Take a Break
Summary: As news breaks of an assassin targeting Senators in Coruscant, each Senator is assigned a Jedi for protection detail. Anakin Skywalker, a young Jedi knight has been taking his job protecting you very seriously. He grew on you, and finally let you convince him to take a break.
Warnings: flirty Anakin, then protective and serious Anakin, blood, guilt - gif not mine
Tumblr media
A meeting of the senators had just come to a close, the heavily armed room now leaving. Anakin Skywalker stood behind you the whole time, he didn’t make any commentary, not even a face as you argued endlessly with another senator. You couldn’t understand why anyone would want to prolong this war any longer. And you were mad.
You stood up quickly from your seat, your long evergreen colored dress swaying with your movements. The dress was nothing short of bothersome. It was exceptionally long, having a train, the sleeves fell so low around your hands, and the open back made a chill constantly run down your spine. You’re sure Anakin could sense how angry you were, and he learned in the past months of being with you to not ask. You’d come to him when you’re ready to explode, and he would sit down and listen to everything you had to say. He never disagreed, and often offered his own input.
“I cannot believe this is what we’ve come to!” You almost shouted while reentering your apartment. Chancellor Palpatine had each senator moved when these assassination attempts came to light. You left your small, homely apartment to get moved into a bigger one higher up. It had another room, as Anakin also stayed in this apartment to monitor you around the clock. It didn’t bother you, and he insisted it didn’t bother him. Of course, it was his job, but you’re sure the poor guy wanted alone time.
“I’m surprised you didn’t combust on the spot, Senator Y/L/N.” He joked lightly, though this was not the right time for it. You shot him a glare, which caused his smile to go into a smirk. He knew when he struck a nerve, he became very good at doing in these long months. “Alright, alright. I agree with you, you just need to get others to agree.”
“I cannot get others to agree when everyone’s head is so far up their own ass!” You shouted, forcefully ripping pins out of your hair, letting in fall down your back, finally providing  much needed warmth.
“Senator,” Anakin said.
“We’ve been over this. No senator talk when it’s just the two of us, please Anakin. I need one person to treat me normally.”
“Your wish is my command, Y/N.”
He was resting against the back of the couch, his arms crossed. His mechanical fingers moved with the utmost precision.
“Does it ever, hurt?” You asked lightly, not wanting to offend.
“My arm?” He questions, although he already knew that was what you were talking about. You nodded, staying silent.
“Sometimes, other times I barley notice I’m without a limb. Depends on how busy you keep me.” He spoke calmly, another signature smirk on his face. You pursed your lips at the comment, but then again, what else did you expect to hear from him?  His laugh rang out clear as day, his arms moving to grip the edges of the couch.
“You’re almost as infuriating as them.” You accused, trying to balance as you unlaced the summer styled wedges that adorned your tired feet.
“You wound me.”
“Good.”
“Maker, you look like a baby trying to take its first steps.”
You huffed, getting more irritated. You didn't want to bend over, not with him in front of you, and not with the low cut bodice dress you had on. So balancing on one foot while bringing the other up was the best solution in this current state. He knelt down in front of you, looking as if he was about to propose and confess his undying love for you. But his mouth stayed shut, lips still twisted into a light smirk. His mechanical arm reached out for your ankle, taking it softly, and resting your shoe clad foot on his thigh.
Your dress slid, exposing your entire leg and pretty high up on your thigh. Although it was a beautiful dress, the low cut front, exposed back, and high cut slit made you question if you were ever going to wear it again. A common dress back home, wasn’t so common on Coruscant.
You wanted to look away as he unlaced your shoes, if he looked up and saw the blush on your cheeks you knew it was over. He’d never let you live this down. But you couldn't tear your eyes away from him. Not as he gently placed your foot back down, reaching for the other.
“Do this often?” You asked, trying to split the tension with some humor.
“Would you be surprised to hear that you’re the first?” His breath tickled your leg, and you were sure he saw the goosebumps that it caused crawl across your skin.
“Yes, actually. I would.”
“Well I’m sorry darling,” He started, the name catching you off guard. “But with all my watching out for you, I haven’t much time to myself.” He dropped your foot back down to the ground, grabbing your shoes and stood back up.
“Trust me, Anakin. If I had my way you’d be out fighting on who knows what planet. Not here, wasting away day after day.”
“I don’t consider protecting you wasting away.”
“I know, which I’m extremely grateful for. But still, you’re a Jedi Knight, not a guard. They shouldn’t treat you as such. You should be off on the front lines somewhere, actually doing something for us.”
“I’ve been gone for a long time, it’s good to be back home. Plus I needed a break, I haven’t been able to relax since I was living on Tatooine.”
“Relax? I didn't even know you knew such a word.”
“Oh please, despite all you’ve heard about me I can relax.”
“Would you like to know how I relax?” You asked, not even caring if he didn't. He raised an eyebrow, waiting for you to continue. “I get out of this stuffy apartment.”
Anakin rolled his eyes, chuckling. “I’m afraid that is a non negotiable activity. We haven’t found who is behind these attacks, and until we do you are not going anywhere.”
“Well, I’ve heard there are some beautiful gardens the Jedi-”
“No. Absolutely not.”
“I’ve got you. What can happen?” You asked him. “Plus, only a Jedi can access these gardens I’ve heard about.”
“Those gardens are used for meditation. And I don’t believe Master Yoda or Master Windu would view kindly any sort of distraction.”
“Oh, so I’m a distraction?”
You couldn't imitate the look on his face if you tried, the eye roll and tight smirk.
“Take a break, Anakin. You’ve been at this for so long, nothing is going to happen in...” you thought for a minute. “20 minutes.”
“20 minutes?”
“In and out.” You say, getting excited he was considering it. “I just need something other than meetings, angry senators, and this stuffy apartment. So, I’m going somewhere tonight, with or without you.”
His eyes ran you up and down. Your dress perfectly hugged your figure, you were shorter than him, not by much. Your tan long legs made up for a lot of your height, although he never understood how you always managed to look so sun kissed. It’s not like you had much time to lounge around, especially not since the war started.
“In and out, and I mean it. I get one inkling of a feeling, and we’re done.”
“As you command, general.” You whispered, walking towards your room to change.
“Isn’t it me that is supposed to convince you to break the rules? This doesn’t seem like you, Senator.” The title rolled off his lips like honey, and your spine tingled.
“It does seem to be backwards.” You admitted, realizing that ever since you were appointed this position, you seemed to become a different person. “But where’s your sense of adventure, Skywalker?”
He watched you walk, you could feel his eyes boring into your back. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, but your ‘bodyguard’ was starting to feel a little bit more like a crush than he should.
Within a flash you slipped the dress from your shoulders and stepped out of it. It felt nice to put on a pair of pants, felt like such a mundane thing, but one you cherished. Although you would agree you had quite the knack for being a part of the senate, it wasn’t where you wanted to live forever. Traveling to all the planets, touching the stars. That’s what sounded like a life, not arguing with opposing sides.
You glanced at yourself before leaving the bedroom, you looked normal. Pants, a black jacket, pair of old working boots. You didn’t recognize the reflection staring back at you.
“Are you ready?” Anakin’s voice ripped you out of your headspace. You didn’t even hear the knock, but his knuckles where resting against your door.
“Yes.” You say with a smile, slipping past him in the doorframe and heading out of the apartment.
Little did you know, he did cherish spending all his time with you. He had learned a lot, seen a lot, met a lot of important people. But most importantly he gained a friend, someone who understood him, who listened to every feeling he had. Someone he had grown to admire, someone he had grown attached too. One of the first important rules of the Jedi, and he broke it. Broke it trying to do a job given to him by the Jedi. He spent long nights gazing out into the distance of Coruscant, telling himself, convincing himself that this wasn’t right. He was given a job, an order, and he was starting to let this job personally affect him. He never wanted to let you out of his sight, whether it be his job, or not.
But, little did Anakin Skywalker know, that you felt the same.
In the beginning it was a tad tedious in your mind to have a 24/7 bodyguard. The constant communication every second, the constant shadow following you to meetings. But over these looming months, he had been a constant. You knew he was there, and always would be. No matter the Chancellor, no matter the outer rim, it was just him and you.
As he escorted you to the gardens, it was hard to miss the lack of people around. Although yes, this was secluded, there was no one. No stray Jedi wandering about. It was silent, eerily so. By the look that homed in on Anakin’s face, you could guess he was feeling the same. His brows furrowed together, and his fists clenched tightly to his sides.
“Is everything alright?” You almost whispered it, as if you weren’t supposed to talk.
“Something about this isn't right.” He commented, eyes scanning the gardens. We hadn’t even entered them,  only standing in the doorway. The sight of green was overwhelming, it filled your heart with some hope.
“It looks like home.” You whispered, this time not because you were worried if anyone would overhear, but because emotions clouded all your senses. You ignored Anakin’s voice, not purposely, but you couldn’t help just staring at what’s in front of you.
“Y/N, we need to go.”
You turned your head toward him, but everything happened before you could even move a finger. He moved, rushing in front of you, reaching for the lightsaber hooked to his belt. A blaster fired, the hit meant for you. There was a wind as Anakin hit the ground. The assassin fled, but that was the last thing you had on your mind. The only thing you could wrap your head around was the man laying on the ground in front of you, a blaster shot through his chest.
You started to scream, you screamed for help, hoping someone would round that corner. Hoping someone needed a late night meditation session.
“Y/N,” Anakin said softly, face scrunching with pain. You looked at him, you didn’t know when you crouched down but you held a type grip on his hand.
“We have to get you up, we need to find someone.” You started saying, but your words were getting stuck in your throat. “Please, please Anakin. I have to get you up.”
“I’m sorry, Senator Y/L/N. But you need to go, that assassin could still be around. I will not take the risk of him finding you alone. You need to leave.”
“I am not leaving without you.”
This groans intensified, and a light layer of sweat started to appear at his forehead. You knew this wasn’t good, you knew he needed help, and he needed it now. His Jedi robes were burned through, but the smell of flesh was fresh enough to make your nose crinkle. You wiped his longer hair out of his eyes, and stood up. Legs shaking, and breathing heavy you went to reach for his arms.
“Y/N. You need to leave. Go. Now. That’s an order.”
“Last time I checked, General. You cannot order me around. We are getting you up and we are getting out of here.”
He groaned loudly again as you tried to pull him up, you got him to a sitting position, but he wasn’t budging any further than that.
You kneeled in front of him, exposing your back to whoever just had tried to kill you. But you didn’t care about that, the only possible thing you could think of was Anakin Skywalker.
“Anakin. Get up. NOW. We don’t have time, I need to get you up and get you help. I can drag you the whole way once you’re standing, but I need you to help me.” You pleaded, one of your hands resting against the back of his shoulder, helping keeping him propped up, the other rubbing soft circles on his cheek with your thumb. “If you do not get up,” you started to say. “I will be forced to stay here with you, assassin nearby or not. I will not leave you alone, and if you die, then i’ll die out here with you.”
Trying to convince a stubborn man to listen to you was not the easiest task. But the threat of staying here was enough to panic him into helping you get him to stand. By whatever power you possessed, you managed to get him standing. He screamed in pain, his jaw clamped down tight, and his nostrils flared.
“Y/N.” He whispered as you linked your arm around his back, throwing his left arm over your shoulder. “Y/N.” He said again, his tone more urgent.
“I’m not leaving you behind so I’d just drop that if I were you.” You snapped, focusing on starting to drag him out of the gardens.
“They’re back. I can feel them.”
“The assassin?” You asked, your heart beat starting to race as you already knew that was the answer.
Before he could answer you, a familiar voice came from Anakin’s wrist. The com link. How could you forget about that?
“Anakin, Anakin.” It was Obi-wan.
You grabbed his wrist, ready to quickly tell him where you guys were, and that you needed help, and fast.
“Obi-wan, we are at the gardens. Anakin is hurt badly, we need -“
“Say another word and I’ll kill you both.” It wasn’t an unfamiliar feeling, having a blaster pressed to your back. But it wasn’t one that you ever wanted to deal with again.
The assassin stood tall behind both you and Anakin. You let go of the com link, hearing Obi-wan’s panicked voice still coming in.
“Senator Y/L/N? Senator? Can you hear me?”
“Turn around slowly Senator, and drop the Jedi.”
Anakin’s spine snapped up straight. His eyes going cold, and his breathing even more intense than it previously was. Whatever pain he was feeling, the burning wound on his right peck was no longer existent in his mind.
“Run, Y/N.” He whispered, unhooking his arm from around your shoulders. Anakin turned, shoving both his hands in front of him as the assassin flew backwards. “GO.” As Anakin drew his lightsaber, stumbling slightly, you turned and ran towards the council room. Someone had to be there, Obi-wan had to be coming once he heard about Anakin.
Your body came to a screeching halt as the sounds of blaster fire rang from behind you. Anakin.
You turned back around, determined to do something. What, you didn’t know. You weren’t a Jedi, you didn’t have the force, a lightsaber, you didn’t even have a blaster on you. You were utterly defenseless. Yet, still you ran in his direction. You shouldn’t have left him, why did you leave him?
