“They worshipped Cassiopeia?” Everyone looks at Anna, confused.
“Yes. They must have regarded her as a deity. To the Shandarians, the stars were deities who protected them. Every important monument in the city was built according to the position of the mirror of the constellation Cassiopeia. The library, the gardens... Only the Tower remains.” said Anna.
“The Tower heh? It seems pretty simple to me to find big as it should be.” said John.
“Let me remind you that the other two were just as big and yet they were very deep underground...” said Stan.
“So, what's the plan now?” ask Jarod, smoking.
“I need more time to locate the Tower. The text we found at the library were quite unreadable. In addition, there’s symbols I've never seen before.” replied Anna.
“So, I guess it's free quarter until you find something then? Cool! It's going to be good to rest!” said Alex.
“Yes... A little rest will do everyone good... How much time do you need?
“Well, it will depend...2 days...3 days...i don’t know.” said Anna
“Take all the time you need, don’t push yourself.” Said Mitch.
Everyone went their separate ways into the hideout. Anna went back to her room to work, but the more time passed, the harder it was for her to concentrate, many things were on her mind. Good and bad. Memories especially. She put down her notebook and glanced at the pendant around her neck. If only Claire was there...No. It’s not the right moment to be emotive. She needs to stay strong. She has to...
“Stay strong Anna, stay strong. That’s what she would say.”
She then tries to concentrate again. But in vain. She definitively needs to take a break. She got up, stretched, and left the room to go to the terrace upstairs. A breath of fresh air will do her the best. She leans against the rails, looking at the sky. It was fully clear, stars shining brightly. As she enjoys the view, she heard footsteps. When she looks around, she saw Jarod, his cigarette on mouth, smoking.
“Oh...you scared me” she said chuckling.
“I know. Sorry, it's an old habit. A bad one, even.” responds Jarod.
“Don’t worry, it’s fine.” Anna replied as she looks at the sky again as he walks next to her. Jarod takes a blow and spill smoke.
“You can't concentrate, I guess.” he said calmly.
“How...” she starts.
“It can be seen on your face.”
“...Yes. It’s hard sometimes to stay focused on my work.”
“Don’t push yourself...And don’t rush things...it can’t be good for you.”
“Haha, I feel like I hear my dad sometimes. He's always the type to take his time. My mother is the complete opposite. I guess I got that from her.”
“Do your parents still live in your home country?”
“No... they live in another country. They...needed some new landscapes to look at. Hey...can I ask you something?” replied Anna, looking at him.
“Sure...go on.” said Jarod.
“Why...why did you save me at the National day?”
Jarod was silent for a few moments. That was a very good question... Why did you help him that day? They didn't know each other; they didn't have anything in common... He could have just left her alone. And yet something had driven him to come and help her.  And yet... He had protected him. Make sure she's safe... as he would have done for...
“You remind me of my daughter.” said Jarod after a few seconds of pure silence.
“You have a daughter?” said Anna.
“I had. She died when the peak fell in 1986. She was only 16 years old...”
“Oh...I'm...I'm sorry. What was her name?”
“Lola...She was passionate about dinosaurs. She wanted to be a palaeontologist, so she studied everything she could about dinosaurs... But her biology teacher, Bob Winters, recruited her into the Black Brigade... I tried to take her out of it... But it didn't work.”
“Your wife must have been devastated... I hope she was able to get over it...”
“She’s dead too. Pauline was sick. And nothing could cure her. She passed away when Lola was 6. Since then, I've raised her on my own. As best I could.”
“I... I see...”
“In a sense... I felt like I had a second chance. Even though it wasn't my daughter that I saved, I felt like I was seeing her again...  by seeing you. Your passion for history is as strong as her was for dinosaurs.”
Anna smiled as she looked up at the starry sky. But she felt sad for Jarod. He had everything to be happy... And he lost everything. She doesn't know what he did next, but all she sees is a man trying to make amends. It just goes to show that no one is condemned.... One can always be saved. One way or another. But the most incredible thing about it all... It's that with the loss of his wife and daughter... Jarod is still here. Didn't he try to end his life once? Certainly. But maybe someone stopped him from doing such a stupid thing? Who knows?
"I see. I wish I could have met her. I'm sure we could have learned from each other...” Anna said, looking up at the sky.
“Yes, me too. The two of you would have gotten along well.” said Jarod. “By the way...that pendant around your neck...”
“Oh! It’s a gift. And it’s quite precious for me. I’ll never part with it until my last breath on earth.”
“I see.”
The two of them looked at the sky again without saying a word. The stars shone with grace and beauty, like celestial diamonds. And among these stars, if one has any belief in this subject, may be the deceased. It's a bit silly, but it's a way of comforting yourself for a lot of people. To know that even if physically, those you love are no longer there... they are always present in one way or another.
And to know that they see us, that they observe us, that they take us in a certain way.... It's comforting. It can be anyone. A mother, a father, grandparents, friends...
“The sky is really beautiful tonight...” said Anna.
“Yes...it is.” replied Jarod.
Or it can be a child, a brother...
Or a sister.

Everything was silent at the hideout. Mitch was with Sonya, comforting her as best he could. And trying to recover from his emotions with a good hot chocolate. Jarod smoked peacefully outside, observing the starry sky. Fanny and John cared for Alex as the most precious of their treasure. Maybe a little too much for the taste of the young boy. Stan was on the small terrace at the top of the building, he was sitting on the floor, also observing the starry sky under his hood. Suddenly he heard footsteps coming to him. When he looks around, he saw Anna, a blanket around her, two cups of hot chocolate on each hand.
“Do you want some?” She asks holding one of the cups to him.
“...thanks.” He said smiling under his hood, taking the cup in his gloved hand. “How do you feel?”
“Like someone who almost became a human ice cream.” She replied chuckling. “And you?”
“Like someone who almost became a human pancake.” Stan said chuckling too making Anna laughing again. “...I feel bad for Sonya...and for everyone else...”
“It’s not your fault you know. And you save us. If you weren’t there...We will be no longer there.”
Stan looks at her while she looks at the starry sky. How beautiful she was under the night sky...her light blue eyes sparkling with stars, strands of her red hair delicately kissing her face, the rest being linked in that high ponytail of hers. She was truly amazing...a star herself.
“You know...i...i was wondered...” starts Stan.
“Hum?” said Anna looking at him.
“You and Merlina... How long have you been... rivals together?”
“Well...since always, to be honest. Merlina Yung is not the kind to like having competition you know. Then... When I started making a name for myself as an explorer... She didn't really enjoy it. Before... I was a journalist. I was writing articles about discoveries that were being made all over the world. I loved it. Seeing all these people talk about their historical finds... of those mystical places or objects that were hidden from the eyes of the world... It rekindled in me a passion that I had since I was a little girl. So, I stopped everything and started exploring the world on my own! and I discovered amazing things! in a short time... I was almost called equal to Merlina.”
“Wow...i wish I could have learned about this sooner...I'm sure you would have convinced me to become an explorer too.” replied Stan.
