The Spawn and His Soul

The matter of vampire's and their souls is something I've seen discussed with no consensus around the internet. In BG3, its seems that Astarion may still have his, as Raphael is still very much interested in striking a deal with him. One particular explanation that spoke to me as I was researching this topic, is that a vampire's soul is trapped in their undead body. I decided to explore this concept with this piece. Astarion is holding his soul, battered and tethered to his undead body, when it should have left centuries ago. His soul is a reflection of who he was before he lost his life in the sun. Astarion, standing in a blood pool on the Fugue plane must make a choice. Will he trade his trade his soul, and whatever fragments of his former self, for power? Or does a single mortal life have intrinsic value? A quick note about this work: the character models are original assets from the game, that I have pieced back to together for fun. I will not be selling prints or making any money off of this. This is just a concept piece for fun, and to sate my Astarion brain rot.

Astarion Singing Somebody Else I’ve been productively obsessed and I’m only slightly ashamed of it. This is my first time doing mocap/3d animation anything (atleast in earnest). It took forever to get him looking nice, but the eyes are still a bit weird. So I rolled with it and made them glow *shrug*.
