Hi I’m Chemb0t.
I’m an artistically inclined engineer based in the California Bay Area. I currently work as a research engineer engaging in robotics, 3d modeling and printing, VR, computer vision and many other creative applications of technology to explore the future of making things. In my spare time, I dabble in artistic and technical side projects, touching all mediums, from paint and clay to servos and solenoids in an effort to find that elusive balance between Science and Art.

I made this sketch for an idea I had a long time ago exploring the idea of the famous myth that sharks "smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water" and become uncontrollably frenzy.
This scene depicts a distant event in the past history of my shark civilization.🦈✨

So it turns out that this system can interpret any 2d image sequence, not just live webcam feeds. I decided to test that by feeding it some animation reference clips. While it's not perfect, I'm quite impressed with how closely it tracks!

Trying out some workflows to convert a VRChat avatar to Vtuber/VRM format! It's a bit convoluted but not impossible. Almost all of my blendshapes transfer over, so all of that hard work is preserved. The best thing is there's a bunch of stuff you can do with the avatar once it's a VRM, such as driving it using the latest ML research based face tracking and pose estimation tools.
What you're seeing here is eye, face, hands AND full body tracking using a single standard webcam. That's right. No iPhone, no Leap Motion, no special hardware required! This is huge because it means that anyone can make super expressive avatars without having to pay for expensive hardware to drive them anymore!

Tribute to my late grandma who was born in the year of the dragon. It’s my first Chinese New Year without her and I miss her so much.
When my parents divorced and essentially abandoned me for their new families, it was my grandma and grandpa who made sure I still felt loved. Without their care and guidance I probably wouldn't be here today.
Thank you, Grandma, for everything and more.

And with that, we're done! Feels good! I think I got to try a lot of new things this time around. First row there was drawing on e-ink (Kindle Scribe), second row is on my phone (Z Fold 5), the bottom two rows are breaking in my new tablet (Tab S9 Ultra).