“Senator!” It was Obi-wan’s voice. You turned towards him, tears prickling in your eyes. He wasn’t alone, Mace Windu and Yoda trailed behind him. Lightsabers drawn except for Yoda. You couldn’t pull your body away from where Anakin was. Your feet were frozen, but your mind was running wild. Obi-wan and Windu ran past you.
“Senator Y/L/N, with me you must come.” You knew he could tell you weren’t psychically hurt, but mentally you were battling yourself. You wanted to go to him, needed to see him. “Taken care of, he will be. Protect you, we must.” You knew he was right, and as the blaster fire finally ceased, you turned towards Yoda.
“Master Yoda,” You started saying. He just nodded, and motioned for you to walk. Your feet stayed planted, all your weight leaning forward, still ready to run in the direction of Anakin. But it was eerily silent again, and you were struck with the overwhelming feeling that you could have lost him.
“Come, meet them in medical bay we shall.” You knew there was no point in arguing with him, he’s far too wise to argue with. You silently nodded, ripping your head from Anakin’s direction and walking with Yoda.
You sat in the same chair for hours. Although to you, it felt as though days have passed. Yoda sat you down and stayed with you for a while, which you assured him was unnecessary. The threat was eliminated, which means not only are you in any harm, but also that there would no longer be a need for Anakin being with you.
“Alone right now, I do not think you should be.”
“With all due respect Master Yoda, alone is all I want to be right now.”
“Fine he will be. Guilt, you have. Very troubling indeed, but not your fault, this was.”
“He’s been with me every day, every minute, for the past couple months. Knowing his reputation I thought he’d get bored and break the orders he was given. But he never did. This was my fault, I asked him to take me there. I wasn’t listening when he said there was a threat. I did this.”
“You did nothing, Senator.” Obi-Wan spoke, although you didn’t even notice when he walked in. “This is no one’s fault. He followed orders, he protected you, also allowing us to catch this assassin.”
You sighed, running your hands through your hair.
“Maybe you should get some rest, Senator.” Obi-wan suggested.
“I want to see him.” You said, ignoring his comment completely. You weren’t trying to be rude, and all three of you knew that. But you couldn’t erase the rush of terror that filled your body when the events of the night unfolded before you.
“One must be mindful of their feelings.” Yoda said, studying me.
“I’m no Jedi, Master Yoda. I respect you, I respect all the Jedi for what they do. Anakin and I were pushed together by the councils doing. And in these long months he became my friend. So I mean no offense when I say tonight, I don’t have to mindful of a damn thing. I want to see him, I need to see my friend.”
You’ve heard about Yoda’s extraordinary wisdom and ability to read people. So he could probably read right through you now. Something about the young General made your heart skip a beat, yes, he was your friend, one of your best friends. But he was something more, a bit of happiness, and he reminded you of home.
You could sense Obi-wan and Yoda gazing at each other, a silent conversation over what to do.
“I’ll take you to him.” Obi-wan finally spoke, offering a soft smile. You only nodded, no longer trusting your voice.
The walk was silent, but quick. You had been ushered to change earlier, Anakin’s blood on your other set of clothes. The blue dress was simple, but elegant. More acceptable to see a senator in versus pants. As you came to the door Obi-wan stopped in front of it.
“He’s a little out of it, but shouldn’t cause an issue.”
“This is Anakin Skywalker, when has he not caused an issue?” You quipped.
“Right as always, Senator Y/L/N.” Over the months Obi-wan had also become more present in your life. Of course, not as much as Anakin, but you noticed him around more. You tried to get him to just call you by your first name, no formalities, but it never worked. Obi-wan was a rule follower, a senator you’d always be to him. As Master Kenobi walked away, you stood in the doorway and stared at him. He was sitting up right, and not bandaged like you thought. The wound looked more healed, like it happened weeks ago. It was still an angry shade of red, but it looked … old.
“Force healing.” He said calmly. You looked up towards him, peeling your eyes away from his chest.
“Ani- I.” You started your apology to him.
“Don’t. I don’t need an apology, and I don’t want to hear one.”
“You could have died. You could have died because I pushed you to do something. I pushed you when all you wanted to do was keep me safe.”
“I did my job, and even if it wasn’t my job, I would still do the exact same thing. If you haven’t picked up on that already, I’m afraid you aren’t using your head Senator.”
“You’re never allowed to do that again. Do you hear me?”
He chuckled, his normal, sassy, Anakin chuckle.
“Come here, Y/N.”
You sat down on the bed, slightly facing him. You didn’t want to stare at his chest, but it was right in front of you. His skin tanned, and his muscles rippled around with each breath he took. But you also didn’t want to stare at the wound.
“Thank you.” You whispered, looking down to your fingers. “Thank you for saving my life.”
“There’s nothing to thank me for. I did it today, and I would do it all over again tomorrow. If that’s what it takes to know you’re protected. That’s the price I’d pay, because there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make sure you’re safe.”
“So stay with me. Don’t go, just live with me, be with me.” He was silent for a moment, taking in the words you effortlessly spoke.
“You know for a Senator you sure wear your feelings on your sleeve.”
“You know for a Jedi you have formed an attachment.” He laughed, a wince of pain flashed across his face but he barely let it show.
“Will you always fight me, Senator?”
“Until my last breath.” You confessed. He smiled, motioning you towards him.
“You sure you could keep this a secret?” He questioned, causing you to scoff.
“Yes.” You responded. “But only if you could keep this secret.” Before giving him the chance to respond, you turned his face towards yours and pressed your lips against his. They were softer than you’d think for a man who was just shot, and you smiled. You could feel him smile too, pulling back ever so slightly to gaze at your face.
“I don’t know if I can keep this secret, I must find a way to keep my mouth occupied so I won’t spill.”
“That was the worst thing I’ve ever heard.” You say, holding back a laugh.
“Kiss me, darling.”
This was Anakin Skywalker. The man, the myth, the legend. A name known in every corner of the galaxy. And you couldn’t be any happier to have his lips pressed against yours.

Sweet Taste of Poison
Summary: While guarding Padme after a long meeting of the senators, you drink poison meant for her. In these moments, you realize where your priorities lie. That is with Anakin Skywalker, your best friend and the love of your life.
Warnings: hallucinations, poison, mentions of death
A/N: so basically Padme and Anakin feel nothing for each other, just a platonic relationship:)) Maybe a little cheesy at the end? I’m just a sucker for a cheesy ending
Tumblr media
“This dreadful meeting is almost over, one more night and we can return home.” Obi-wan said, walking down the hallway of the mansion we’ve been at for days.
The senators were all sent to agree on a treaty, although they didn’t all agree. The older senators disagreed of course, thinking their time is much more valuable than this problem they’ve been wasting it on. The younger senators, Padme included, think this treaty can bring more people together. Obi-wan, Anakin, Ahsoka and you stood in the corners of the meeting room for the last four days. Instructed to make no noise, have no comments, just to stand watch, protect the valuable lives in this room.
The days only dragged on, over and over they go back and forth arguing the same topic. Then we’d get assigned to a senator, other Jedi would come in and we’d each guard a door for the night. Then, in the morning, we’d do it all over again. But luckily, things finally seem to be wrapping up, they only need one more person to agree, and then this horrible week will come to a close.
“Be careful,” You said looking as Anakin was talking to Ahsoka, “that’s what you said two days ago.”
“You’re right, don’t worry. You will be home soon, where you and Anakin can go about and almost get yourselves killed because you don’t listen.”
“I’m going to assume this is just your tired side speaking, Obi-wan.”
“Oh no, Y/N. I only speak the truth.” He had a smile when he said it, although you know he isn’t truly happy about that.
“I like to think of it as I go with him because someone has to. Someone has to look out for him, I’ve been doing it all my life. Since we were both padawans and we thought we were invincible.”
“And look at the price you both have paid for believing that.”
We both stood silent, neither one of us having anything to say to the other after that. You knew the prices Anakin paid for the choices he’s made, and you also knew the prices he’s paid for simply just doing what he was told. A metal hand, a long scar across his face, nightmares that plagued him. And better than anything, you knew the prices you’ve paid. Although all your limbs are still intact you also sported a scar across your face, stretching from the left side of your temple, to the right side of your chin. Obi-wan sighed, slouching a bit.
“That didn’t come out the way I wanted it to.”
“I understand how you meant it.” You said to him, and truly you did.
There was an angry growl that sounded down the hallway, and we both looked at Anakin, who was getting visibly frustrated with Ahsoka. The wrinkle in his forehead is deep, and even from down the hall I can tell his jaw is tightly clenching.
We made our way down the hallway, hearing the very familiar bickering between Anakin and his padawan.
“Ahsoka!” Obi-wan happily greeted as we walked towards them.
“Master Kenobi.” She responded. She was seething, you could tell by the way her jaw was clenched and the furrow of her brow. Obi-wan opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a padawan, who ran down the hallway.
“Something urgent has come up, Masters Yoda and Windu request the your presence!” She exclaimed, we all looked at each other, trying to figure out who was going and who would stay.
“Padme has a meeting to attend to tonight, so you three go. I’ll meet you guys later.”
“I’ll stay back-” Anakin started speaking, obviously looking for any reason to escape his padawan.
“Absolutely not. Y/N is more than capable to do a job she has been doing for the past week. Plus, let the ladies spend some time together.” Obi-wan said, smiling a bit at you. You tried not to smile, but your lip twitched ever so slightly, which Anakin surely saw.
“I’m a lady! Y/N, I can help you!” You sighed, knowing Ahsoka must accompany Anakin.
“I’m sorry Ahsoka, you must go with Anakin.”
“But-”
“Wherever he goes, you must follow.”
“Like that’s ever stopped you before.” She spoke, crossing her arms.
You remembered what is was like being in her shoes, having to do whatever you were told whenever they told you. Although, life is still very much following the orders of the council, being a young Padawan was like being on a very short leash. You could hear Anakin quietly lecture her about how she spoke, but you took nothing to heart.
The walk to Padme’s room was short, the hallways eerily silent. She opened up the door before you could get the second knock, smiling as she invited you in.
“I never understand why we cannot just agree on something within one day, but now we’ve been here for nearly a week. A week where we could have turned the tables in this war. Instead, we are inside fighting on how to stop a war that will soon be on our doorstep.”
The one thing you learned about Padme since she came to Coruscant was that she was determined. Whatever task she put her mind to would be done, one way or another. She never stopped fighting for what she thinks is right, even if she lost. This made her quick to become your friend. Her unwavering kindness, and friendly smile sucked you in. It was a breath of fresh air in this otherwise stuffy order.
“I’m sorry,” she started. “It must be boring to hear me complain about the after you just have to stand there everyday-”
“I don’t mind, Padme.” You tried to reassure her. “It’s better than listen to Anakin and Ahsoka bicker.” You said with a laugh. She also laughed at this, agreeing heavily with your statement. “They are more alike than I think they both realize. But she’s good for him, keeps him a little more... grounded per say.”
“They were guarding the door the other night, and I swear they never stopped talking out there.” Padme said with another laugh. “ I remember that’s how he and Obi-wan used to be.”
“Oh yeah,” you responded. “Tell me about it. “Anakin was never one to take orders, he did whatever he thought was right, even if at the time it wasn’t so. I think he’s finally realizing exactly how Obi-wan felt all this time.”
“But you guys would always save each other, you always followed him, as did Obi-wan.”
“Obi-wan and Anakin are like brothers.” You said. “Not only does Obi-wan have a commitment to Anakin, but Obi-wan cares for him. I think he used Anakin to fill the gap, to fill his time so he wouldn’t have to think about what happened to his master. Obi-wan dropped everything for Anakin, and together they are, they are truly magnificent. They are brothers, through and through.”
“You always followed after him too. I may be a busy Senator, Y/N, but I am not blind.”
“It’s a difficult situation. But yes, I will always follow him into whatever he needs.  I grew up with him, after my master died, I was almost taken in by them. I never knew how badly I needed someone to rely on before I knew Anakin.”
“And that is how you got the scar, following him?”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t mean anything by that.” That was the other thing about Padme, she was genuinely a good person. In this time, you don’t meet too many of those.
“I don’t mind, it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. I hated it when I first got it, of course the pain of it was horrible. But I saw it as a failure, it was a permanent mark of a loss I couldn’t hide. Everyone could see it, and everything would think I was weak. It was Anakin who told me otherwise. Of course now he has one to match. He told me to view it as a warning.”
“A warning?” She asked. Sitting down on the huge white comforted bed.
“A warning to anyone who tries to take me on again. I laughed the first time he said it, it sounded so stupid and childish, but I never shied away from the fact I had it ever again.”
“Sounds like he’s taught you a lot.” She said with a smirk. You stared at her, a shocked expression on your face.
“Now, Senator Amaidala, I have no idea what you are trying to insinuate!”
“Maybe it has something to do with how fond you two are of each other, or the fact that every time you walk into a room he turns red-”
A knock on the door stopped you both mid conversation. You looked at the time, late, but not too late where this would be a cause for concern. You opened the heavy wooden door to a droid, he held a platter containing two glasses of water.