“Hahaha thank you...If you knew how wonderful it was to stumble upon ancient temples, hidden in the most dangerous tropical forests... or pirate treasures engulfed in the abyss of the oceans... and to discover all these stories hidden from the eyes of the world... But it is especially that of the Shandarians that has always fascinated me the most. I was only looking forward to one thing... to finally be able to come here to Petria and finally allow this country to discover its true history...” said Anna with stars in her eyes.
“You seem really passionate by it. It’s cute.”
Anna couldn't help but blush and look at him. She was lovely. So adorable that Stan had only one desire: to hug her and keep her against him forever. But it was too early. He couldn't afford it. Not now. Slowly but surely.
“And... You then? I would like to know more about... the dreams of little Stan Sanchez. Because I doubt that becoming a criminal was a childhood dream.” said Anna with a little laugh.
“Haha...no. Being a thief was from afar, seeing very far, my dream. In fact, Mitch and I wanted to be mechanics. Or cops. Which is quite ironic today.” said Stan.
“Cops? Really?”
“Yeah. It’s hard to believe huh? But It’s true. Mitch and I were dreaming about being both cops. It's funny to think about it knowing that we're on the other side of the fence now.”
“I find it cute.”
Anna rested her head against Stan's arm, making Stan blush even more. The two looked at the stars without saying a word more. The slightly cool wind caressing their bodies despite being covered by the blanket. But then Anna realized something. She took out her notebook and looked at the various inscriptions she had carefully noted. Her eyes widened in surprise when she realized the significance of her research.
“That’s it!” she said happy. Stan looks at her confused and surprised. She then talks again. “Look at this. This is the notes I take from the Shandarian’s Library.”
Stan glanced quickly. For him, it was a foreign language of which he knew no letter. He could hardly read a single word on the young woman's notebook.
“In each of their writings, the Shandarians worshipped what they called the Great Goddess. At first, I thought it was a translation error on my part. But in reality, this is not the case! The great goddess mentioned is a constellation!” said Anna.
“A constellation?” said Stan.
“Yes! That of Cassiopeia. She is always depicted in books as sitting, holding a feather or a mirror in her hand. She was a queen during her lifetime. Who was punished by the nymphs for claiming that her daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than them. The Shandarians worshipped this Queen!”
“That why they thought that their Queen was maybe the daughter of a goddess.”
“Exactly. Now look. The gardens were...here, under a mine in Iron Reef.” replied Anna.
“The library was under the Mount National.” Said Stan.
“The text I found in the library said that they’ll construct something near the stars, where sea and earth lean against each under the goddess blessing.”
“In other words, our next trip takes us to the coast. But which one?”
“I have no idea. I'll have to look a little more.”
On Merlina Yung's side, the leader of the Purple Lynx was getting annoyed. If every trap she set was foiled by this small group of junk, she would quickly become disillusioned. She must find the perfect trap to make Anna disappear as soon as possible. But for now, she had something else to sort out. Flores had tried to escape again, despite Tyrak's increased security. So, she was at the Iron Pit, walking nonchalantly and quietly towards Flores' cell, paying no attention to the other prisoners who were screaming at her.
She stopped in front of Flores' cell, which was bound hand and foot by chains. She had a few scratches, as a result of the "punishment" inflicted on her. When she heard Merlina's footsteps stop from her cell, Flores raised her head, coldly, with some pride.
“Well, I must admit that, for a woman of your age, you are tenacious. An astonishing quality, for a president stripped of her post.” said Merlina.
“As long as my country needs me, I will stand up, Yung.” said Flores.
“How cute. It’s...disgusting me. When will you realize that this country is no longer yours? Tyrak took over governance. As for you, you will rot here.”
“And you? When will you realize that you will not win against them? They are giving you a hard time, if I heard correctly.”
“Hmpf. Weatherlaw is just a small setback. A little plague that I will eradicate once and for all.”
“For a little setback, it gives you a lot of trouble. Yet she has nothing while you have everything you need to kill her. Like what, technology is not everything, Yung.” replied Flores with a grin.
Merlina frowned and without saying another word, she pulled out a gun and fired. The bullet hit the wall inches from Flores' head. The latter looked out of the corner of her eye at the hole in the wall, telling herself that if she had moved a few centimetres, the bullet would have ended up between her two eyes.
“I strongly advise you to hold your tongue, Lupe Flores. It would be a shame to be six feet underground, wouldn't it?” said Merlina.
“You’re twisted.” responds Flores.
“And you speak too much. If I were you, I would stop placing my futile hopes on a small group of fugitives.  But after all... You were too, weren't you? Keep in mind that if you go out of here one day, it will be in a coffin.”
Flores glared at Merlina Yung, who without flinching put her gun in her holster. The two women exuded a murderous aura towards each other. Like two lionesses ready to kill each other for a territory.
“You won't take it to heaven, you can be sure of that.” said Flores.
“That's good. I don't expect to go to heaven anyway. Goodbye Flores.” responds Merlina.
With these last words, Merlina departed, followed closely by her close guard. If someone tries anything on her, he or she will end up with a bullet on each part of the body. Might as well avoid tempting the devil in this case. The other prisoners looked at her as coldly as ever. And among them, Adam. Merlina stopped for a few seconds to observe him, before smirking at him and leaving. Adam gritted his teeth, praying that Sonya would make it out alive. If anything were to happen to her, he would never forgive himself.
“Increase security. Especially on Flores. And if she tries anything, don't skimp on punishment. Got it?” said Merlina.
“Yes Madam.” said the soldiers.
Henry, the former prime minister and Flores' friend, was in the cell next to Flores'. He wasn't in better condition than her, but he was still alive, that's the main thing. He pressed himself against the walls that separated his cell from Flores'.
“Lupe? Are you still alive?” he asks.
“Yeah...but for how long?” responds Flores.
“That woman is twisted. And in addition to Tyrak, if we managed to get out of here, it we will be a miracle.”
“Oh, but we will Henry. We will.”
“How?”
“Don’t worry about it. Stay focus on staying alive.”
“Heh, I’ll try my best.” replied Henry, chuckling. “I can't believe that our only salvation is a group composed mainly of criminals, a journalist, A kid, Campbell and a little explorer who gives Yung a hard time. It's not really the team of heroes that everyone expects. Especially since they are all wanted too.”
“Exactly, Henry. It is where you least expect it, in the most unlikely place, that you find the real heroes of a country. It’s not enough to have a good life and what it takes to allow a country to live in peace. You must have heart. Wealth and good health are worthless if we have no heart” said Flores looking at the ceiling of her cell.
“And sometimes, my dear Henry...yes sometimes...Those who are poorest are those who are most inclined to do anything to help. It is those who have known everything who are willing to donate every fiber of their body to help others.  But the most important thing Henry is...That it is not the holiest among us who are human. No Henry...”
It is those who have experienced the worst torment, see things beyond cruelty, survived to all the trials life gives them, but who found the strength to fight and give all the love they have...
who are the most human.

(Baldur’s Gate 3 is amazing. It's one of those many games that I don't want to finish just so I can play it indefinitely. Yes, I know, I can do it as many times as I want, like Hogwarts Legacy, but this feeling is always stronger. And then we don't feel the same intensity when we already finish the game a first time, don't you think? I hope you’ll like it like the other ones! Feel free to tell me what you think about it! Have a great weekend to you all!  See ya!)

