to say other than she is continuing the dark toned theme.
And back to pajamas! Similar to the all black one but different and cute. She has on the same kimono but we can see more detail of it here. This time she has paired it with a silky deep red lace trimmed nightgown. So glam. She also has on the same black choker. I hope she doesn’t sleep in this choker cause that sounds uncomfortable af but to each their own.
She has on the black crystal ear jackets she’s worn before. I love that she has worn almost everything in this outfit before, nice realism! She is still wearing heavy black and dark colors but her red is getting a little bit brighter, maybe because she has someone like Veronica by her side.
She has on the fluffy heels again, yay! The perfect end to this perfect outfit.
This is what Cheryl was originally going to wear to Jason’s funeral, complete with the black fishnet veil/headband she wore in 1x02. I, um, don’t really know what’s going on with that dress but I’m kinda glad she didn’t wear it. Haha. Anyways, she has on black crystal stud earrings, a ring, and this nice black bracelet. And Veronica by her side being a lovely friend. No need to explain symbolism, it’s a funeral after all.
And yeah! What she actually wore to the funeral. I don’t need to remind you all the significance of this dress and it’s connection to Jason. This moment was iconic and very Cheryl. I feel like her biggest most iconic moments seem to be paired with all white outfits (aka burning down her house, we’ll get back to that later).
I love the addition of the white fishnet veil/headband that seems to be the same or very similar to the black one.
Here you can really see the detail of the fabric of the dress, so lovely. I love the innocence she portrays in this dress and the stark contrast from her evil mother in this picture.
The final outfit. She’s got her armor back on, aka her ribbed leather jacket. She also is wearing her red spider brooch and crystal ear jackets. I’m not 100% sure about her outfit but it possibly a dark red maxi dress, it’s really hard to tell.
Lastly, she has on her gold open choker that I associate as her armor as well. It’s perfect for this scene as she realizes she needs to protect herself from the rest of her family. She lost her person and is now alone.
Outfit Total: 9! (Including the white again as it is a different occasion).
Brooch Count: 1 large heart/cherry thing. 2 gold/ruby circle. 1 red spider. So 4 in total!
Favorite Outfit: Ahhhh I think it’s a tie between the 3D flower dress and the dark green lace dress.

1x04 Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show
Hello again! Before we get started, I wanted to give a shoutout to my lovely co-cheryl fashion bloggers: @cherylblossomstylerating and @theclosetofcherylblossom! I love that we have 3 different insights into Cheryl and I really enjoy their posts <3
Alright let’s dive in to episode four!! So this episode was fairly challenging to see details in as it is fairly dark for most parts of the episode. We barely even see Cheryl in a full outfit :(
During the opening scene, we only see Cheryl in the background so as far as I can tell she has on unknown earrings, a black choker, a black off the shoulder jumpsuit, a black bracelet, and a spider brooch (I believe the black one). No red!! Sheriff Keller is conducting interviews about Jason’s death so definitely connects to the lack of red. I wish we had gotten to see this outfit more, I love Cheryl in jumpsuits and this one is really nice.
Okaaay this outfit was really hard to figure out. Based on initial glances, I had kinda thought she was wearing the jumpsuit and added a jacket BUT that’s not the case. She is wearing a burgundy/red spider brooch and most likely the same black choker. I believe she is also wearing the pewter rose stud earrings she wore in 1x02.
She has a new jacket! This one is a burgundy leather moto/biker style jacket. I much prefer this one to the ribbed one and I wish she wore it more :( She has on a black top, unknown bottoms but presumably a skirt? It seems to finally be getting colder in Riverdale since everyone has on tights and jackets. She also has on patterned tights and possibly black ankle booties. She’s wearing a bracelet as well. Sorry this description is kinda vague but this scene was dark and she was mostly in the background. As for the outfit, I like the idea of it and she is only wearing red in the form of burgundy here. She tends to go dark when she is being extra scheme-y so it makes sense here.