“From Obi-wan.” It spoke, more robotic than you’ve ever heard a droid.
“Thank you.” You said, smiling to the droid as you closed the door. You set the platter down on one of the side tables, Padme walking over to you to grab a glass.
“That droid had good timing,” Padme said, as you sipped the water. “Stopped right when I was finally about to express how you two act when you see each other.”
But you weren’t focused on what she was saying, nor could you really hear her at all. There was that sense, the sense that told you something was wrong, very wrong. It had hit you almost immediately, the smell the water had, and the little bit of a green residue on the glass.
Poison.
You dropped the glass, causing it to shatter and water flew in a million droplets all over the carpeting. Although it felt like your bones weighed a thousand pounds each, you managed to smack the glass out of Padme’s hand.
“Y/N?” She sounded panicked, you didn’t realize you were on the ground until you saw her lean over you. It was as you were under water. Your sight was glossy, and moving as if looking at her under a wave. You couldn’t make out what she said to you, but in a flash she was gone. The only thing above you were the high ceilings, and the orange glows of the lamps lit in the room.
“How could you be so stupid? You should have sensed this, known this. Obi-wan wouldn’t send anything to the room, but you heard the name and didn’t even question where it came from. You had let your guard down, you were comfortable with your friend, and that was never something you should have done while guarding her life. You were smarter than this, smart enough to not let friendships get in the way of your job. But apparently, you weren’t.
In could have been two seconds, or two hours. Your brain couldn’t tell, but soon you could make out the sound of footsteps. Four people stood in front of you, all yelling and moving around. You recognized Padme’s worried voice, the voice of Anakin shouting some orders at Ahsoka, the voice of Obi-wan.
You had always wondered how Obi-wan did it. In the worst, the most stressful situations, he was the most calm. But there was nothing calm about his features  now. Even with the distorted vision you had, you could see how worried he was. Your body was lifted up from the ground, the mechanical arm wiring soft noises next to your ear. Which could only mean one thing. Anakin. Your vision was almost all black, but you could make out his messy hair, and the gloss that nw settled over his eyes. Where had everyone else gone? What was going on?
-
In that very moment, that very millisecond of time, everything stopped. There was no laughter, no light, no breathing, no air.  No more meetings, no more death, no more maps, no more holonet communications. No more fighter planes, no more cruisers, no more stars. There was only you and him, that’s all there ever was, all there ever will be. There were only his salty tears, but no sound to his voice. His Adams apple bobbed up and down as his mouth opened and closed. Maybe screaming, maybe screaming for someone, something, anything. Colors flashed passed your eyes, green like the garden in Coruscant, blue like the sea in Naboo, gold like the sands in Tatooine. Maybe this was how it was supposed to end, maybe this is how your story was written from the moment you were born. You would grow up, fight, and die. Never experiencing much else all the planets had to offer. Maybe when you died you would get the chance to rewrite your story, write it full of love and laughter. Maybe you’d wake up and this would all be a sick nightmare that you’d wake up from in a cold sweat. But maybe, just maybe this was it. This was all it is. This was dying. Is this what you’ve avoided all those times? Was this what innocent people saw? What countless Jedi saw everyday? What would Anakin see? Or Obi-wan, or Ahsoka? Would they see these colors? Or would they remember everything that happened in their lives? Would they remember the story they are leaving behind? The life, the legacy they have created? Would innocent lives mourn their deaths? Would children weep in the streets at their fallen bodies? Would anyone remember their names? Maybe time would pass, and their graves would grow moss like a sickness growing inside them. Maybe time would pass, and those weeping children would tell their children about the brave soldiers that fought for their freedom. Maybe there would be nothing, just a flash of light and then it would all be over. No remains of what once was. Maybe there would just be Anakin, holding your life in his arms, the life of his best friend, his equal, the one who he truly loves more than life and all the stars. Would you leave him to walk this world alone? Would you leave him to fight, to die, in a world who never understood him? But no other choice was given to you, there was no hand of another being, no light, no rope to pull you to a better place. There was no sign of anything else. Just his trembling hands, just his voice that you cannot hear over the pounding of your blood and the beating of your heart. Was this all there was? Just a vast open nothingness for you to live out the rest of eternity? This was the dance of death, this over and over spinning in circles waiting for something to change. You’ve danced this dance for years, maybe it was finally time for you to stop. Were you truly afraid of death? Or were you afraid of what you’d leave behind. Maybe you’ve gone mad. Or maybe, you’re finally seeing this world for what it truly has to offer you. Nothing but fear, for the world doesn’t make you, the world doesn’t shape your being, your existence, your soul. Only you do. You choose what you fear and what you do not, you choose whether you get back up and fight or whether or not you stand down. You choose, because this cold and unforgiving world will always try and choose for you, and trust that it never gives you the option you so desire. The planets will eat away at your body until you’re nothing but a memory, and maker be damned, but that’s not how this story will end. For this story, your story, is about you. And it will not end at the hand of some selfish bastard who didn’t even have the guts to kill you hand to hand. It will only end when you’ve truly had time to accept it. It will only end, once you’ve done everything you’ve been put here to do. Your story, Anakin’s story, the Galactic Republic’s story isn’t amazing, isn’t great, but it’s the only one you know. So get up, get up and fight for it. Get up and fight for a chance to permanently alter this story. Because if you do not do it now, you never will.
--
Medical droids were busying themselves around you when you finally opened your eyes. It felt as if they’d been closed for a millennium. But the face you saw at the side of the bed was not the one you were expecting. Not the rough around the edges best friend of yours, but his padawan.
“Ahsoka?” You whispered. Although you did not want to whisper, but your voice could barley form the words to speak.
“Master Y/N!” She jumped up from her chair, rushing the medical droids over to examine you. She waited quietly, muttering something to R2 to beeped happily and left the room. Once the droids had left you once again, she came back over.
“We’ve been so worried about you. Master Obi-wan has barley been seen by anyone, and Mas-”
“Where is Anakin?” You croaked out. Not feeling bad that you had just completely cut the young girl off.
“I just sent R2 to get him. He refused to leave this room for so long that Master Yoda had to force him out. It got kind of ugly, but he’s been sneaking in every night to see you. You’ve been out for a couple weeks-”
“A couple weeks?” You croaked again, cutting her off again as well.
A couple weeks? What had happened with the meetings? Padme? What was the conclusion the senators finally came to?
So many questions went spiraling through your head that it began to pound. But before your thoughts had started to spiral too bad, you heard it.
“Y/N.” You recognized that voice anywhere, you could pick it out of a crowd of a million people. You turned your head as much as you could, seeing him rush through the door and to your side. You didn’t know when Ahsoka left, but you were grateful to her for leaving you two alone in this moment.
He sat on the bed, both his hands on the sides of your face. He looked pretty much the same, just some big bags under his eyes that weren’t there before. But you blocked that out, and closed your eyes as he connected his forehead to yours. The energy radiating off him would power the entire planet, and you wondered if his is how he’s been al these weeks that you laid here unmoving.
“Is Padme okay?” You spoke softly, the roughness of your voice raising more alarms in Anakin’s mind. But he smiled, a smile of relief.
“You saved her, you saved her life.” You nodded at that, feeling a knot of stress release itself within your body. “Maker I thought I lost you. I tried to be here, I didn’t leave for so long. I wanted to be here-”
You cut him off my lightly laying your thumb over his lips, the rest of your hand resting on his cheeks like he had his only moments ago.
“I know, Anakin.” The reassurance made the soft tears leave his eyes, and he closed them sharply.
“You looked dead, you just went limp. You went limp in my arms, and all the color drained from your face. Your eyes, they were just dull.” He explained, reopening his eyes and looking to you. “I will never let anything like this happen again, I promise.”
“I’m alive, I will be okay. I promised you long ago I would never leave you alone. And by all the stars as my witness I’m sticking to that promise Ani.”
“I love you, Y/N.”
You were still loopy, and not sure if the words you just heard were even real. Maybe you just imagined them in the state you are in.
“W-what?” You asked him, your gaze never leaving his.
“I love you, I’m in love with you. I just want you to know- I just, I can’t keep this inside anymore. I’ve loved you since I was a kid, and almost losing you. Holding your dying body in my arms, I-” He was still choking on his tears, leaving wet streaks down his gorgeous face. “I never want to be away from you. I am in love with you. And it would have killed me everyday of my life if I never got the chance to tell you that.”
You didn’t know what to say, still half convinced this was a fever dream you’d soon wake up from. Your voice failed you, so instead you pulled him down to meet your lips. A simple thing you had imagined doing for so many years. You never would have imagined the warmth that radiated off of them, or how smooth they would feel against your own. You were both calm in that moment, but desperate to show how you felt other than using words. His lips were flushed as he pulled away, but not as flushed as his cheeks were.
“I love you, Anakin Skywalker.” You said, a small chuckle leaving your lips as you said it. You never imagined that this situation would be how you both confessed your feelings for each other. You had always thought maybe on some remote planet far away, were you could get away from the war, from the order, and live in complete freedom and happiness. But instead, it was on a bed in the medical wing of Coruscant, with medical droids buzzing in the background. But it couldn't be more perfect to you, and it couldn't be more perfect to him. To Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one, to the love of your life.

Arrogance
Summary: You despised Anakin. He was cocky, he was arrogant and he had a mouth on him. When he and his padawan Ahsoka get held captive by General Grievous, you have to decide fairly quickly how far you are willing to go to save the man you can’t stand.
Warnings: Anakin being cocky, life or death situation, arguing, a lil cheesy?
Tumblr media
You stood with your battalion aboard the Paradox, your favorite ship in all the galaxy, as Obi-wan Kenobi’s blue hologram flickered in and out as he spoke to you.
“He’s done it again, and now we’ve lost all communications with him.” Obi-wan told you. You rolled your eyes, of course Anakin would, he’d lead innocent people, innocent lives into a trap. What’s new. It was supposed to be an easy mission, but then again that’s what is always said.
“Y/N, you are the closest one to them. We are sending you the coordinates now. Please, try to bring them all back in one piece. Oh, and now I fully give you permission to rip Anakin apart. I fear his arrogance when it comes to these things is, unmatched.”
You nodded your head to him, smiling at his joke as the hologram cut out.
“What’s the news, General?” Az, your clone commander asked.
“I need a small group, no more than four. We are heading to rescue Anakin, Ahsoka, and two of his clones. We need the stealthiest clones we have. I want no one being seen, we need to get in, and get out before General Grievous knows we were ever there.”
“As you command.” Az said, walking away. You always appreciated him, he would follow you blindly to whatever end you wanted him to. Of course, that was his job, but he wasn’t just another clone, he was a good friend. They all were to you, whether it’s their job or not.
Obi-wan was correct, you were very close to the coordinates. It gave you just enough time to be greeted with four of your best clones, Az, Cas, Leo, and Coop. They stood in front of you, tall and proud, ready to follow you in whatever you say.
“Alright boys, I’ll say this just once. We need to be invisible, if Grievous catches a wind of us being there it is likely Anakin, Ahsoka or the clones could be in for it worse than they already are. We rescue them, and we leave. Do not kill any droids unless you are being shot at, I nearly never advise this as you know, but hide. Hide whenever you see one, I cannot express how important it is to not be seen.”
“Don’t you worry, we’ll get them out of there before Grievous even knows they are gone.” Cas spoke, the others nodding and agreeing.
-
By whatever luck you all had that day, the Paradox landed quietly, and before any droid could notice, all entrances to the hangar bay where blocked off, there was only one way in, and one way out.
“The last place we got communication from them was here.” you softly spoke, pulling up a hologram of this ship. You listened to the ideas of the clones, as they managed to follow the plan and get you all safely to the same level they were last known to be on.
A small group of battle droids appeared down the hall, making all of you scatter. They never were bright droids, luckily for you guys. You poked your head out, scanning the hallway, and it was silent. You mouthed and waved your hand, and you guys were moving once more.
“Jedi!” A droid yelled from behind you. “Blast them!”
“It’s just through here, General Y/N!” Az yelled, him and Cas shooting back at the battle droids as you and the two other clones ran into the security room.
“Find them! Search all the cameras, I’m going to help.” You ordered, running back to the hallway to assist the others. As the last battle droid fell, you looked at the mess, maybe 20 dead droids lay in the hall.
“Should we hide them General?”
“Even if we tried, more could come walking round the corner. What we need to find is where-”
“General Y/N!” Leo exclaimed, sticking his head out of the security room. You looked over to him, hoping desperately that he’d say he found them.
“They are in a holding cell.” He said, ushering you into the room to see the cameras. Sure enough Anakin, Ahsoka and a couple clones, stood in a row, hands held up by chains. Ahsoka’s head was hung low, her body hanging limply. Anakin looked the same, he was coughing and trying to speak, but you couldn’t make out what he was trying to say.
“Can you find exactly where this is?” You asked Leo who started searching immediately. “Coop, Cas, guard the door. Someone is bound to have heard that commotion.” They nodded before making their way towards the door.