The clock is ticking in his mind. He has to be fast if he wants to save them. But for that he must find them. And without knowledge of the place, it may be difficult. But that's not knowing Stan Sanchez. He will search every corner of this basement until he finds them. He must.  On Jarod and Alex's side, the water continued to rise. As Jarod searched for a way to escape, Alex began to lose hope.
“We're going to die... We're going to die...” said Alex, desperate.
“Don't say that. We're going to find a way out of there.” Responds Jarod.
“Look all around us! There is no exit! and the water continues to climb! We're not going to get away with it! We're going to end up drowning! I'll never see mom and John again...”
“Hey.” starts Jarod, putting his gloved hand on Alex’s shoulders. “Listen kid. Now is not the time to give up. We'll get through this. I know we're going to get through this. Trust me, ok? One way or another, I'd get you out of there. Even if I have to leave my skin there. Take it back, will you? We need you, kid.”
Alex looks at him sadly. He may be a 14-year-old genius, but he is still a child. He nodded, a small smile emerging on his face. Jarod nodded in response and patted Alex on the shoulder before looking around. The room doesn't really have any other way out than the door. But it is securely closed and seems very resistant to water pressure. We can say what we want, but when she wants to get rid of someone, Merlina Yung does not go by four paths. The door is therefore their only survival option. But the water rises, beginning to reach Alex's basin. He must act quickly, or find a solution to attract someone, without knowing that Stan had freed himself from his room.
On Mitch and Anna's side, the room they were locked in was getting colder and colder, slowly but surely. Anna warmed up as best she could, rubbing her arms forcefully. Smoke came out of his mouth, a sign of the coldness of the room. Mitch tried to break down the door, but nothing happened. Even his monstrous kicks didn't change anything, the door didn't move a bit.
“Daggnabit. This door is more resistant than I thought. But don't worry, I'll get us out of there.” Mitch said, smoke coming out of his hood.
“it's useless Mitch... Merlina reinforced this room so that we could not get out of it. You can only open it from the outside and still... With the ice that will form, the door will be completely frozen. We're going to end up frozen here. That's not really how I imagined my death.” said Anna sadly.
“Hey don’t say that. We're going to survive, okay? I'm sure Stan will come and get us out of there.”
“How can you be so sure? We don’t know what kind of trap he fell into. If it finds he drowned, was crushed, or burned... and it's the same for Jarod and Alex. We may be the last ones still alive...” replied Anna as tears starts to flow on her face.
“Hey. Look at me.” said Mitch putting his hands on Anna’s shoulders. “You know they say that twins... are mentally linked. That they always know when the other is not doing well and all this weird and wacky stuff. But believe me. Stan is still alive, I feel it. And I know he made it. He will come to save us. I am sure of that. So don't lose hope. Believe in him.”
Anna stood for a few seconds without reacting, before smiling and nodding. Mitch was right. Now was not the time to lose hope. The cold was getting heavier and heavier. Mitch then took Anna against him, so he could warm her up and prevent her from falling asleep. He couldn't help but feel anxious himself. But he hid it, so as not to make Anna lose hope for good.
“Hurry up Stan... I beg you. Please.” He whispers, his voice trembling a little.
At the same time in the corridors, Stan was running at high speed. Looking from right to left for the rooms where the others were locked up. He tried to pick up the slightest sound, the slightest voice that would allow him to direct it. He prayed internally that it would not already be too late. Suddenly a noise caught his attention. Someone was banging on a door. Then voices. Or at least one vote. Alex's.
“Hey!!!! Kid!!! continues to make noises!!” Said Stan rushing to the voice.
He ran as fast as he could, hearing Alex's voice more and more. He arrived at the door where he was able to see him with Jarod. The water was still rising dangerously so that Alex no longer touched the ground, gripping to Jarod to stay his head above water. In the bottom you could see a box floating and on it, the bag of the young boy.
“Move! I'm going to blow up the window of the door!” said Stan aiming his shot gun.
“I've already tried! The glass is doubled! and the door is too solid! You must get us out of there differently!” responds Jarod.
“You're funny! How do I do it?? It's not like I really have time to think!”
“S... Stan! I... I notice that some doors had a control panel to open them! Look for...look for the one connected to that door! Quick!”
“Okay! Okay! A control panel...a control panel...Ah! I found it!”
He placed himself in front of the control panel of the door. Jarod and Alex began to lose their footing little bit, despite Jarod's efforts to keep Alex's head above water. Stan tried to press all the buttons, but none worked. You had to enter a very specific code to unlock the door. time was fleeing at high speed, and Jarod, now completely immersed in the water, banged on the door, a sign to Stan that he was running out of time. Alex lost consciousness. So, in a desperate act and when he no longer heard Jarod's blows, Stan in a scream of rage fired his shotgun at the control panel which exploded... and unlocked the door. He then opened the latter, allowing the water to spread in the corridors of the basement. Alex and Jarod were driven and found themselves on the ground.  They regained consciousness while panting, spitting out the water that had begun to enter their bodies.
“Hey! Are you alright??” asks Stan running and kneeling to them.
“You...You...You take your time...Damnit. We almost stayed there for good.” said Jarod coughing.
“Ok... If this is your way of thanking me... There's nothing to it. Kid? Are you okay?”
“I’m...i see my short and genius life parade before my eyes...it was...horrible. But...i’m fine...thank you Stan...” responds Alex coughing too.
“Can you get back up? we still have to find Anna and Mitch.”
Alex got up with Jarod's help and retrieved his bag from the crate. And as he hoped, nothing had been touched by the water. the trio set out to free Mitch and Anna, still trapped in their ice trap. Precisely on the side of Anna and Mitch. The cold was beginning to become unbearable. Anna felt her eyes close little by little. She just wanted to sleep a little bit.
“A-A-Anna! Don’t...Don’t close your eyes! Stay...Stay with me!” said Mitch, shaking because of the cold, warming her to keep her awake.
“But...I'm...tired...” responds Anna a little weak.
“N-n-no no no, don’t fall asleep! If you close your eyes, you’ll die, okay?? S-Stan will get us o-ou-out of here! But you have to stay with me and awake! P-Please, h-hold on!
“I... I’ll try.” replied Anna, leaning more against Mitch.
Mitch hugged her tighter to him, trying to warm her up as best he could. But even he felt the fatigue taking him. He had to resist. Otherwise, he knows that he will never wake up again. As he slowly began to close his eyes... a scream. A voice. And this voice, he could not forget it. Stan.
“MIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?? PLEASE ANSWER ME! MITCH!!!” Shout Stan in the corridors.
He knew it. He felt it. But he had trouble answering him. While all he has to do is yell for him to find them. But he felt weak because of the cold. And he felt that Anna was not going to stay for long. His brother is there... only a few meters away from him perhaps... and he may miss them because of Mitch's weakness. But Mitch didn't want to give up. Not so close to the goal. So, he clenched his fist and in a burst of adrenaline, he screamed at the top of his lungs.
“STAAAAAAAN!!!! STAAAAAN WE’RE HERE!!!!” Shouts Mitch.
“MITCH! HANG ON BROTHER I’M COMING!!!” Responds Stan.
Mitch heard several speeding steps towards them. And when he saw his brother behind the door, Mitch couldn't help but have tears in his eyes.