True red!! For school the next day, Cheryl dons a classic Cheryl look which includes large crystal stud earrings, a red pussybow tank blouse, a navy double button mini skirt, a red quilted crossbody with chain strap, a gold bracelet, and a crystal ring.
Here’s a better look at the skirt and purse. We sadly never see her shoes but I could see her wearing her peep toe heels here or maybe a standard heel. This outfit is fairly preppy and consistent with Cheryl’s season 1 school style. She tends to wear more bright red at school and at events when she’s putting on her HBIC appearance in full fashion.
Here you can see the earrings and the ring better. The earrings are sort of ball shaped. I also love her hair up and sleek like this! It’s a good look and fits the outfit well. Very sassy just like she’s being in this scene. Her nails are also painted bright red which goes well.
Our last look! Sadly another dark, vague outfit. But, alas. Cheryl is wearing a cute burgundy long sleeve crop top with a twisted part at the bottom and a high neck. She wears this shirt a lot in season 1, in multiple colors as we’ll see later. I’m fond of it especially in the burgundy. She also has on her black ribbed leather jacket.
Here’s as much of the outfit as we see as she has a blanket on covering the rest but hey at least they’re being practical for a cold night at the Drive Ins! (Btw, I’m so sad it got closed down in the 4th episode, I would’ve loved to see a Grease-esque fun night at the drive ins and bughead dates, etc.) Anywaaaaays, I think this is an adorable outfit for a cozy movie night and she looks really cute.
In this picture, you can see her earrings which appear to be a crystal ear cuff style and she also has on her criss cross ring (lmao idk what it’s actually called). But, sadly these are all the outfits in this episode. It was filled with lots of black and burgundy which fits the moody Jughead vibe of this whole episode. Cheryl was fitting into a larger picture in this episode so she was dressed less to stand out and more to fit in than usual. But, that’s okay cause she looks good no matter what :)

Favorite Outfit: Hmm, either the black jumpsuit or the vague outfit with the burgundy leather jacket.

1x03 Chapter Three: Body Double
Quick note: I am trying to fix the horrible picture quality that Tumblr does to the photos so sorry they’re so fuzzy right now!
Cheryl explains her guilt in helping Jason fake his death and assists B & V in taking down the patriarchy!
We get one more look at Cheryl’s outfit from the last episode. I’ve decided the white flower clip was a very deliberate addition to Cheryl having white in her outfit when talking about Jason. It relates to her childhood and innocence although she is ironically admitting guilt here (or not so ironically, you decide).
We finally get a good look at the front of Cheryl’s white outfit as she tells the story of what really happened on July 4th. We finally can see the red belt and more detail of the dress. There’s not much more to say as we’ve seen this 3 times now so onto some new outfits!!
Okay a new cute red outfit. She’s wearing the same crystal ear jackets from the previous episode with a red lace romper, a gold open cuff bracelet, a gold open choker, a black skinny belt with a clear flower piece, and a criss cross crystal ring. She wears this choker a few times in the series, it’s really interesting!
The flower serves as a brooch like item and also adds a cute touch to her outfit. We don’t see her shoes in the episode though. This continues her theme of shorts like outfits so it must still be warm enough. This is the first episode where she wears majority red (less black than the others) as she begins to adjust to life without Jason (for now lol). I think the choker is a subtle nod to Cheryl’s closed off emotions, serving as another armor like piece. Is this a stretch? Maybe, but I like it.
Oh yup! Did B & V really think they could go scheming around school without Cheryl? Funny. She appears in this cute, femme fatale esque, school scheming outfit. She has on crystal stud earrings, a black bow choker with a little pearl (more on this in a minute), her ribbed black leather jacket, a red bodycon dress, a black belt with a bow, and over the knee suede black heeled boots.