It took only seconds, a couple of clicks before he spoke up.
“General, I’ve found them.” Leo said, moving aside to show you.
“Do you have a plan?” Az asked, gun held across his chest. The three other clones turned to look at you.
“We need to get to that cell, and cut them out of those chains. Leo, and Cas, I want you two to take the other two clones and go ahead to the Paradox. Make sure no droids are in our way, and get the Paradox ready to get us out of here. Coop, you need to grab Ahsoka. Az, you’ll help me with General Skywalker. Grievous will likely know very soon we are here, so we need to go, now.” You spoke, the four clones nodding at you, gearing up with their blasters out. There were shuffling feet moving past the door, causing all of you to hold your breath. Muffled droid voices got farther and farther away, before Cas gave you the all clear.
Leo led the way, and you felt like you’ve been running forever. Any time a droid was close you five would hide, and waited patiently until they were completely gone to keep moving. This wasn’t the way you wanted to do things, if you had it your way this entire ship would be going down in flames. But this rescue mission was too important. This wasn’t the first time you were sent to rescue Skywalker. He had a knack for getting himself into trouble, and getting caught. Every time you came for him he had a stupid smirk on his face that you wanted to slap off. He knew each time you’d be sent to get him, you had no idea why the council thought you were friends. Yes, you grew up together, yes you’ll train together, but even the training isn’t very friendly. Maybe that’s why they did it, to get you guys to finally at least agree on something. But you knew the consequences if Grievous was to get a Jedi.
“Here it is General.” You all stopped outside of a closed metal door.
“Can you get into it?” You asked, seeing there were no buttons or keypads anywhere near. How did this thing open and close?
“There has to be a control panel near by.” Az said, scanning the hallway.
You pulled out your lightsaber, shoving it through the door. It didn’t take long for the circle to fall out, but it would have been much faster and quicker finding the panel.
You climbed through the hole, your clones behind you. Once again your lightsaber ignited, and you carefully cut the chains to the clones first, Leo and Cas helping them down.
“You guys go! Start the Paradox. We’ll be right behind you.” Although Anakin’s clones were slower, walking with a bit of a limp, they climbed through and started to run in the direction of the paradox. “Grab onto her.” You said to Coop, as you cut Ahsoka’s chains. Her head was still hanging low, and her chest barely moved.
“Get her out of here.” Skywalker’s voice was raspy, like he hadn’t had water in days. You didn’t respond, not because you didn’t want to, but because you wanted him to save his strength. You knew if you talked back to him it would become some bicker match, and frankly as much as you loved arguing with him, you didn’t have the time.
“Bring her to the medical droid immediately.”
“Yes, General.” Coop responded, carrying the young padawan out of the cell.
You finally were able to really look at Anakin. And maker, he looked like shit. He was pale, his hair matted with blood and whatever else you couldn’t even tell.
“Az, grab his side.”
“Please don’t cut off my arm, I only have one left.” He chuckled a bit at his own joke, violently coughing.
“Save your breath star boy.” You responded, carefully removing his chains. He groaned at the nick name, you knew he hated it, which is why you always used it. Az caught him as he came crashing down to the floor, and he starting coughing again. “Just hang on for a bit longer, Obi-wan will kill me if I don’t bring you back alive.” You said, going to his other side, throwing his arm around your neck and pulling him up.
“Less of the chit chat, more of the get me out of here.” Anakin said, barely able to keep his head up. Before you three exited the cell, there was shuffling feet and yelling coming from down the hall. You and Az turned to look at each other.
“We need to get him out of here, General.” You nodded your head, tightening your grip on Anakin as you walked out of the cell. Two droids where up ahead, their backs turned towards you three. Az looked over at you, for a silent conformation. You nodded once, now wrapping your other arm around Anakin as Az let him go to grab his blaster.
“Hey! Someone tell the General, the prisoners are!” The droid was shot mid sentence, but the other one started to run.
“Go after him! I’ll get him out of here!” You yelled to Az, watching him hesitate for only a second before going after the droid.
“You’re going to let me die in here aren’t you, Shaky?”
“Don’t fucking call me that.”
“Oh, but star boy is acceptable?”
“Need I remind you, I’m the one rescuing you? So less of the commentary and let me rescue you.” Anakin seemed to get heavier, like his last bit of energy was used in this bickering. You wrapped your arm around his back, and starting dragging him down the hallway. His feet couldn’t keep up, and he groaned loudly, before they completely went still.
“Come on Anakin, don’t do this to me now.” You said, sweat sliding down your back.
“For once, I think I agree.” He wheezed.
You froze, hearing the familiar droid steps.
“Freeze, Jedi!” You ran through how to get out of this in your head. You couldn’t carry Anakin and kill the droids, even though they’ve always had bad aim. Az would probably come looking for you guys soon, but then what will happen if they don’t leave? Then all of you guys will be trapped here. It is not worth risking the many to save the few. Maybe Az would take Anakin back and leave you to distract the droids.
“Don’t even think of staying behind.” He groaned, his voice super rough and scratchy. His eyes were barley open at this point, and you’d bet he was in and out of conciseness this entire time.
“Well I don’t really see a way out of this otherwise. I will not risk the many to save the few.”
“Spoken like a true Jedi.” He whispered. You don’t know why that hit home with you. Maybe because you’ve never agreed upon anything, you two were barely civil with each other half the time. And you looked at him while more and more droids surrounded you. For the first time in your entire life you didn't feel anger when looking at him. You saw the kid you grew up with, your rival, but your friend. Whether you liked it or not Anakin did truly know everything about you, and you him.
“Drop your weapons, Jedi!” You were snapped back to the reality that you were in fact, in some serious trouble. You thought about calling Az, but with this many blasters pointed directly at you, it was risky, they could end up hitting Anakin.
You looked over to the man beside you, who, at this time, you completely held up. His eyes were closed, and his mouth partially open. If you did not get him out of here soon, he will die. You heaved your body, resting Anakin more against yourself as you reached for your lightsaber. You unhooked it from your belt, and before you could even attempt to throw it to the floor, a blaster shot out, hitting your shoulder. You screamed, falling to the floor, Anakin’s body falling with you. Your head hit the metal flooring of the ship, making your vision blurry. There were shouts, blasters firing, and the group of droids that stood behind you moved past you both. It took a second to sit up, feeling some blood rush down from your temple. Two clones stood in front of the mass of battle droids, firing away. The hunks of metal fell like flies, but Anakin’s groans could be heard over that.
“Y/N?” He never said your name, it was normally an insult, or shaky. He called you shaky the first time you trained with him. Your hand shook so bad your lightsaber was practically flying all over the place, and he never let you forget it. You mustered up whatever strength you had left to get to him. Moving your body around so his head laid comfortably in your lap.
“You’re going to be okay. I’m going to get you out of here.”
“Leave me. Take Ahsoka, take the clones and go while you still can. Grievous will-” He coughed, violently shaking. “Grievous will be happy that he finally captured one of us. I’m going to die, at least let me die knowing you guys are safe. Please, I need you to be safe.” His metal hand lightly touched by your cheek, blood dripping down his fingers from a deep cut on your head. You almost forgot you were hurt, and even if you remembered, it wouldn’t be a priority.
“I’m not leaving you here to die, Anakin, you aren’t going to die.”
“It’s like you said, do not risk the many to save the few.”
“I will risk my life to save you. To save the only person in this whole galaxy who ever truly knew me.”
He smiled a bit, before his lips twitched in pain.
“I knew you had a heart in there somewhere.” He ran his hand up by your cheek again, letting it rest there. “I’m willing to beg, Y/N. Go, go while you can. It will haunt me for the rest of eternity, if I knew you died trying to save me. I did this to myself, let me pay my price.”
“GENERAL!” Az yelled, killing enough droids to get to you. “Generals, we need to go now. Or we’ll never make it out of here.” He looked past you, turning your own head to see more droids making their way down the hall. Destroyers rolled out, which means Grievous couldn’t be far behind. You looked at Anakin, the man you have despised for most of your life. You truly looked at him. He was your friend, your confidant. He was Anakin Skywalker, the best pilot in the galaxy, the chosen one. You could not let him die like this. You will not let him die like this.
“Take him back to the Paradox. I’ll hold them off enough for you guys to escape. He needs to be treated immediately, time is not on your side Commander. You protect him, Az. You protect him with your life.” Although you could not see the clone’s face, you could sense the shock coming from him. You confided in him over how much you want to beat that stupid smirk of Anakin’s face, how much you wish you just just smack him with your saber, how much you hated him. But you never admitted how much he truly meant to you, how could you?
“General-“ Az started.
“Y/N. Please. Please don’t.” It wasn’t the begging that made your heart clench. It was how he said it, the silent pleas for me to listen. The tears that formed in the corner of his eyes. You never imagined this could happen, and you don’t know what over took you in this moment. Your thumb wiped the tear away, and you leaned down to kiss his forehead. Your own tears dropping onto his face.
“Give them hell for me, Skywalker.” Your forehead touched his, closing your eyes for a brief second.
“Take him, and go. Now. Before it’s too late.” Az didn’t move, and Anakin gripped your sleeve.
“General, I really think.”
“That is an order, commander.”
You didn’t look back when Az dragged Anakin down the hallway and to your ship. You willed every bit of force you had to stand up and grab your saber. But you fell into darkness before the first blaster could shoot.
-
The weather in Coruscant barely ever changed. And even if it did, you doubt people would notice. When you woke up on the dreary day, you didn’t know where you were, or frankly what day it was. All you could place was warm skin touching your hand. Without moving your head, you saw Anakin, fast asleep with his head on the bed you laid in. He was bandaged up, only a couple injuries showing. You looked to your hand, not moving it, but wondering why he was here, why he was holding your hand.
Memories hit you like a waterfall, the mission, sending them off in the Paradox, the army of droids that stood in front of you. But they left, how were you here?
As if Anakin could sense your thoughts, which he could, his head lifted up. His face was busted up, but you could manage to see a layer of concern on it.
“Y/N.” Your name came out as a soft whisper, the rasp of his voice he had gone.
“Are you alright?” You asked him. You had a million questions, but that one was more important than any of the rest.
“Thanks to you, I guess I owe you a thank you, Shaky.”
“Even in my death bed you won’t drop that name.” You joked, closing your eyes for a bit. The white room was too much, the white robes, the white bed, the white bandages Anakin sported.
“Why didn’t you leave me there?” He asked, not looking at your face, but down at your hand which he still held.
“Why would I?”
“I was already hurt, you could have rescued them and left me. But you risked yourself, why would you do that?”
“There are some people in this galaxy Anakin, that need to survive.”
“Don’t start with this chosen one crap again.”
“I’m not talking about you being the chosen one, I’m not even talking about you and your stupid ‘best pilot in the galaxy argument’. I’m talking about you as a Jedi, you as a person. You are hope. You are a beacon that people look too.”
“For what? What purpose do I give? I’m reckless, I’m selfish, death surrounds me! I grew up a slave boy on Tatooine!”
“Why does it matter where you came from? You think that’s something to be ashamed of? So what, Anakin? The future of our worlds, the future of the Republic, of the Jedi, of freedom needs you Anakin! Your past does not.”
His face held barely any emotion, but you could tell he was trying to bit back on whatever he was thinking.
“You know, I screamed when they took me away from you. I was so terrified of what you would become after they were done with you. And I’d choose to die a million times over again than having to even risk your life. You want to know why we don’t get along? Why we can’t stand each other? Because I cannot bear to let myself get close to you. I cannot bear to lose you like I’ve lost everything else. And that is why I despise you, why I cannot stand to be near you, because the moment, the very second I realize you aren’t okay I’m going to completely self destruct. This that what you want to hear? You want to hear how ‘the chosen one’ can’t breathe right when you look at him? Hear about how I screamed, screamed so loud for them to swap our places? I begged them on my knees to save you instead,  You have the power to completely destroy me, and you walk around wondering why I hate you.”
You, hate me?” Scoffing as you said it.
“I hate the way you worry about me, I hate the way you skip breakfast, I hate the way you never can sleep through the night, I hate the way I can sense you thinking, walking around the halls. I hate the way you always want to calculate everything, I hate the way that you lay in front of me bloody and broken, and yet the only true pain you feel currently, is from me. I hate what you’ve done to me, who you’ve turned me into. And I hate, no, I loath, that I would have laid down my life to save yours, I would have sacrificed so much, and so many, to save you.”
“And you think, what? That you’re some saint? Like you’re a walk in the park? Your arrogance knows no bounds, and your rashness and blatant stupidity for the well being of others makes you the last person in the galaxy I want to be around. I cannot stand you, I cannot stand to have you look at me like you are. If you don’t stop I swear to the maker I am going to end up falling in love with you!”
“Well.” His voice returned to normal, the anger in his face disappearing. “I guess it’s settled then.”
“What is?”