“Mitch! Daggnabit hang on!” said Stan. Through the door.
“Stan...” responds Mitch.
“Open the door! Hurry kid!” replied Stan to Alex.
“Give me a sec damnit! I need to hack the control panel!” Said Alex with his small computer in hand.
“Hang on Mitch! Don't close your eyes! I'm here!” Then he saw that Anna was almost asleep.  “Anna! Anna! Stay with us! Listen to me! Please!”
Anna opened her eyes slightly, looking at Stan. But the latter knows that she will not last much longer just like Mitch. He watched Alex tap on his little laptop as fast as he could.
“Come on kid, come on!” said Stan.
“I can’t open the door! All the system is frozen!” said Alex.
“WHAT ?!”
“What if you try to warm up the room?” said Jarod.
“Of course! Just give me a sec!” replied Alex, hacking the air conditioning system of the room.  “Okay! Time to reverse the temperature!”
As he pressed a button, they could hear a strange noise above them. Mitch and Anna then felt that the temperature gradually rose. Stan saw water slowly flowing at his feet and tried to open the door. He finally managed to open it after a dozen attempts. Stan ran up to Mitch and Anna and took them both in his arms, hugging them tightly.
“Daggnabit...you’re so cold!” He said worried.
“Yes... For once... I wouldn't say no to a good cup of hot chocolate... I know what it's like now to be meat in a freezer.” Said Mitch shaking a little.
“Hehe... You haven't lost your sense of humour at least... Come on you two. We get out of here.”
“And... Adam?” asks Anna.
“...We didn't find him. Merlina used him as bait. We were trapped like fools. The kid will warn the others that we are coming back and what happened. We need to take care of both of you. You are completely frozen.”
Helped by Stan and the others, Mitch and Anna left the room. Alex managed to reach Sonya and the others, explaining what had happened. Although she was sad to know that Adam was still captive, Sonya was relieved to hear that he was fine and that the whole group was alive. The small group left the building as discreetly as they had entered and left in the direction of the hideout.
They could feel soothed... Because they have just escaped the kiss of Death.

The abandoned buildings of Petria were blessed bread for the Purple Lynx. No need to build or set up a meagre camp. They only need to rehabilitate the building to be able to settle there. And believe me that in just a few hours, it's over. You can't imagine how many members this group has. And you don't want to imagine it. Inside the building, in the basement of the building, was Adam, locked in what appeared to be a cell. Maybe a little too big for him... He was curled up in on himself, wondering what he was doing here. But above all... he was thinking of Sonya. His Sonya.
“Sonya...I hope you’re fine.” he said to himself.
Not far from the building, hidden behind the rocks, Stan, Mitch, Anna, Jarod and Alex discreetly observed the building. They absolutely had to find a way to get in without being detected. But how? They had guards all around the building.
“Well... They have planned a hell of a welcoming committee, tell me.” said Stan.
“Inevitably, it was too good for Melina to let us get Adam back without resistance. We must find a way in.” said Anna.
“What's next? We don't even know where they locked him up.” said Jarod.
“I have had the opportunity in the past to enter one of their buildings. I know they have basements. If they locked Adam up somewhere, it's bound to be in the basement. That's where we must go.”
“Isn't there a way to access it directly from the outside?” asks Mitch.
“Unfortunately, no.” replied Anna sighing.
“Let me do it. Give me a few minutes and I'll have the building plans in no time.” said Alex as he types on his small computer.
“You have a real gift for computers... I am sure you will be the one who revolutionizes the world one day.”
“Yeah, I know. One day, scientists will examinate my brain to find out How I was born with such a big and awesome brain.”
Anna laughs as she watches Alex get to work. He was going so fast, she had trouble understanding what he was doing. And after a little while, the map of the building was displayed on his screen.
“Ha ah! And that's the job! Too easy for a genius like me.” said Alex as everyone gathered around him.
The map of the building was quite large and had several floors. But what interested them most was the basement. And even the basements were big. Bigger than the building itself. Finding Adam will not be easy. But they must try their luck.
“Well...we still have to find a way in.” said Jarod.
“We will find one...there’s must be a way...” said Anna.
“I think I found one.” said Mitch pointing at two guards isolated from the rest.
The group discreetly walked towards the service entrance where the two guards were standing isolated. Without making any noise they knocked out the latter and hid them before entering the building. Alex took the opportunity to hack the cameras, thus deceiving the surveillance room. Once this was done, the group looked at the map again.
“We're here. We don't have direct access to the basement here. We will have to cross half of the building to access the stairs that will allow us to go down. We will have to be discreet. If a single soldier from Merlina sees us, we're screwed.” said Anna.
“Don't worry about the soldiers. Mitch and I make it our business. They won't even have time to blow the whistle.” said Stan.
“Yes, don't worry for that. Let us do it.” said Mitch.
“Alex are you sure your camera jamming system will last a long time?” replied Anna.
“As long as necessary! Don't worry about it, home girl, Alex is on the spot.” he said smiling.
“Let us hurry. The longer we stay here, the more likely we are to be spotted.” say Jarod.
The group moved discreetly towards the stairs leading to the basements. Meanwhile, in her office, Merlina was sipping a glass of wine, when she received a call.
*Madam, they have entered the building and are heading to the basement. * Said the soldier.
“Perfect. Let them advance to him... And once they're in the right place... The trap will close on them. I would be happy to see them die before my eyes. As soon as they are near the cage, let me know. I want to see their faces filled with despair myself.” said Merlina, playing with her glass of wine.
*Yes, madam. About Tyrak, what do we do? *
“Let him mind his own business. He has already given us all the necessary funds for our research. Focus on locating the latest Shandarian site. We must find it in order to be able to find the city itself. Got it?”
*Yes Madam. We get back to it right away. *
Merlina cut the transmission and sipped her glass, a sly smile on her face. Then she put down her glass and got up leaving the room to start heading to the basement. She was looking forward to what was to come. Back on Anna's side, the group had reached the basement. But there were even more guards than before. No way to pass without being spotted.
Two guards passed through a long corridor before hearing a strange noise. They moved slowly, their weapons loaded and ready to fire. Suddenly, they were lured and knocked out from behind before being hidden in a cupboard. Stan and Mitch wiped their gloved hands before motioning for the rest of the group to join them. They followed Alex's map and cautiously walked through the basement corridors. From time to time, Anna would glance to see if she saw Adam. But nothing. Jarod did the same to spot potential Yung soldiers.
“I don't like it.” said Jarod.
“Me neither. But we have to look on the bright side: If there is so much guard here, it is because Adam must not be very far away. We must move forward, and quickly if we want to have a chance of releasing him.”  said Stan.
The group suddenly heard a noise. Like a voice calling them. It was Adam. They went to the source and after a few minutes they finally arrived in the room where Adam was being held prisoner.
“Adam!” said Mitch.
“Mitch?! Stan?! What are you doing there?!” said Adam worried.
“We're coming to get you out of there! Why do you think we're here??” said Stan.
“No! You must leave here! It's a trap! Merlina...”
But he did not have time to finish his sentence when the door behind the group closed. Adam then pulled back screaming, while the group fell when the ground under their foot opened. Jarod protected Alex in their downfall while Mitch did the same with Anna. Each found himself isolated in a room. Stan was alone, Mitch and Anna were together in another, same for Jarod and Alex.
