several weeks ago i suddenly had the urge to draw someone helping izzy get dressed and proceeded to make an entire context for that someone to be ed. i'm imagining it to be post-s2 canon-divergent where izzy survives, and the wound makes him need assistance getting dressed. he wouldn't like to ask for help for basic things like this but if ed asks to do it he wouldn't say no, maybe.

i ended up having so much fun with roach's outfit and medical box though. the reference for the box is one from qing dynasty (i think) made of wood with red paint and gold line art that i saw at the national folk museum in peking; i changed the handle for a simple piece of curvy root and reorganised the drawers a bit. i've got this headcanon where roach learned a lot about cooking but also medicine from the red flag, and he's got a little belt bag with a calabash drawing. i also gave him an early stethoscope in his apron pocket; historically the stethoscope wouldn't be invented until 1816 but he already created peanut butter anyway.

@argents-huntress showed me a wonderful reunion scene they wrote between izzy and jack who survived the cannonball and i had to draw these gorgeous scars they gave him. they said jack looked like a sea creature in this and i'm no longer sane ever since.

this is probably a decade pre-canon or something like that, i guess. i just wanted to draw izzy with longer hair and that little area behind jack's neck that's not covered by his scarf (?). also, i have never understood jack's tattoos; i tried to draw chains here.