“That we both want to do this.” You didn’t realize you were still in a medical bed when his lips touched yours. You didn’t realize how mad you were until his hand gripped your cheek, melting every other feeling away. His lips tasted like home, wherever that was. You wished this moment could last a life time, tugging on his hair a bit, causing a deep groan to slip out of his mouth. You pulled away shortly after, your chest rising and falling rapidly as you both stared at each other.
“I didn’t think you kissed the people you loathed.” You said, still remembering his words. He chuckled a bit, used to the remarks.
“No, I only kiss people I love.” And he reached towards you once again, capturing your lips in his.

Oh, Brother / part 2
Summary: Dealing with the after math of your brother, Anakin and Obi-wan try to pick up the pieces.
Warnings: death, Obi-wan and Anakin trying to comfort you, Obi-wan being a 100% father figure. Not my gif
part 1
Tumblr media
Your feet tried to run to him, to the lifeless body laying in the grass. But two arms stopped you, grabbing onto you tightly as your knees gave out.
“Please, bring him back. Please! Please, just bring him back!” You screamed, watching Anakin pick your brother up in his arms. Everything was moving so fast.
“Y/N, we need to leave, now.” You didn't move, still kneeling in the grass, screaming. “Can you stand?” Obi-wan asked, but you did not answer. His words got lost in your mind, there was nothing to to process other than the body before you.  No other words could form as you watched his limbs swing lifelessly in the arms of the man you love.
Obi-wan hoisted you up to your feet, half pulling you half carrying you back to the ship. You felt numb, your limbs wouldn’t move, couldn’t move. Your feet dragged through the grass, not comprehending how Obi-wan was managing to get you back into the ship. Your tears never stopped, not when the ship lifted off of the ground, not when Anakin disappeared carrying your brother, not when Obi-wan sat you down and kneeled in front of you.
“He was innocent, he knew nothing, he never lived, he never truly lived. And now he died, he died knowing I couldn’t protect him. I deserved his fate. I did - I do.” You choked out every word as you spoke, your tears soaking your face. Obi-wan was quiet, carefully taking in ever word you spoke, truly listening to your confession.
“The things you have seen, these things you have survived, they are not who you are. They do not define you, Y/N. What has happened here tonight, that is not on your shoulders, it is on Anakin’s and mine. In spite of everything, he is still your brother, you care about him, and he will always care about you.”
Anger and pain built within you, not at Obi-wan or Anakin like the bounty hunter said, but with yourself. You were careless, you must have exposed him somehow, not Anakin, not Obi-wan, not even the damed council that only let you see him once a year for this very reason, but you.
“You taught me how to do everything, Obi-wan. Except how to live without him. I cannot do this without him.”
“And for that I have failed you. I should have prepared you for something to this calamity, and I did not. If you only knew how sorry I am. But, someday you will reunite, and you will get the goodbye you deserved.” There was guilt evident in his eyes, shame as well. You thought about how they each would have to stand in front of the council, in front of people who trusted them, and tell them how they failed. You thought about how you would have to do the same thing, and how you’d see in their eyes that they felt bad, but they wouldn’t really acknowledge that. They warned you the price of doing this, and they were right. You thought about how you’d have to explain to the people who loved him like a son, treated him like he was their own, how you failed. You are a Jedi knight, how are people supposed to trust you and put their faith in you when you can’t even protect a harmless child.
Your body went rigid, and your mind flashed back to all the times you guys had together.
-
“Will I ever visit Coruscant?” Y/B/N asked.
“Visit Coruscant? Why would you want to do that? You know there are no grassy fields, only zooming speeders going at all hours of the day.”
“But you’re there, you’re important there.”
“And you are important here.” You reminded him. “I’m told you open and close the shops down the road everyday, that takes a lot of time and knowledge.”
“But I miss you. I miss Anakin.”
“Maybe I can talk to the council and get him to come with me next time to visit you?”
“I have to wait a whole year?” He whined.
“Sounds like you are more excited to see Anakin than your own sister!” You exclaimed teasingly.
“No! Not at all!” He had a worried tone in his voice, like he thought he upset you. “He’s just... super cool.”
“Yeah,” you said with a small chuckle, looking over at him. “I guess he is.”
-
He will never see the stars again. Never see different worlds, never fly a ship, never meet new people, never fall in love, never become a father. He will never figure out who he is.
Your vision fogged, thicker tears threatening to spill over.
“I need to see him.” You could barely make out the words. Obi-wan nodded at you, standing up so he wasn’t in front of you anymore. You started walking down the hall, your back towards him.
“When we land, and after I inform the council, I’ll see to you having some time off. I might be able to pull the same for Anakin. You deserve a break Y/N, you-” he hesitated, sounding down on himself. “You deserved one long before this.”
“You’ve done nothing wrong, Master. You have not failed me, you never have. Everything you’ve done is for Anakin, for me. I only wish to return the favor one day. You have not failed today. I did.” You only half turned while talking to him, barely seeing the glossy eyes of your master before starting your descent once more. You didn’t want anyone to blame themselves, although you know they both would. Obi-wan has trained you since you can remember, and had never once failed. Throughout all the times you’ve made mistakes, he has stood at your side, defending you and your choices. Good or bad. He was more than you could ask for in a master, in a friend. And that he truly was, he was your friend, he was like the father you never knew. The way he acted, the way he basically raised you, he stepped up to the plate long before you even realized.
The ship was eerily silent, only the humming could be heard walking down the hall. You stared at the closed door to the extra room on board, Anakin must have still been in there, otherwise you would have seen him when you were coming here. You didn’t know if this was something you wanted to do alone, with Anakin present, or really at all. But sooner or later you would have to face the truth, that he isn’t coming back.
The door slid open, and Anakin stood in the doorway, obviously not expecting you to be standing there. His hair was messy, messy from the winds, but you could tell he had been running his hands through it too. It was his eyes that really gave him away, they were bloodshot and glossy. You stared at him, as he stared at you. No words were needed to express to each other how you both were feeling. No words were ever needed, you both knew each other so well, knew what the other was feeling. In that mere seconds of looking at him, he knew what you needed. His arms wrapped around you fast, the metal one grasping onto you tightly. You let him rest his chin on the top of your head as you shoved your face into the side of his neck. Your body shook in his grasp, and deep sobs came out of your mouth.
You can’t remember a time in your entire life that you cried this hard. Your whole body trembled, if anyone else heard you, they’d think you were dying. You could hear Anakin sniffling, as he gently rocked you side to side, not letting go for a second. He put light kisses on your head, which comforted you just the slightest.
“This wasn’t meant to happen, love. I am so sorry.” That only made you sob harder, your chest burned so bad, but there was no stopping the emotion channeling through you. You’re happy he didn’t say much else, you don’t think you could have handled another speech. During Obi-wan’s it took everything in you not to completely break down, but if you heard one from Anakin that would surely seal the deal. You pulled your head out of his neck, his skin glistening from your tears. The room was small, it had a bed, a small table, and a little window. But there he was, laying on the bed, and he looked peaceful. There was no blood, no gore like you had expected from the death he received.
“Did you clean him up?” You whispered, still unmoving from your spot in the door.
“You didn’t need to see him like that, you deserved to see him peaceful, one last time.” You didn’t know how to respond, thanking him just didn’t seem appropriate in this moment. He could tell you stalling, but if you went over to him, you’d have to accept the unacceptable. His softly put his hand on your back, kissing your forehead. “I’ll be with Obi-wan if you need me, okay? I think you guys just need to be alone for a bit. I love you, Y/N, so much.” Your chest tightened as the door closed behind you. Finally walking over to him, you knelt down next to the bed, and grabbed his cold hand.
“I am so sorry, Y/B/N. All I ever wanted was for you to be happy and safe, and look at what I’ve done. I thought by keeping you far away, that it would protect you. I thought that, I thought I was helping.” Your voice was hard to understand, cracking and breaking at nearly every word you spoke. “I don’t have a lot living like this, but I had you, and that was enough for me. You were always enough for me. I promise, I promise you will not be forgotten. You will live on in my heart, from this day until my very last.”
Your back pressed against the cold wall, never dropping his hand. You watched out of the small window, as you came into the atmosphere. You almost never wanted to return home, because returning home means letting go. The ship landed, and before long there were voices outside the door. Multiple, more than you came on this mission with. There was a soft knock, but you didn’t respond. You just stared at Y/B/N, keeping a tight grip. The door slid open, and multiple pairs of feet were shuffling into the room. A hand touched your shoulder, instantly knowing it was Anakin’s.
“Hey.” He whispered so quietly. “We need to get you back to your place, okay?”
“I won’t leave him.” You turned in his direction. Looking into his eyes, making yours instantly tear up yet again. “I’m not leaving, Anakin. I won’t leave him alone again.”
“Alone, he will not be.” Master Yoda spoke, walking slowly to you, his cane tapping on the floor as he walked. “Ready, we must get him.” Both of his hands rested upon his cane.
“Y/N, you must trust us. You will see him once more, but we need to get him off this ship.” Obi-wan said. They all looked at you, Master Windu standing silently in the corner, never looking away from Y/B/N.
“Go now you must.” Master Yoda nodded at Anakin.
“I’m sorry, Y/N.” Anakin said, as his arms wrapped tightly around your chest and stomach as he pulled you from the ground.
“Anakin, please! Please, don’t do this!” It didn’t bother you the scene you were sure to make. It didn’t bother you what words people would whisper about you. All that mattered, was him.
“I’m sorry, love.” Anakin whispered when he finally managed to pull me off the ship. “We have to do what’s best for him.”
People were watching, but acted like they weren’t. You clung to Anakin as he carried you away, the ship, and all the bystanders getting farther and farther away. Your breathing, for the first time in what seems like a life time, calmed down once you two where alone. Your apartment didn’t seem the same, like it was missing something.
“There you go, love. Just breathe a bit, yeah?” You nodded, closing your eyes.
“Why does this hurt so much?”
“Because you loved him.” You clutched the cement siding of the balcony, not even realizing that he got you back to your place.
“If this is the price of love Anakin I do not want it. I don’t want to feel like this.”
“You have no choice but to be loved. As long as I’m around, you’ll be loved, even after I’m gone, I will still love you. There is no escaping that.” He hugged you again, pulling you away from the edge of the balcony and into his chest. “I owe everything to you, my love. I owe my knowledge, my very being, and my heart. They belong to you, and if I can give those things away, I know you can come back from this. We’re told that feelings are weakness, that they can lead you down the wrong path. But the love I have for you is nothing short of extraordinary. And if I’m weak for feeling this way, I’ll die a weak man.”
It took you a while to respond to him, taking in his confession, remembering all the happy times you had with him.
“I love you too Anakin, thank you. Thank you for everything.”
“There is nothing to thank me for. I will always look out for you.” His thumb wiped away the stray tears falling from your eyes as you looked at him. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to your lips. You could taste your salty tears, but you didn’t care, and neither did he. Your heart beat quicken, just like it was the first time he ever kissed you. And when you finally pulled away, you were greeted with a smile, his smile. Which you used to swear could light up the night sky.
“You know I’m always looking out for you too, right?”
He chuckled, brushing some stray strands of hair behind your ear.
“You don’t need to be doing that.” He said, his smile still on his red lips.
“Who would do it if I don’t?” You asked, turning yourself around so your back was against his chest as you both looked towards the setting sun.
“Your brother, I suppose.” He answered.

Oh, Brother / part 1
Summary: As a Jedi, you are to form no attachments, as they are paths to weakness. But you never forgot about your brother on the planet Chandrila. Allowed by the Jedi council to see him once a year, it came as a surprise to you that they are telling you to go to him. Although the circumstances aren’t ideal. Obi-wan and Anakin are sent to go with you, but even they couldn’t save him.
Warnings: death, a little slow leading up to part 2, Y/B/N is your brother’s name. Not my gif
part 2
Tumblr media
“You’ve requested to see me?” You say, standing in front of the Jedi council. Though, it wasn’t all of the Jedi council. Only five other people sat in the empty room, which made you believe it couldn’t be anything very serious. Windu, Yoda, Plo Koon, Obi-wan and Anakin sat in utter silence, like no one wanted to speak first. You weren’t concerned until now, until you notice the look between Master Windu and Yoda. You turned to look toward Obi-wan and Anakin, both looking as though they were in the same boat you are.
“Y/N. We’ve,” Master Windu hesitated. “We've heard some news from Chandrila.”
“From Chandrila?” you interrupted. “From my brother?”
“Yes. There has been an accident. We believe there is a bounty hunter in search of your brother. He is wounded, but alive. We do believe the hunter will be expecting your arrival, so when you land be cautious-”
Master Windu kept talking, but his voice drowned out, seeming farther and farther away until you couldn’t hear him at all. From that moment on you felt nothing. Nothing but a slight tingling in your fingertips as Master Windu’s mouth moved fast. Your feet were frozen in their spot, and the room seemed to shrink around you.
“Y/N?” Your name rang loud and clear for the first time since receiving the news. “Y/N, are you listening to us?” You opened your eyes, which you didn’t even realized you closed, and unclenched your fists.
“Yes, sorry Master. Just trying to process this.” You said, surprisingly calm for how you are feeling on the inside. He silently nodded, acknowledging how you felt but not saying anything about that.