“Daggnabit! Mitch?? Anna?? Hey, is anyone here??” said Stan alone in his room.
“Anna are you okay?” Said Mitch.
“I am... Thanks Mitch” responds Anna.
“Nothing broken Kid?” asks Jarod.
“No... Thank you. We were separated from the band...” said Alex.
“I feel that way.”
Suddenly water began to seep into the rising room slowly but surely. In Anna and Mitch's play, the room was getting colder and colder. While in Stan's, the walls were getting closer. Suddenly they all heard a voice in the loudspeakers.
*Well,Well,Well. It looks like the little mice have decided to get into their holes. Too bad the cat trapped them just before. * Said Merlina.
“Merlina!” said Anna.
*Hello Anna. What a pleasure to see you again. Unfortunately, it will be for the last time. Too bad, I would have thought you would have resisted longer this time. And in addition, you drag other people with you into death. *
“We'll find a way out of here! You dirty witch!” shout Stan.
*Hahaha! but I hope for you! It would be a shame to end up crushing, frozen or drowned. But I fear that unfortunately, the journey will stop for you. Soon the city of Shandara will be mine and all its research and discoveries will be mine! *
Each member of the group looked towards the speakers, frowning and gritting their teeth. Merlina laughed at such a sight. For her, all this was a game. A game in which she would be the winner.
“What a monster...” said Mitch.
“Merlina...” said Anna.
*Unfortunately for you, you will never see my triumph for this discovery. But don't worry... The others will eventually join you... one way or another. Farewell. * Said Merlina before cutting off the micro.
Stan saw the walls getting closer and closer. He swore between his teeth, looking for a way out before he finished crushing. Suddenly he saw a door. She looked solid at first glance, but he had to try his luck. No time to hook it, he must explode it. He took out his Visa shotgun the hinges that held the door and fired. After 4 shots, and on the verge of ending up flattened like a pancake, Stan manages to blow the door and leave the room at the death’s door, now condemned by the walls close together. He sighed in relief, also trying to catch his breath. He narrowly escaped death. But for him it is not the first time. It can be said that he has always had a good star above him. Even two...
“Close call. Now I must save the others. Before it’s too late.” He said before starting to run.
He has no time to lose. The others are in danger. He must hurry to find them and get them out of there, before the kiss of death comes to take them away. But in a basement as big as this... Finding them is going to be complicated. But he must not give up. Not now. His brother's life is at stake. And Anna's too. As well as Alex and Jarod. He must act quickly. very quickly.
“Hang on everyone...I'm coming.” he said running as fast as he can.
Hang on yes...
Hang on...Mitch.

(A wonderful 4-day weekend awaits me! It will feel good to rest a little without having to finish super late at night. I'll be able to sleep a little earlier or play a little more. I already have some ideas emerging about my next fiction, but I'm putting them aside for now, so I can focus on this one. And then with the release of Baldur's Gate 3, I must admit that I want to play more right now. I hope you’ll like it like the other ones! Feel free to tell me what you think about it! Have a great weekend to you all!  See ya!)

Things don't always go as planned. And Merlina Yung, learned it well the hard way. But she always ended up having the last word. whatever the situation. However... she had to admit that Anna and her little gang were causing her much torment. Yet this makes her and Anna "fight" for historical discoveries. And they always end, much to Merlina's chagrin, at a perfect tie. But this time it will change. She does not intend to let this little explorer steal the show once again. She intends to have her moment of glory.... alone.
“Tsk... I am surrounded by incompetents. I'll have to find a solution to get rid of them... once and for all.” She said as she looks at recordings of drones flying over the convoy before and during the attack.
She noticed something that made her smile. A cold and calculating smile. An idea came from crossing his mind while observing the two brothers Sanchez and Alex. That's where she must hit. where it will break them the most. And if she manages to get Anna as a bonus... It will be a perfect success. It has to put all this in place. And convince this whole small group to come to her directly. Like taking candy from a baby... Because she perfectly has the ideal bait for that.
On Anna's side, the group had returned to the hideout. Everyone took care of their best. Stan, Mitch, John and Alex took care of John's truck, making the final modifications to make it more useful than before. We could already see some changes; windows were at the sides and rear doors of the truck. A hatch with ladder had also appeared on the ceiling. Seats were at the back, at the door separating the back and front of Mr. Grizzly. And a small space for the two brothers' motorcycle was now present. Stan was underneath the truck, working on the different parts of the engine.
“Mitch, can you pass me the pliers please?” he said, holding his hand out until he feels the pliers in his hand. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Said a woman which startled Stan, bumping slightly before sticking his head out.
He then saw that it was Anna, laughing slightly and looking at him with a small, friendly smile. He straightened up, clearing his throat, a little embarrassed by the situation.
“Oh Anna! I... sorry, I thought Mitch was still around.” He said, embarrassed.
“Don’t worry It’s nothing. I just hope I don’t scare you.” responds Anna laughing.
“Me? Getting scared? Of course not! I’m not the kind of guy who can be scared that easily you know!”
“Of course... Stan... I wanted to say thank you. To have saved us. If you hadn't been there...” replied Anna.
“Oh, it was nothing you know. I wasn't alone and then... it was out of the question for me to lose all three of you, especially Sonya.” said Stan.
“You know sometimes I feel like you're playing the role of the protective big brother.”
“Yeah, it’s...it’s true. I know Mitch and Sonya can defend themselves and... I can release the pressure a little but... It's stronger than me. I've always been there to protect them... It's... all that remains of my family. And I promised that I would do anything for them.”
“That’s adorable...”
Stan laughed slightly, looking to the side blushing. The two looked at each other for a few moments before clearing their throats each other while blushing. Luckily for them, Sonya wasn't there to tease them. Because believe me, she would not have shy away from doing so.
“And so... you... Have you been able to advance in your research?” Asks Stan.
“A little. the language of the Shandarians is quite complex. Even if I have everything i need to decode it.... It's not fun either. But I'll find something eventually.” responds Anna.
“I’m sure you will.”
“Hey! You should come and see that.” said suddenly Jarod at the garage door before leaving. Anna and Stan exchanged glances before heading to the living room where the rest of the team is. When they arrived, they found everyone in front of the television, listening to a speech by Tyrak... with Merlina by his side.
*I will now turn the floor over to our new Director of Operations, Ms. Merlina Yung, Chief of the Purple Lynx. * Said Tyrak on the screen.
*Thank you. As you already know, and as I am sure you have noticed over the last few days, my organization and I have moved to different parts of the country, restructuring and renovating old buildings into our various bases of operations. So, I want to thank your dear President for... its cooperation. Petria.... has returned to its former glory thanks to him. However... There are fugitives on the loose. Fugitives who... are starting to get a little too annoying for my taste. * Said Merlina before looking at the camera. *Hello, Anna. *
Everyone tenses, Anna frowning and clenching her fists as hard as she could. Merlina spoke again.