Yes. Yes. Yes. This outfit screams “you can’t spy without me” and I love it. The choker is interesting because Cheryl wears it a few times but Veronica wears it as well. We typically associate pearls with Veronica but Cheryl dons them more than we think. This alludes to their relationship as queen bees, whether formerly or present. There is also a bow on her belt which is a symbol that Betty, Veronica, and Cheryl all wear maybe just a symbol tying them all together or maybe highlighting how they are all girly (and all have different styles) but are also strong, smart women who get shit done! Anyways, I’m a big fan of this outfit. I will admit, though, I don’t love that jacket and as we all know she wears it a lot in the show. I really just hate the ribbing lmao but she rocks it so whatever. It’s another piece that comes off as a piece of armor that she wears to protect herself and I think it remains this way throughout, I’ll touch on this again in later episodes.
Here she is coming to the realization that maybe she didn’t know her brother as well as she thought she did. I think she’s having a mini funeral service in her head in this scene. Another goodbye to a different part of Jason.
She has on some simple half hoop earrings and her black choker is wrapped around twice. She has on a long sleeve red top and a black grid print flare skirt. Her belt appears to be burgundy and she is wearing her red peep toe bow heels again. This outfit feels solemn but still powerful to me. I think it’s a nice outfit! I will say, I don’t like her makeup here but I think it is done on purpose as she has hardly any color on her face. It matches the mood of the scene.
This is a goodbye scene for her.

1x02 Chapter Two: A Touch of Evil
“I think many of us, maybe the entire town, had been hoping against hope that somehow Jason Blossom hadn't drowned on July 4th. That we'd come to school Monday morning, and there Jason would be. Or that we'd see him and Cheryl in a booth at Pop's. But that was before the undeniable, irrevocable fact of his bloated, water-logged body, a corpse with a bullet hole in its forehead, and terrible secrets that could only be revealed by the cold, steel blade of a coroner's autopsy scalpel, or the telltale beating of a guilty heart.”

Here’s that image of of Cheryl and Jason sitting at Pop’s that Jughead mentioned. Cheryl has donned her white dress again, further solidifying its place as a connection to Jason when he was alive.
The episode moves into this scene where Cheryl says she won’t rest until their is vengeance for Jason. She’s wearing black again which I think is important to note. I love this outfit and I love Cheryl in gingham. Her crop top has a little knot or twist at the bottom that’s not too revealing but looks cute paired with the high waisted black and white gingham shorts.
Here is our second brooch of the show! This is a red spider with gold legs, she wears this one frequently throughout the show. She also has on a black bow bangle and pewter rose stud earrings.
She changes into her vixen practice outfit after school (our first time seeing her in it) with full HBIC status on display. Her outfit is the standard one otherwise. In Season 1 especially, she always has some sort of detail, whether it be a dramatic vintage brooch or the more obvious lettering on her shirt, that highlights her queen bee status and need to feel superior.
We get one more glance at her cute gingham outfit when she goes to Betty’s house to question her about Polly.
Another cheerleading outfit! We’ve seen this before in Episode 1 but this time with the added white turtleneck shell as they are outside at night. This was an emotional scene for our girl but she manages to look cute and peppy anyways.
The perfect outfit to be arrested in! (Wtf was that scene anyways? Sheriff Keller arresting her for possibly being involved with Jason’s murder, o k Tom.) Anyways, this outfit is vaguely similar to her last school outfit also consisting of high waisted shorts. I don’t even know what season it’s supposed to be, but I suppose August or September so maybe it is warm enough to still wear shorts! Regardless, this outfit is nice. It consists of a red tank top with tied bow, black or navy high waisted shorts, a bangle, crystal-y silver ear jacket earrings, and her red peep toe bow heels (from the first scene on the show) although I only noted seeing them in a behind the scenes picture. Cheryl does consistently wear shorts throughout the show which definitely exudes confidence.
Here is a closer look at the earrings! Cheryl wears ear jacket type earrings often throughout the show, these are earrings where part of it is on the back side and peeks out under, they are very cute and fairly trendy now a days.
One last look at this outfit as Cheryl gets “arrested” but looks fabulous while doing so. You can also see a white flower pinned to her shorts.
Outfit Total: 5, including the white one again and 2 vixens outfits. So really only 3 new ones.