“Then it’s settled, you, Obi-wan, and Anakin fly to Chandrila. He may remain here in Coruscant until he is better, and until we know this bounty is erased.”
“Master Obi-wan and Anakin, in order you must get everything. Y/N, privately we must talk.” Master Yoda said for the first time this meeting.
You nodded your head, looking towards the two who where now exiting the room. Anakin turned to close the door, catching your eye, giving me a small nod trying to reassure you.
You didn’t talk about your family much to anyone, except Anakin of course, but your brother was one of the main sources of your happiness. He was young, but fearless. He always believed in doing what was right, and he wants nothing more than to stand at your side and live with you in Coruscant. It was tough explaining that he is needed in Chandrila, the family that took him in runs businesses there.
The two times Anakin accompanied you to see Y/B/N, they hit it off immediately. Y/B/N looked up to Anakin, as a little brother would look up to an older brother. And it truly made you happy knowing your little brother loved Anakin as much as you do.
-
Master Yoda and Master Windu explained a little more in depth of this situation. Who they thought sent this bounty out, and how we should execute this plan.
“Dark times these are. Strong, you must be. Get him safely you will, everything else, leave to them.” You nodded to them, taking your leave to the ship Anakin and Obi-wan were on.
You sat down on one of the seats in the hallway, the ship wasn’t huge, but it had a room with a bed, and seating throughout. A familiar smell hit your nose, as a certain tall Jedi sat down next to you.
“You don’t have to try and comfort me Ani, I’m not fragile.” You said, staring only at your hands that fiddled in your lap. You could see him chuckle out of your peripheral, and turn his body to face you. Two fingers lightly touched your chin, pulling it upwards so you could look at him.
“I’m not here to comfort you, I’m not even here to tell you that it’s going to be okay.”
“Well, gee, thanks Anakin.” You say with a small chuckle.
This caused him to smile, seemingly making the dim hallway brighter.
“I’m here because you’re my best friend-”
“Just your best friend, huh?” You teased him.
“If I remember correctly, you my love, are the one who wants to keep things so secretive. But, whether or not you like it, I tend to know when you’re bothered by something. Especially, when Y/B/N gets thrown into it.”
“This is why I don’t want him here, this is the life I would constantly lead. Wondering how he is, where he is, if he’s even alive. Even though he wouldn’t live this exact life,” you say motioning to the ship and the light sabers strapped to your sides. “Coruscant isn’t any place for him. He’d miss the businesses, the people, his family.”
“You’re his family Y/N.”
“But I’m not his home. He is so loved over there Ani, I see it in everything they do for him. And I see how much he truly loves them. I may be his sister, but I am not them Anakin. He never knew our parents, and I’m so grateful for that, but that place, that’s his true home. That’s where he belongs. He would find no comfort in Coruscant, he’d never see me, and when he would, I don’t want him seeing me beat up or so exhausted I can’t talk to him. He’s a child, he needs a place to be his own person. He needs to have a happy childhood, he needs parents who care for him. I don’t need him turning out like me.” Small tears pricked your eyes.
“Turning out like you?” Anakin questioned you.
“Don’t act like I’m some saint.” You said, looking away from him.
“We’ll I certainly don’t think you turned out in a bad way-“
“Look at us. Look at what our lives consist of. We can have no love, no attachments, all of that is deemed weakness. I can’t get one damn night where I’m peacefully asleep, I’ve got problems Anakin. I don’t need him picking up things that I do.”
“These things you do, aren’t your fault. They are just casualties of war.”
“Exactly. War. I want him no where near war.”
Anakin grabbed your hand, pulling it into his lap, covering it with both of his.
“War is inevitable, angel. Especially for us.”
“I never wanted this. I never wanted him to get hurt.”
“No one did. All that matters now is we are getting him and bringing him home. He’ll be safe here with you, with me.”
You both sat there in silence the rest of the way, not an awkward ‘please leave’ silence, but it was an understanding type. Anakin understood you had nothing to say nor did you really want to say much.
It was a quick and quiet landing, as it was supposed to be. You fastened your belt around your waist, your lightsaber tucked into its holder.
“Let’s make this quick and easy shall we?” Obi-wan asked us, as the ship settled down and the hatch was opening. “Y/N, you and Y/B/N’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priority. We have reasons to believe this bounty hunter will be here, and if he is he obviously knows we are here. You need to get in, grab him, and get back to the ship as quickly as possible. Leave everything else to Anakin and I. Do you understand?”
You and Anakin nodded, walking towards the hatch.
“Be quick, Y/N. Don’t be seen.” You gave Obi-wan a silent nod, and followed them down the hatch. You are only granted to come here once a year, no more, otherwise people could figure out about Y/B/N. But you knew exactly where he’d be, and you wondered if he was even told you were coming. With your hand on your lightsaber that was still tucked away in your belt, you kept close to the walls as you entered the house. It was dark, probably made to look like no one was home. You couldn’t see practically anything, but your senses were tingling, you could tell he was here.
“Y/N!” Your name sounded in a shriek, and it instantly made your blood run cold. Busting out of the door, there was Y/B/N, your brother, the boy you swore to that you’d always protect, with a blaster held against his head. His pant leg was stained with blood, but the actual wound wasn’t exposed.
You didn’t notice Obi-wan or Anakin at your sides until the bounty hunter started talking, all you were focused on is the tears falling down his cheeks, and the helpless way he looked at you.
“I have a job to do, and he's worth much more alive than he is dead!” The hunter stood in the shadows, but his blue skin was hard to miss.
“Whatever business you have with the boy let him go! We can pay you double whatever he's worth.” Obi-wan tried to reason.
“If I do not bring him back, one way or another, I will die.”
“Please.” It came out as a whisper, but the wind carried your voice for miles.  “He’s my brother, he’s just a boy. An innocent boy, he knows nothing of the Jedi, or anything about my life. Spare him and take me. I’m sure I’m worth far more.”
Anakin let out a growl when the words left your mouth, but you wouldn’t dare even look at him for a millisecond. You did not dare to take your eyes off Y/B/N.
“Y/N.” Obi-wan whispered a warning.
“Do you not understand, you Jedi scum?” The bounty hunter spit. “We’ll get you too, and we’ll kill you for the crimes you have committed, but first it’s him. We want you to wake up everyday with the knowledge that you, and your most trusted acomplisses were not able to save your brother. Every time you look at them, your hatred will only grow.”
“That’s enough!” Anakin’s voice boomed across the small field.
“Have I struck a nerve, Skywalker?”
“We are not leaving here without the boy.” Obi-wan said, his voice non wavering. You knew how this was going to end, and you had a sickening feeling in your stomach that this would be the last time you’d see your brother.
“Let this be a lesson for you all, let this be a lesson for those who dare to have hope.”
And your scream over powered the sound of the blaster and the sound of your brother hitting the ground, but not the sound of his laugh before a blue lightsaber stabbed its way through his torso.
All things, happy and bright, died in this very moment. For the first time in your entire life you have to breathe knowing your brother is never coming back.

This is Not A Dream
A/N: really soft anakin? But like still protective? Let’s just see how this will turn out
Pairing: Anakin x female reader
Summary: You and Anakin have been best friends for years, and have always told each other everything about your lives. After getting kidnapped a few months back, you haven’t been the same. Anakin notices this behavior, and one night hears your screams from your bedroom.
Warnings: nightmares, mention of kidnapping, fluff, not my GIF
Tumblr media
Training was quick to end, and to be honest for the most part you weren’t even present. You and Anakin train daily, well, whenever you could. Recently you’ve both been whisked away to help something with the order. You were beyond exhausted, bruises scattered your legs and arms, not huge, but small purple circles encompassed your skin. The bags under both your and Anakin’s eyes were darker than normal, causing you both to look older. But still, you both fought with everything you had in you.
“Y/N,” Anakin said again, though you didn’t even hear him the first couple times. He stared at you, eyebrows furrowed, reaching his hand out to touch you. “Y/N,” he said again. His hand was about to reach you, causing you to flinch away, but not before igniting your light saber. It was a defense mechanism, not even realizing you did it. The furrowed eyebrows loosened, and pain quickly flashed over his eyes. Concern was now evident on his face.
What were you going to do? Where you going to kill him if he touched you? Why was this your first reaction? Did I just cause him pain?
Anakin knew, without knowing of course. Ever since you’ve gotten back you’ve changed. You’re more skittish, but not in a clumsy way. It’s like your senses heightened, you tune into what your surroundings are more, you notice more. But you also smile less, laugh less, it’s like you are … less. He’s tried reaching out to you, trying everything he can to spark some sort of happiness in you. But everything he tries, never seems to work. You kept a watchful eye over your shoulder he’d notice, and you’d exuse yourself early, you’d never stay out with him anymore. No more late night training, no more sitting and looking at the city. You were closing yourself off more and more, you were declining rapidly, but yet whenever asked, you’d respond with the same answer. “What ever would be the matter with me?”
You never talked about what had happened a month ago. Never once. You where gone for a week until Anakin and Obi-wan rescued you. When they told you it was only a week you wanted to laugh, only a week? You could have sworn it was years.
It was a cage. That’s the first thing you remember when you opened your eyes. You were sent on a solo mission, nothing new for you. It should have been a simple mission, find the control center built by the empire, blast it quick, and fly out. Leaving your ship not even required. But it wasn’t that simple. Your ship was hit, and you plummeted towards the sand, getting knocked out. The cage was cold, metal, and everything else in the room was in the shadows.
You put up with a week of torture, coming in and out of consciousness on the daily. You were so weak that the force wasn’t even an option. Death was accepted at this point, no one was coming, no one was going to save you. They came in everyday like clockwork, and tried to beat the answers out of you about the Jedi Temple. Threatening to kill your master, and threatening to kill Anakin. But you said nothing, you were ready to die everyday they came in. Your arm was twisted, beyond repair you thought. Your left eye was swollen shut and a deep cut was beginning to scar over across your face. Until one day they didn’t show up, you were left alone for the entire day. You could hear some fighting outside, no blasters, just yells and grunts. Was this a dream? It was silent for a moment, like everything in all the planets stopped moving. The door busted open, and natural light flooded into the small room, causing my right eye to squint. My heart thumped, nearly out of my chest. You knew that voice, knew that figure. Anakin.
Coming back to reality, realizing you’ve now gotten the attention of not only Anakin but Obi-wan as well. People stopped what they were doing around us and stared. With glossy eyes you tried to blink that away as soon as possible. You don’t want to show weakness, or want to show that it still bothers you.
“Y/N, can you hear me? Are you okay?” Anakin asked, concern still on his face, but his voice was soft, caring. His light saber now tucked back into his belt, Obi-wan’s nowhere to be seen either.
You dropped yours, not knowing why it was still up. You were safe here.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” You asked, shrugging off the episode that just occurred. Anakin and Obi-wan stared at each other as you walked away. You could feel the pair of eyes boring into your back as you walked away. Swiftly, not wanting to catch anyones attention.
The elevator ride up seemed long, and you wanted nothing more than to just crawl into bed and hide away for the rest of the day. So that’s just what you did. You skipped lunch, dinner, a very important meeting with the council. There was no motivation, no amount of strength to usher you out of bed and into the public. Before the sun was even close to setting, you shut your eyes.
Anakin’s place was adjacent to your own. Many nights you’d both sit by the huge open windows and talk until the sun came up. He was your best friend after all, and truly it was horrible not being able to talk to him about this at all. He’s asked multiple times, never pushing you, but you could tell he wanted to know. He joked about having matching scars on your faces. The diagonal cut across your face scarred over, a constant reminder. You could tell the order wanted to know what had happened, what was said and how you managed to survive the injuries you sustained, but you weren’t ready to say it, or even truly process it. It was only Yoda that knew, and knew without you having to even so much as open your mouth. Like he could see into your mind, your memories, everything you fear. It was remarkable he had yet to share this knowledge with the council, but then again, it was not his information to share.
Loud voices woke you up, coming from the other room. It sounded like an argument, though it didn’t seem harsh. You could tell by the hushed tones that they were trying not to wake you up. Sleep overwhelmed you once again, and what started as a good dream, a happy dream, soon turned sour.
You were back in that cage, in the cave like room with only a small light to let you know if it was morning or night. Panic swelled, and your hands grasped the cold metal bars, shaking them violently in hopes to escape. This couldn’t be real, it’s just a dream. You’re not back here, you’re safe, you’re at home. What if this was real?
“This is not a dream Y/N, you’ll die down here. Give us the answers we seek, and maybe I’ll spare you and your friends.” My friends? You were all alone, this was a trick, it’s not real. All you’re reassurance flew out that thick metal door when two droids dragged in Anakin. His long hair was messed up, and he too looked like he had been tortured.
You screamed, screamed so loud that your throat burned. Your bedroom door busted open, Anakin and Obi-wan running in, light sabers drawn. But all they saw was you. You were sat up in bed, tears streaming down your face, eyes red and puffy. Your night shirt revealed most of your stomach, which was frantically moving with each gasp. Your long hair was braided back, sticking to the sweat on your neck. And your hands where grasping tightly onto the bed sheets, white knuckled and shaking. The understanding hit that it was just a dream, that you were safe and in bed. But that comfort didn’t scare away the dream that you just had.