*I know you're watching me from your little hiding place with your little team. I must admit that on all our meetings, all our... Battles for discovery, this one is the one where you give me the most trouble. I almost admire your determination while compared to me, you have practically nothing except your ridiculous little notes and your little brain to help you. I sometimes wonder how you managed to never go wrong once... such intelligence.... It is surely family. *
Anna gritted her teeth and fists in the face of this pike from her rival. But for all that she managed to remain calm and reasonable, while Yung continued to speak.
*But don't hope that this time you will win. I intend to find the city of miracles of Shandara before you. whatever the cost. However... I decided to have a little heart. I know that for you, coming from me, it is impossible. Look at this instead. *
An image then appeared on the screen. There could then be Adam locked in a cell, alone but alive and healthy. Sonya felt tears come to her eyes, while Stan and Mitch gritted their teeth. The others frowned, worried to see what she planned to do with him.
“Adam...” said Sonya with tears.
*I'll give you a chance... to come and pick him up. You can find your little Adam here. I look forward to seeing how you do it. I grant you a period of 2 days. After this time... bye bye Adam. * Said Merlina.
“No!” replied Sonya with more tears.
*2 days. Not one more. You'd better hurry. And to decide quickly. * Said Merlina before the TV transmission cuts off.
Everyone was silent for a few moments. Only Sonya's crying echoed in the room. Mitch took his sister in his arms to comfort her. Stan clenched his fists, while Jarod tugged on his cigarette before spitting out the smoke.
“What do we do?” asks Fanny.
“We're going to look for him.” said Stan coldly before starting to walk out.
“This is a very bad idea.” said Jarod.
“Excuse me??? And what do you want us to do? that we stay there and wait kindly for him to be executed?? We have an opportunity to free my sister's boyfriend so I'm not going to sit back and sit here!”
“Think for two minutes why she would give us all the information to go get him? Imagine if we will fall into a beautiful ambush. I feel sorry for him, but we can't take any risks.”
“In this case I go alone, if you are too scared, which is surprising when we know that you wanted to kill my sister!”
“Stan!” said Mitch shaking his head slowly.
“You are both right. You can't just sit back and do nothing. If we can save him, then we must not miss this opportunity. But neither can we rush headlong into the mouth of the wolf. We must think of a plan. And let us decide who goes. No need for everyone to go.” said John calmly.
“Yes. We can't go there without knowing what awaits us. And if we all go... We all risk being captured. That's why we must think about what we're going to do.” said Anna.
Everyone nods. In the headquarters of the Purple Lynx, Merlina was sitting at her desk, a big smile on her face, proud of her little speech. Tyrak was more puzzled. He had a hard time understanding why she had given them an opportunity to get Adam back. So, what did she have in mind?
“Can I know what makes you smile like that? This is a completely ridiculous idea that you had. There is nothing to smile about.” said Tyrak grunting.
“Hahaha! oh my dear Tyrak, sometimes you must know how to have fun with your food, with your prey. Give them even a little hope.... to better break them afterwards. In a chess game like this, a move as silly as you say, can be decisive. And fatal, for the adversary. If Wheatherlaw and his small team have even an ounce of humanity, I guarantee you that they will come to save him without wasting a single second. And at that moment... at the very moment when they will put even one foot inside.... they will be condemned.” Said Merlina smirking.
“If you say so...”
“You'd better take care of your little prisoners... I heard that Flores tried to escape. It would be a shame if she managed to regain her place as president, don't you think?”
Tyrak growled, before leaving, slamming the door. Merlina smiled before looking at her computer from where she could observe everything. She saw Adam in his cell, curled up on himself, alone, isolated from everyone. She changed cameras to observe the iron pit where all the prisoners were located, including Flores. She had to recognize that this woman had teeth. She wondered how Tyrak was going to handle the situation... Then she focused again on her research.
“I can't wait to see what wonderful magic trick you will use to get you out of the mess that awaits you... Weatherlaw. You have no interest in disappointing me...”
She walked towards the large windows that gave the view of the landscape. A big smile was born on his face. A smile almost... crooked.
“Because this time... I intend to attend your funeral march... in person.”
She left her office and set off for her next destination. She was looking forward to witnessing this. And she didn't plan to miss a beat. If she must put her hands in the mud to get what she wants, then...She will.
And if she has to kill Anna with her own hands...
Then...So be it.

(Finally!!!! After a blocked back, weeks of exhausting work, and an internet that trolls me, I'm finally back! I was able to at least get ahead of Zelda and I've almost finished it. The plan is underway. There is not a minute to lose. If they fail to stop these trucks, Anna, Sonya and Fanny will be lost. They know what truck they are in; all they have to do is isolate it. The problem is that it is surrounded by others like a shield protecting a Roman soldier. But that's not going to stop the Sanchez brothers. Let alone Stan.
John sped up with his truck, Mr. Grizzly. He must pass in front of them to block them and force them to change their way. But that's easier said than done. However, it is not impossible. This is the practical side when you are in a desert. Apart from sand and a few pebbles, nothing can prevent you from going off the road. Shooting began from the side of Yung's soldiers. Bikers tried to destabilize Stan, but it was without counting on Mitch who, with his crowbar, made them fall with a sharp blow.
“I advise you not to approach if you value life! Stan! We must get close to these trucks!” said Mitch.
“I'm trying! But impossible to advance between bikers and shooting! If they break us a single tire, it's fucked up, we'll be out of the race! and unfortunately it is not John's truck that will be able to catch them!” responds Stan.
“What do we do??”
“...Hey!” Stan replied shouting at Jarod, John and Alex. “We must isolate the truck where the girls are being held from others! For that you will have to slow them down! Go ahead and then shoot them! But avoid hitting the target truck!”
“And then what will we do?? Even if we manage to isolate him and make him change direction, he will still try to escape us!" Said Alex.
“Don't worry about it! That will be my problem.”
“...OK! but be careful! Hang on both of you it's going to shake!” said John to Jarod and Alex, before going faster.
The truck went off the road to speed up on land to overtake the trucks. In the truck where they were being held, the three women witnessed everything, Anna continuing to hold her pocket mirror in the sunlight.
“But what do they do?? Why do they leave your brothers behind us??” asks Anna.
“And Why John goes off the road? It’s dangerous!” said Fanny.
“Don't worry about it. They know what they are doing. They will get us out of there. All we have to do is help them by making sure they don't lose sight of us.” said Sonya determined.
Anna and Fanny exchanged glances before nodding. Anna held the mirror in position while Fanny did the same, using her police officer's badge. Everything was set up for her to show them where they were. Sonya watched her brothers chasing them behind them. She saw their determination on in their eyes... at least she felt it.
“Be careful boys... I beg you.” Said Sonya, frowning, worried.
John's truck finally passes the convoy and returns to the road ahead. Jarod and Alex go down to the back and prepare to open the doors to shoot. Jarod looks at the young teenager who arms the nail gun.
“Stay well sheltered. and avoid approaching. They won't hesitate to kill you. They have no mercy.” said Jarod.
“Hey, I'm maybe 14, but I'm not a baby anymore. I am ready to do anything to save my mother.  But...thanks for your advice and your concern. Be careful you too.” said Alex.
“Hey! Can you hear me both??" Said John in the talkie.
*5 On 5 buddy! * Said Mitch.
“I managed to get past them! Let's start the assault! Get ready in the back!”