Brooch Count: 1 red spider. 1 white flower? (not sure if it really counts as a brooch.)
Favorite outfit: The black with gingham shorts! Still one of my faves from Season 1.

1x01 Chapter One: The Rivers Edge
Hello, welcome to the Cheryl Blossom Fashion Analysis where I will be analyzing every one of Cheryl’s iconic outfits from Riverdale! Blog idea credit goes to the wonderful @bettycooperoutfitwatch as well as added inspo from @veronicalodgestylecompendium! Now let’s dive in to the first episode!
Our first glimpse of Cheryl, ironically no red in site. This outfit is pure white, save for a few touches of red. I think that is an important way to start out the show for her, as the loss of her brother was a loss of innocence for Cheryl.
Here is one of the aforementioned touches of red, these peep toe bow heels (the other being a red skinny belt that is hard to notice in the first episode but seen better later).
The rest of the outfit includes the white fishnet gloves seen in the first picture, simple crystal stud earrings, a white rounded crop cardigan, a white knee length shirtdress, the heels, the belt, and a open cuff gold bangle. This was an important outfit in Season 1, one she will wear again and obviously it has close connections to her relationship with Jason.
Her 2nd outfit is very brief, consisting of crystal stud earrings and a colorful floral kimono. I find this kimono to be a bit out of character for her, especially as we see her later pajamas. But, that is how pilot episodes usually go. It’s still cute however.
Our first school look for Cheryl and a dramatic one at that! She continues to wear the same simple crystal stud earrings with a black fishnet veil fascinator that I looove. Her dress appears to be burgundy with black lace over it, very Cheryl. Mourning chic, perfect for school! (In Riverdale at least.)
Her shoes are some sort of strappy burgundy heels. I think this outfit is adorable and a very Cheryl approach to showing sadness over her brother’s death.
Onto her second school outfit. We have the crystal stud earrings again, a navy tie neck half sleeve top, a red skirt with pockets, a red, glassy cherry brooch, a skinny gold bangle, and a black hybrid purse backpack. I like her backpack which she uses in Season 1 before the red small backpack makes many appearances. Overall, I’m not a huge fan of this outfit. I like it in theory but I think it fits her weird and the skirt is long for her usual style. Again, pilot. This is the first time we see her wear a brooch and most definitely not the last. I do like this cute cherry one. Brooches are definitely a Cheryl motif (Alice as well) that connect her with her other motifs like cherries and spiders.
Cheryl in true HBIC form! Here we see her in the classic cheer top (not cropped as it is later) and matching skirt. She has a cute navy scrunchie in her hair, white socks, and white sneakers with blue poms. Not much to say about it other than it being a cute classic cheer look!
I wanted to include this true HBIC face and note that I loved her makeup here.
Only Cheryl would wear the most extravagant gown to homecoming. This red ball gown is lovely though paired with dangly gold diamond-ish shaped earrings, an open cuff bangle, and presumably heels though we don’t see them. We sense a recurring theme of Cheryl needing to be the best dressed or most lavishly dressed in the room. She uses her confidence and bitchiness as armor and this apparent through her style as well.
For post-homecoming shenanigans, Cheryl changes into this tight fitting bandage style dress that I like a lot more than the gown. She looks amazing and exudes confidence in this scene. I like this picture because she stands out as the only one in red which this episode does a good job of establishing as her color.
We can see a more straight view of the earrings that she did not change. I love her smirk here, it matches her outfit well.
As everyone stayed up all night, Cheryl is wearing the same dress as she watches her brother’s body be pulled out of the river. She added a black shawl or maybe cardigan to it though. I think it is important that she is now in red and black seeing Jason again since the last time he was alive she was in red and white. She is wearing her red armor and looks damn good doing it.
Outfit Total: 7, if you count the homecoming dresses separate as I do. 1 workout and 1 pajama outfit.
Brooch Count: 1 red cherry.
Favorite Outfit: The lace one she wears to the assembly, it’s so cute!