Anakin closed his saber, running to you immediately, and Obi-wan quickly checked your room, eliminating the change of any threats.
“Anakin,” you cried, his hands met your face quickly. Scanning you for any possible injuries. Obi-wan whispered about going to alert the council. This didn’t bother you, you needed help, that was a fact. He gave you a fatherly smile, and walked out, closing your door behind you.
“Shh Y/N, you’re safe. I promise. It’s just you and me, you’re okay.” He whispered, pulling you into him. His chin rested lightly on top of your head, and his arms wrapped around you, squeezing you tight.
“I was back there,” you choked out “and they - they had you and they were going to kill you and I couldn’t watch you die I couldn’t, I tried-“ you rushed out, hiccuping as you spoke.
“You’re safe love, it’s just you and I. You’re here, you’re home. I’m never letting anything else happen to you.” His hand brushed through the loose strands on your hair. He rocked so lightly that you almost didn’t notice he was.
“I’m so scared.”
“I know, and that’s okay. I swear nothing bad will happen again, I’ve got you, love, and I’m not letting you go again.”
Your breath slowly goes back to normal, the shaking slowed down as well. But Anakin did not loosen his grip on you, if anything he held you tighter.
“Please,” you whispered, “please don’t leave me.” The statement itself sounded like a child had said it, and you were slightly embarrassed. But you couldn’t be alone, not now.
“I’m staying, I’m not going anywhere.” He carefully picked you up, laying himself on your bed and pulling you back against him. Slowly pulling your hair out if it’s braid and running his fingers through it. You laid with your head against his chest for a long time, long enough to be tired yet again. “Sleep.” Anakin whispered to me. “I’ll stay right here, nothing will happen to you. Just go to sleep, love.”
His voice was so soft, but so deep. It was soothing, calming you down even more. You didn’t respond, only closed your eyes, and feel deep asleep with your face shoved into his black Jedi robes.

Say Something
Bellamy Blake x reader
Summary: Y/N gets caught in a grounder trap which causes her and Bellamy to realize how they feel for each other.
Tumblr media
Bellamy led the way, marking out any signs of danger or traps along the path. Earth was silent now, peaceful. The wind came through the trees, blowing my hair to my right. Clarke and Finn were walking behind me, chatting about the Ark, her mother, anything that they deemed fit. Looking ahead there he was, leaning over something that lay on the ground. Black boots crunched the soil and sticks, and I walked over to him.
“It’s new, they’ve been here within the last couple days.” He said, not directly looking at me, but staring at the trip wire.
“We’re in their territory Bell, they want us gone as much as we want them gone.”
“Traps are getting closer and closer to camp. Pretty soon it won’t be safe to leave our walls. And that’s what they want, they want us cowering behind them. They want us scared-“
“But that’s not what we’ll give them. They’ll get no satisfaction out of us, but Bell they will if they see us slowly killing ourselves trying to figure out their tactics. They’ve lived here longer than we’ve been alive. Let’s regroup and think of something new.”
He always listened to me, unless the situation was concerning his sister. That’s the one topic I don’t enjoy talking about, and I try to never interfere with. Octavia has a mind of her own, and sometimes Bellamy just can’t seem to understand it. But if I was locked in the floor for my whole childhood then thrown in a cage to rot, I’d act the exact same way. So he stared at me for a split second, nodded his head and stood up. I offered up a small smile, which he returned. It took some time to fully understand Bellamy. Truth is we hated each other in the beginning, well, I’m pretty sure everyone hated each other in the beginning. I saw Clarke as bossy and Finn and Wells as dogs following their owner. I saw Bellamy as a loose cannon, and Murphy as a power drunk child. And Bellamy has said more than once that I was seen as an arrogant know it all. Of course this arrogant know it all stayed by his side the entire night after getting a knife to the thigh, which Clarke was pretty content with leaving it in at that point in time. He never thanked me for staying with him, and I never wanted him too. But we stayed up most of the night talking about our lives on the Ark, and him pestering me about how I ended up in a cell, which to this day I never told anyone. And when he finally got tired, and his eyelids began to droop I threw a blanket over his body and stayed with him until the sun rose. I could have left, but something told me to stay, to make sure he was okay. He never forgot that, and neither have I.
“Guys!” Clarke yelled. We both snapped our head in her direction, starting to run towards her and Finn. My adrenaline was pumping, it could be a number of things. A grounder, some weird radiation messed up animal, a trap, a body, acid fog coming, all of these things passed through my brain until we stood in front of the pair. There was no horn, no body, not even a drop of blood. But there was a thick chain, completely rusted out and blended into the ground.
“Where do you think this leads to?” Finn asked us.
“Maybe directly into their camp?” Clarke answered.
“Or directly into a trap,” I said.
“All possible, and for once I’m going to say let’s go back to camp. It will be dark soon and we’ll be as good as dead if we’re out here afterwards.” Bellamy said, standing up and turning in the direction of our camp.
“You’re joking!” Clarke exclaimed. “You’re the one who’s always saying how we have to find them and kill them. Kill or be killed I think I remember you saying at one point. Now we actually have a lead of something and you want to turn back!”
“I’m not putting all of our lives at risk to follow some rusted chain in an area we aren’t familiar with, not to mention, Princess, if you looked up at the sky recently you’d realize it’s going to be dark soon.”
“No rules, right Bellamy?” Finn countered.
“Oh for once let’s just go back. Bellamy is right, it’s getting dark and if this leads to a camp we are far too close for my comfort. From the looks of it the chain will still be here tomorrow so we regroup in the morning and have the entire day ahead of us.”
Clarke and Finn just looked at each other, thinking about the very valid points I just made, and Bellamy placed his hand by the bottom of my spine, as a silent “thank you” to defending him.
“Okay, but we come back first light.” Clarke said. We all nodded, silently agreeing to this.
“There better be something to eat when we get back, otherwise I’m going to-“ I stopped talking when I heard the click and felt the pressure of stepping on something metal below me. No one moved, no one dared to even breathe as we all registered what this is.
“Y/N,” Bellamy said slowly, “don’t move a muscle.”
I was completely frozen in fear, we all knew what is was, the rust covered chain now making a lot more sense. A bear trap laid under my foot, and I just stepped in it.
“Bell-“ I whispered. He so very carefully took my cheeks in his hands and made me look at him. If I didn’t know him I would think he didn’t care, but in his eyes you could see the panic dance and become him.
“Clarke, Finn, have any of your famous bright ideas right now?” He said, not breaking his eye contact with me. No one spoke, only the heavy breaths of the four of us filled the air.
“We could try to slowly bring her off and replace her weight with something else.” She finally said. “Finn we need something, a uh, a log of some sort, or a rock.”
This plan sounded horrible, there was no way I was going to be able to walk away from this… literally.
“A rock!? Tell me you’re joking..” Bell snapped out.
“ I don’t see you coming up with anything better!” Clarke snipped back to him.
“So if this closes on me,” I finally spoke.
“It won’t,” Bellamy assured, still directly in front of me.
“Let’s not lie to ourselves Bell. But if it does, what’s the chances I walk again after this?” I asked, afraid to hear the answer.
“It all depends on how hard it clamps to your leg, and what the spikes will hit when it does. But we’ll get you out of this Y/N, we just have to find something.” She ran over to Finn, who was shifting through trees and tall grass in search for anything.
“So I finally see Earth, I survive radiation, and I’ll die from bleeding out due to a rusty bear trap. Not very heroic if you ask me.” I tried to joke. I know Bellamy could see right through it, but for once I silently begged him to just go along with it.
“A bear trap isn’t going to be what kills you. We’ll figure out a way to get you out of this, I promise.”
“You know you shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep Bell.” He was going to say something, I couldn’t tell if it was a witty remark or a serious one, but was shut up by Finn running back with a large log. You could see and feel the tension in the air, and the longer I stared at the stupid log, the more I knew I was definitely at the end.
“Okay Y/N,” Finn started. “You’re going to slowly drag your foot off while we push the log on at the same time okay?” I nodded, my hands gripping Bellamy’s and Clarke’s hands hovering over my back. Finn slowly set the log down, starting to push it against my foot. “Okay you can start moving back.” He stated.
I hesitated. I saw no good outcome of this.
“We’ve got you,” Bell whispered. I followed direction, and with only the top half of my foot left on the trap I was starting to trust this. That was until an arrow flew, whizzing next to all of our heads and landed into the tree behind us. Another one flew, and this time we weren’t so lucky. A long arrow embedded itself into my shoulder, I screamed out in pain, pulling my foot out of the trap too soon. The blood oozing from my shoulder was no match for the blood now pouring from my foot. The rusted trap worked, and was now clamped down so tight on my foot. My scream ripped out of me, overpowering the voices of the three others.
Everything was happening so fast, Bellamy’s arms gripped my waist, holding me up. Finn kneeled the the ground and grabbed both sides of the bear trap, trying his best to pry it off. Clarke had a gun raised to the trees, ready to shoot anything that moved. And I, feeling so dizzy still screamed out in agony.
“Clarke I can’t get it off!” Finn screamed.
“She’s losing too much blood!” Bellamy screamed. Truth be told I couldn’t tell if they were truly screaming or not. There was a ringing in my ears, a buzz almost. Like I had something covering my ears. The sunlight heightened, and everything moved in slow motion. Another arrow came soaring past, just missing Clarke. She turned to face me, gun to her shoulder as she aimed towards the chain. How many bullets would she waste trying to shoot her way through a metal chain? My head rolled a bit to the side, the arrow sticking out of my shoulder looked huge to me. I didn’t hear the shots, or register Bell’s arms scooping me carefully to his chest. But I felt myself swaying back and forth, he was running. My eyes moved slowly, I felt no pain. The trees swayed with me, the leaves moving in the wind. I sometimes still couldn’t believe we made it down here, we are alive and living on Earth. Rough hands squeezed me closer to Bellamy’s hard body. And as tears flowed out of both of my eyes, I started to feel shooting pain. I knew the two points in which the pain orientated, but it seemed to flow through it my entire body. And I did the only thing I knew I could do. I screamed.
I don’t remember falling asleep, maybe I passed out. I don’t remember returning to camp, or coming into the drop ship. But as soon as I opened my eyes I saw the metal ceiling. I had to squint at first, unable to move for a split second. My head fell to my left, where there was no more arrow stuck in my shoulder. I was laying shirtless, my black bra on display to anyone who walked in. But as I shifted I realize that wasn’t the case. A large jacket moved against my skin, I recognized that jacket, it was Bellamy’s. It laid over me, covering my chest and stomach, my shoulder out in the open but covered my a bandage. My shoe was off my foot, and my pants where pulled up to where the trap had clasped itself too. I felt a pain, nothing like how it was before, but I nearly cried out when I realized I could feel all the way to my toes.
Bellamy stirred, his head lifting up from its previous spot on my waist. It took us eyes a second to adjust, as he was the first one awake. Clarke and Finn hunched in the corner fast asleep.
“Y/N,” he whispered, scooting towards my head, pushing a stray hair behind my ear. “Are you okay? Are you in a lot of pain, I can wake-“
“No,” I finally said, and he stopped talking instantly. “Let them sleep. They deserve it. Just like you, did you get some sleep? Have you eaten anything?” I started questioning him. He let out a quiet laugh, making sure he didn’t wake the two up.
“You’re the one who was impaled, twice may I add, and you’re asking me how I slept and if I’ve eaten?”
“I worry about you.” I said silently. I wasn’t embarrassed to say it, but the words felt heavy in my heart.
“Oh, Y/N.” He said running his thumb over my cheek. “I’m never letting anything happen to you again, do you hear me?”
“I’m glad they shot me Bell, I wouldn’t haven been able to handle seeing you in pain.” I admitted.
He didn’t move after I said that, he stayed frozen, his thumb resting on my cheek. “These last few days, not knowing if you’d make it or not,” he started saying.
“But look at me Bell, I did make it.”
“Barely. You barely made it. There were moments were I swear you stopped breathing.” He choked out. “I never want to feel the way I did for these last couple days ever again. And never again am I going to let you go through what you just did. I get hurt before you, I go down before you, I will die before you.”
The confession was strong, and full of emotion. His eyes were glossy, and his face was flushed.
“If you think I’m going to let you die for me, Blake, you’ve got another thing coming. And I’m okay, look,” I said to him, showing him I could wiggle my toes and move my shoulder. “I’ll walk away with just a couple of scars, nothing major.”
The look in his eyes made me smile. He was so relieved that tears started to fall from his eyes. It’s true, Bellamy and I have become great friends since landing on Earth, but I don’t know what has gotten into him today.
“I love you, Y/N. I was afraid I’d lose my chance to tell you if you died on me. But I need you to know, everything I do now, every choice I make, of course I do for the best of the people, but also for the best of you. I love you, and I need you to know that.”