*Good! Listen to me carefully! The goal is to make them deviate from their trajectory and make them go on the 82! And to isolate the truck where they are from others! So as soon as you see a road going on the left, you do whatever it takes to block them and let them go in that direction! once caught up in it, it will be up to me and Stan to play! Got it?!*
“Got it! Jarod and Alex are in place! They will soon attack! As soon as they're on the 82, go for it!” replied John before talking in the cibi who was connected to the back of the truck. “OK! the plan is as follows; We must isolate the truck in the center of the others and force it to take Route 82 when we are there! If we get there, Stan and Mitch will take over and chase him! On our side, we must slow down the other trucks that are not necessary! Do not hit the target and avoid touching the bike of the brothers who is behind! If they ever puncture a tire or die, it's over! Got it?”
“Got it John!” said Alex.
“...Got it.” responds simply Jarod.
Jarod walks towards the back door of the truck, preparing to shoot. He glanced at Alex who nodded, indicating that he was ready. Jarod nodded in turn before opening the door with a sharp blow and starting to shoot, occasionally sheltering himself from the bullets. Yung's soldiers fired from both sides, finding themselves ambushed by the truck and the Sanchez brothers. While Jarod and Alex fired while protecting themselves, Stan and Mitch dodged bullets while trying to stay at a safe distance. Bikers who got a little too close quickly became acquainted with Mitch's crowbar, or otherwise known as "the beast".
“I warned you! Whooooa!" Said Mitch clinging to his seat, avoiding in the time a bullet. “That was close...”
“Are you okay Mitch??” said Stan.
“I am! That was a close call! Stay focus on the road don’t worry about me brother!”
“Take my shotgun if you must! It’s out of the question that we get annoyed longer by these guys!”
“Okay! Thanks!”
The bikers were eliminated one by one by Mitch. Meanwhile in front of the convoy, the shooting continued. Some trucks continued to drive at the same speed, but others began to slow down. The reason? Their tires were flat. And that's thanks to Alex and his gun nails. The way is starting to clear for our two brothers in the back. But unfortunately, not enough for them to intervene. They gradually arrived at the intersection that leads to the 82. That's where it's all going to come down. And they must act quickly. They must eliminate the trucks to isolate the one they are interested in.
“Okay we arrived at the 82! It's almost time for you to enter the scene. Get ready!” Said John before talking to the cibi. “Jarod! Alex! Hang on it may shake a little!”
Without further explanation, John made a rather risky manoeuvre, blocking the road with his truck. Yung's soldiers had no choice but to take the left road, and thus the 82. Of the entire convoy, only three trucks, including the one holding the girls prisoner, took this route. The others are stopped, their tires completely flat.
“Okay It's better than nothing! Get hooked up Mitch, let's go for it!” said Stan before going faster with the bike.
He rushed at full speed, dodging the bullets of Yung's soldiers. Mitch took his brother's shotgun and started shooting at the tires to incapacitate the last two trucks that were bothering them. He somehow managed to get into the sidecar with the shotgun in order to better aim at the tires. He managed to get one of the trucks to go backwards but had more difficulty with the other.
“Stan, you have to move a little to the side! I can't aim for the other truck!” said Mitch.
“Pass me the gun! I'll take care of it!” said Stan.
Mitch gave the shotgun to Stan, who grabbed it with one hand and drove with the other. He concentrated on aiming at the truck's tires and without warning, shot right in the mile. The truck disappeared behind them leaving only the target truck in the line of fire. The truck will soon arrive at the end of the road. They're going to be stuck. And there Stan will be able to let off steam. And he's not going to be asked.
“Okay. Now it's between you and me.” said Stan.
Stan aimed at the wheels of the truck and fired the first time, hitting one of the tires. The truck starts to slow down but still manages to keep the distance. Stan aims again at the other tire and pulls. Unfortunately, he misses his target.
“Daggnabit...Focus Stan...focus.” He said to himself.
He reloaded his gun with one hand and aimed at the tire again. This time... it touches. The truck slows down even more and ends up stopping right in front of the sign indicating that the road is closed. Stan and Mitch went down at the same time as the soldiers. But they didn't have time to react when Mitch kicked each of them with a crowbar. Stan reloaded his shotgun and aimed at the padlock blocking the back door of the truck.
“Girls, back off!!!” Said Stan.
He heard the girls moving in the truck and shot into the padlock blocking the door, breaking his last. He opened the door with a sharp stroke.
“You asked for a background robber?” He said to the girls.
“Stan !!!” said Sonya jumping on him, hugging him.
“It’s okay...I'm here...I’m here.” He replied hugging as tightly as he can.
“Oh, thank god you’re safe...” said Mitch, sighing in relief.
Stan helped Fanny and then Anna downstairs. He looked at her for a few moments without letting go of his hand. She is so thin compared to hers... It's cute.
“Are you okay?” he asks.
“Yes...thanks to you and Mitch. Thank you.” Anna responds.
“My...My pleasure.”
The two looked each other straight in the eye for a few seconds before looking away, laughing embarrassedly. John's truck arrived moments later, and Alex ran into his mother's arms, whom she hugged tightly. Then she kissed John while hugging him. Jarod put his hat back on, while lighting his cigarette and pulling on it. He looked at the two soldiers knocked out on the ground.
“What do we do with them?” he asks.
“We leave them there. That will get the message across. If they get away with it.” Said Stan.
“Stan is right. We'd better go back. I think we've all had our dose of adrenaline for today.” said Fanny.
Everyone acquired before getting back on their vehicle. Mitch let Anna get on the bike behind Stan while he got into the sidecar. The others got into the truck. And everyone left the scene to return to the hideout. As for the two soldiers knocked out on the ground. They can pray that others will join them quickly.
Because in Petria, as in any desert country...Vultures prowl.
Ready to feed on fresh flesh.

(Finally, the holidays! I will finally be able to take advantage of it to rest, play, write and go out more often with friends. I haven't finished Zelda Tears of the Kingdom yet and between us, just like Hogwarts Legacy, I don't want to finish it so quickly. So, I purposely extend my playing time on it by doing all the little side quests. On the other hand, korogus nuts... That's a no. I hope you’ll like it like the other ones! Feel free to tell me what you think about it! Have a great weekend to you all!  See ya!)

The doors were shaking more and more. In a few minutes, Merlina's soldiers will be there. And if they do not find a solution, Anna, Sonya and Fanny will be nothing more than human gruyere. They can't fight here; they might destroy the library. Suddenly an idea crossed Anna's mind. She remembered the strange little mechanism they had found in the garden. If there was one there... Maybe there's one here?
“I have an idea! There must be a mechanism that should help us get out of here!” said Anna.
“You mean the kind of teleporter you found in the gardens? Do you think there's one here?” asks Fanny.
“Yes. I think the Shandarians used them as a kind of transportation. They must have moved around the city like that.”
“Yeah well, we have interest in finding it and quick because they are close to breaking down the door there!  Let's hurry!” said Sonya, starting to look everywhere.
The three women ran all over the library, looking for the famous mechanism. On the other side of the door, Yung's soldiers continued to break down the door. Time is running out. After a while Sonya finally found the mechanism. So, she called Anna and Fanny. They joined her, and Anna activated the mechanism. Just like the first time, a blue light column rose into the air. Each in turn they entered, letting themselves be carried upwards. And they are lucky, at the same time, Merlina's soldiers entered the library. The three women arrived in front of Mont National, just below the peak. They looked at each other before sighing, relieved to have been able to escape the soldiers.
“Well...that was close.” said Anna.
“It was. They are the stubborn type, these soldiers. I would have liked to put some well-placed kicks on them. But hey I guess sooner or later we will have the opportunity.” said Sonya.
“If we can avoid it, it would suit me, believe me.”
*Mom! Can you hear me??* said Alex on the talkie.
“5 on 5 baby. We got out just in time, the soldiers had come in. We’re under the peak of the Mount National.” said Fanny.
*Phew. What a relief. How are you going to get back? Because I guess the car you stole stayed where you entered. * Asks John.
“We will find a solution. At worst, another car will be stolen.”
Suddenly clicks were heard in front of them. When they looked, they saw that they were surrounded by Yung's soldiers. The young women were stuck. They began to grow closer and tied Sonya and Anna's hands.
“Let us go!” Shout Sonya.
*Sonya?? What’s going on??* scream Stan in the talkie.
“STAN PLEASE HELP US! MERLINA’S SOLDIERS CAU...” said Anna before being knock down on the ground by one of them.
“Playtime is over.” said the soldiers in the talkie before turning it off. “Put them in the truck. The boss will be delighted to see them.
The soldiers loaded the three women into their trucks, closing the doors of the truck. On John's side, panic was beginning to take over. Jarod may have been the only one who remained calm, even as Mitch tried to reassure his twin as best, he could.
“Stan calm down. We're going to go save them! But you must stay calm!” he said as he sees his brother walking back and forth.
“That I stay calm?? Mitch, Anna and our little sister are in danger!! Who knows what Merlina Yung will do to them once they are in her hands! And you ask me to stay calm?! Are you kidding me?! I swear to God that if she touches any of their hair, I will slaughter this girl of …" said Mitch getting angrier.
“STAN!” Replied Mitch, getting Stan’s attention. “Nothing is going to happen to them, ok? We're going to get them out of there. They will take them to their lair, or at least to a safe place. We have a chance to intercept them on the road. But we need you. And for that, you must stay calm. Got it?”
“...Got it.” said Stan sighing. “Thanks bro.”
“How are we going to find them? They can go in any direction.” said Jarod, crossing his arms.
“Ha ah ha! That's where genius comes in! When I modified the talkies to restore them, I added some kind of microchips to trace their position! It's going to be easy to know where they're going.” said Alex.
“...you’re starting to scare me kid.” said Mitch.
Meanwhile, on the road, the truck that was holding Anna, Fanny and Sonya prisoner, was driving towards a small base of operations. Anna's eyelids trembled slightly, before she opened her eyes, still a little stunned by the blow she received earlier. She looked around, muttering, holding her head in one hand.
“Oh, my head...” She said, grunting.
“Anna...Thank God you’re okay.” said Fanny.
“Fanny? Where...where are we? And what happened?”
“In Yung's soldiers' truck. They captured us.” said Sonya simply.
“Damnit...We need to get out of here...” said Anna, still holding her head in one hand.
“We already tried. It's locked from outside. We can’t do anything right now. I just hope that...Stan and the others will save us before we reach our destination...”
“I hope so...” replied Anna tightening her necklace in her other hand.
She looked through the window of the truck, sad, lost, desperate. She prayed inwardly for someone to come and save them. Fanny and Sonya thought they knew what to expect if they fell into Merlina Yung's hands... but Anna knew it much better than they did. And it wasn't pretty to see. If in addition, Tyrak is also present, it will be even more unbearable.
Meanwhile, Stan, Mitch, Jarod, Alex and John were trying to catch up with them, thanks to Alex's small computer. They were far away, but they were getting closer little by little. Stan and Mitch were on their motorcycle, Stan driving of course. He was focused, stressed and angry. If anything happened to his sister or Anna, he would never forgive himself. but Yung will pay dearly. No one is looking for trouble with the Sanchez brothers. No one. And especially Stan.
“Hey!  We are getting closer to their position! Get ready! It may be sporty!” said John.
“Like we didn’t know that already.” said Stan coldly, tightening his grip on the handlebar of the bike.
“How are we going to stop them? They may drive faster if they ever see us!” asks Mitch.
“Simple. We aim the tires.” responds Jarod.
After a few minutes, they finally got closer to the truck. From where they were, they could see it, surrounded by other vehicles. impossible to know which Sonya, Fanny and Anna are in. They can't take the risk of destroying them all... They must find out which truck is holding them prisoner.
“Well... It was not planned in the program.” said Alex.
“Great...now what?” said Stan.
“We must be able to corner them! If we manage to get them to a closed road, we can attack them! Said John.
“Hey kid! Have you got a map or something??” asks Mitch.
“Why??” asks Alex.
“I think I know where we are! And it seems to me that there is a closed road not far away!”
Alex handed the map to Mitch, who grabbed it while trying not to fall off the motorcycle. He opened the map, examined it while observing the surroundings. Then he focused on the map again.
“OK! We're on Road 67! If we manage to get them to go on the 82, we can corner them! It has been a closed road for years because of wild animals hanging around.” said Mitch.
“Wait how did you managed to recognize the 67??” said Stan.
“Because we always took this road when Mom and Dad took us camping.”
Stan remained silent, observing the road. He recognized this road after a while. This is where they went when they went to the forest with their parents... It made him nostalgic... It was a good time. But it's over now. He then refocused on the situation. Mitch was right. If they can get them stuck there... Yung's soldiers don't stand a chance. But they must all be trapped, and not let a single truck escape. The group decided to try their luck, and accelerated to catch up with the convoy.
In one of the trucks, the girls sat in on themselves, completely desperate. When they suddenly heard noise outside, other than trucks, they raised their heads. Sonya focused on the sound, and a big smile was made on her face when she recognized the characteristic sound of her brothers' motorcycle. She then walked against the door and looked out the window to see Stan and Mitch's motorcycle, as well as John's truck.
“They're here! Girls, look!” shout Sonya.
Fanny and Anna joined Sonya and watched through the window of the truck. A smile appeared on their faces when they saw them rushing at them. they must prevent them. Let them know they are here. Anna then had an idea and took out her little pocket mirror. She positioned it so that the light reflected on it without blinding the boys.  Jarod saw the bright reflection coming from one of the trucks.
“Hey! Look! They are in that truck. The one where it has the luminous reflection. It is the one we must not lose sight of.” he said smoking his cigarette.
“OK! It's time to take action! I will try to block them from the front! We'll leave it to you two to save the girls!” said John to Stan and Mitch.
“Ok! You can count on us!” said Mitch.
Stan nodded and began to accelerate to attack. The mission is simple; prevent trucks from reaching their destination. As criminals, they had tried quite a few things. But playing the road hijacker was a first. No time to doubt. They must hurry. They will not get a second chance. If they miss their shot, they will never see them again. Stan was sure of it. And for him, that was out of the question. He will do everything to succeed. And when I say everything... I say absolutely everything.
If he must kill for his family and loved ones...
Then so be it.