“I love you too.” I replied without hesitation. I could tell I caught him off guard with my confession, but I spoke nothing but the truth. I had loved him since the night he let me sleep in his tent after waking up from a nightmare. That seems so long ago, only happening within our first week of being here. His smile grew as big as I’d ever seen it. And he didn’t waste any time before gently placing his lips on mine. Who knew all of this could happen because of one stupid bear trap?

What Have You Done?
Summary: Y/N helps Anakin on a mission when he comes down with a fever from a wound he was trying to hide from her.
Warnings: fluff, sick!anakin, wounded!anakin
Tumblr media
“Master Y/N!” I heard my name from the entrance to the training room. Obi-wan and I stopped training both putting our light sabers to our sides as I turned to Master Windu.
“Good morning Master Windu,” I said, strapping my light saber to my belt, walking over to him.
“Y/N, I’m afraid we’ve got some problems on Tatooine. Master Yoda’s ship has been destroyed, and need him to be picked up immediately. We fear he could be in danger.”
“Yes Master, I’ll leave immediately.” I said, starting to walk away.
“Master Y/N! Take Anakin with you, he needs a break from his Padawan. Let Ahsoka train with Obi-wan .” I chuckled, knowing how easy it is to piss off Anakin, and having someone follow him around 24/7 occasionally gets on his nerves. Well, it’s not even that, sometimes I think it’s just her.
The elevator ride was quick, and I grabbed my ropes and headed towards Anakin’s apartment. Ahsoka was leaving, cheeks flushed and eyes glossy.
“Hey,” I started but she stormed past me. “Ahsoka!” I yelled after her, not rudely but in worry. “Are you alright?”
“Yes, sorry Master Y/N, I meant no disrespect.” She said, trying to wipe her eyes as if I didn’t notice how she looked.
“Ahsoka, I don’t care about that. Are you alright?”
“Yes, Master Anakin, he’s just in a bad mood today.”
“A bad enough mood to bring you to tears?” She didn’t respond to my question, she just looked in the other direction. I sighed, knowing how Anakin can get. “Anakin is not the easiest person to get a long with,”
“You and everyone else seems to have no problem with him-“ she cut me off.
“That’s because I’ve known him basically his entire life, and he knows I won’t put up with his crap. And he knows what happens when he sasses the rest of the council. I’m not defending him, but he’s had a hard life. Sometimes he just forgets that we are his friends and not his foe.” She didn’t say anything, still wiping her eyes. “We’ll lucky for you I’m taking him off your hands for the rest of the day, Master Windu has requested for you to be with Master Obi-wan for the rest of the day. You can meet him in the training room.”
“Thank you,” she said quietly, running off. I sighed again, rubbing my head. If Anakin had enough anger or stress to snap at his Padawan he’s not going to be in a good mood at all. I walked up to his door, and knocked on it. There was no answer, so I knocked again.
“Anakin! We got to go, open up!” I shouted through the door. It opened slowly, and Anakin appeared, looking ready to go. I was about to ask him about what he had said to his poor padawan until I looked at his face. His normal tan was gone, and his normally darker lips where pale, paler than his skin was. The scar on his face almost looked darker, like he’d just gotten it. He had bags under his eyes that dropped so low they could hit the floor, and his nose was red. “You look worse than normal.” I joked, watching him roll his eyes.
“Yeah Y/N, great. That’s exactly what I want to hear.” He said walking out of the door and closing it behind him. Clearly he was in no mood for jokes.
“Anakin, stop. You look horrible, go to bed, I can do this mission on my own.”
“No you’re not. I’m not letting you go somewhere alone.”
“It’s nowhere bad. Just to Tatooine to rescue Master Yoda. His ship was destroyed. No fighting, just a pick up. Besides, I’ve very capable of doing something without you, you know.” I reasoned, choosing poorly to throw in another joke.
“And what if you run into trouble, love. You need me.” I quickly looked around, making sure no one was near. Yes, we both knew that secretly everyone else knew about us. But we’ve been warned countless times to not engage with each other in this way. Neither of us really cared, but we both agreed to not bring it to light around anyone else. Oh please, you act like they don’t all know we are together. Obi-wan practically set us up.”
“You don’t need to flaunt it to all of Coruscant!”
“Come on princess, let’s go save Master Yoda.” He stalked away from me, walking slower, and what I could have sworn was a limp.
Boarding the ship I kept a close eye on Anakin. I convinced him to let me fly, and he’d be the co-pilot. This was a good choice as I noticed he was asleep before we even left Coruscant. Everything was in order, and we would soon reach Tatooine soon. I motioned for one of the droids, talking to them I let them take control of the ship.
“Anakin,” I whispered going towards his seat. “Anakin honey, can you get up?” He didn’t wake up, after the multiple attempts. I placed my hand against his forehead, pulling it back as my hand burned from his skin.
“Love?” He said, opening his eyes.
“Come on, there’s a bed on board.” I said gripping his arm and pulling him up.
“I’m fine, just a little tired.” He said, pulling out of my grasp.
“Oh please, you look like death, you’re burning up, and I’m guessing this is the reason you were so rude to Ahsoka. I’m not even leaving the ship, Yoda and the droids are just boarding and then we’re going back to Coruscant. No need to be awake, and no need to worry. Now please Ani, get some sleep.”
“You always know how to sweet talk me,”
I rolled my eyes, smiling a bit at his remark.
“I’ll sweet talk you more when you’re feeling better.”
“Then hurry up and get me to bed, I can’t miss that.”
I opened the door to the small room, and he fell onto the bed.
“I’ll wake you up when we’re back on Tatooine.” I said, helping him cover himself with the blanket. He smiled towards me and closed his eyes, falling asleep almost immediately. I walked back to the front of the ship, watching as the planet came into view.
“Welcome Master,” I said opening the hatch for Yoda and a couple droids to enter the ship.
“Thank you, Master Y/N, home I do miss. Go back now we must.”
“Coruscant isn’t far Master Yoda, we’ll be home soon.”
“Alright are you?” He asked me, sitting down in a chair.
“Yes, why would you think i wasn’t?” I asked him.
“Pain, suffering I feel.”
“Well Anakin came too, he wasn’t feeling good so he’s laying in the back.” I answered, starting to get a strange feeling crawling up my neck. “I’m going to go make sure he’s okay.” I said. Yoda only nodded at me, like he knew. Like he knew Anakin wasn’t okay, like he knew it was serious, like he knew I loved him. I turned towards the bedroom and sprinted across the long ship. My heart was racing, and for the first time in a long time, I felt fear. I pressed the button to open the door, and just like Yoda predicted, he was in pain. He was curled in a ball, body shaking as he was wheezing.
“Anakin!” I yelled, running towards him. His eyebrows were furrowed and his face was scrunched. “Anakin look at me please,” I pleaded, resting both of my hands on the sides of his face. Sweat was dripping down his brow as he looked into my eyes.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I knew you’d worry and you’ve been so busy recently,”
“What are you talking about Ani?” He opened up his rope, and lifted up the hem of his shirt. Under it was torn skin and the start of an infection. I didn’t know what to say, I just stared at the wound. From the looks of it it looks like a blaster shot skimmed him. “When did this happen? You fool Anakin! Thinking you’d just let this slide because I was stressed? Did you not think of your health? Did you not think of yourself? Why in all the planets would you let this happen!” I exclaimed.
He didn’t respond, laying back down. Sweat was still pouring from his forehead and the wound moved with how hard he was breathing. My eyes watered looking at him, I didn’t understand why I wanted to cry. I wasn’t sad, I wasn’t truly that angry, seeing him in pain like that clouded my mind.
“I’m going to go grab the medical droid, I’ll be right back.”
“Y/N, please I’m fine just stay here. Please.”
Never once in my whole life have I heard Anakin beg, never has he pleaded for anything. That’s what fueled me to go get help.
“I’ll be back in one minute, I’m sorry Ani, I have to.”
I ran, ran across the already small ship, but it seemed to get larger with every step I took. I found the medical droid talking by Yoda. I touched his shoulder, and his mechanical body turned to me.
“Please, you have to help. Anakin is laying down and he’s hurt, hurt badly.” I rushed out. The droid starting making his way to the room and I followed, Master Yoda walking quickly behind me as well. The droid opened the door, and Anakin was still shaking, sweating and groaning in the small bed. The droid went over to him, and asked for us to please leave the room. I opened my mouth to protest but Yoda gave me a look, and I knew there was no point to argue.
I paced back and forth outside the door. “Y/N, careful you must be. Rules you know.”
We didn’t speak until we got back to Coruscant. Yoda wandered off, probably to inform the council of what had happened. I hadn’t moved from my spot outside the door, and the droids did not allow me to enter. Clones ushered me off the ship before Anakin, gripping my shoulders and pulling me off.
“Let me go!“ I yelled, shoving them off. I was worried, worried why he wasn’t getting rushed off this ship, and worried why I was getting dragged away.
“Y/N!” Obi-wan’s voice rang out grabbing my attention. He paced over to me and grabbed me out of the clones grasp.
“Anakin’s hurt, he needs to see someone and they haven’t taken him off the ship he-“
“Anakin will be fine, he always is. He’s Anakin, the kid could survive the world ending. He will be okay. Why don’t you come inside, relax for a bit.”
I didn’t want to relax, I wanted Anakin off the ship and rushed to get help. And I didn’t relax, not for the rest of the day, and when the sky was dark I did not sleep. I couldn’t stop thinking about what they weren’t telling me. Why they kept him hidden. It could be because maybe we have gotten to obvious with our relationship. But I did not want to believe it was because of his condition. I sat on the wavy shaped couch in my apartment, my head between my hands. I didn’t cry, maybe because I didn’t want to, but I just kept it there, and I didn’t pick my head up until a soft knock on my door the next morning.
“Y/N?” Obi-wan opened the door just enough to peak his head into my apartment. I lifted my head from my hands for the first time and stared at him. I had to energy to go rushing over to him, no energy to even ask if I could see him, because I knew that was a lost cause. “He’s back in his place, moved him in this morning. They want him to rest for the rest of the day , but I can sneak you in for a bit.” I perked up at that, pushing off my couch and following him out of my apartment and towards Ani’s.
“I’ll be quick, I promise.” I whispered to him, and disappeared into Anakin’s place.
The apartment was quiet and dark, and I walked as softly as I could to his bedroom, not wanting to wake him up if he was asleep.
“You don’t have to be quiet, I’m more than awake in here.” The sound of his voice filled me with hope and happiness. It is like coming home after a long day, it is like flying with nothing in front or behind you but the stars. I ran to his bedroom door, fully opening it and looking at him.
His hair was clean, some parts still wet. He laid propped up, pillows behind his spine and a thick cotton bandage wrapped around his waist. His muscles and abs flexed as he shifted slightly.
“By all means, whenever you’re done staring,” he said, opening his arms out. I scoffed to him, rolling my eyes at the comment, at least that means he’s feeling better. I moved to his left side, careful not to lean on his wound, and rested my head in the crook of his neck.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked quietly, not upset with him, but just confused. He let out a small sigh, bringing his arms to wrap around my frame.
“I didn’t want you to worry I guess. I knew how much they’ve been putting you through, and I didn’t want to add to that.”
“Next time Ani, just admit you’re hurt. Don’t play this invincible hero shit, I don’t need to feel how I felt yesterday ever again.”
“I’m sorry love, it won’t happen again.” The apology was sincere, though I wasn’t looking for one. I brought my head out from by his neck and smiled to him, and he smiled right back. I leaned up slightly and placed my lips on his. We stayed like this for the remainder of the day, and frankly I didn’t care if anyone needed me. I didn’t care if anyone was looking for me. I bet Obi-wan was covering for me, knowing I wasn’t planning on leaving his apartment for the night, not like Anakin would even let me try.

Late nights
Summary: A late night of looking for a lost planet keeps Y/N and Anakin up for hours. When neither of them show up to a council meeting Obi-wan goes looking for them.
Warnings: fluff, Y/N thinking her and Anakin are just friends but Anakin secretly loving her
Starts out in Y/N’s pov then switches to Anakin’s pov
Tumblr media
My eyes burned. We’ve been scanning over maps for hours, no rest and no breaks. The council tasked us with looking for what seems like a non existent planet. They are producing droids faster than anyone could imagine, and we were given only a couple clues about this planet from one of our spies.
We were given three days to collect as much information as possible. Knowing Anakin, and knowing myself, we took no breaks. This “droid factory” as they are calling it poses a huge threat to the order. This fueled our fires and for two days we haven’t taken one break. No sleeping, hardly any eating, other than Anakin forcing me to eat because apparently “he can’t have me pass out on the job”. Obi-wan has assured me he feels something for me, but that’s just crap.
Our meeting is tomorrow, and the best we have is knowing it’s somewhere in the outer rim.
“Anakin, we’ve been doing this for two days. Let’s just tell them that we need more time and more information,” I tried to reason with him. He just sighed, the bags under his eyes darker than the galaxy. He looked up at me, sensing that I haven’t stopped staring at him. He, like me, looked terrible. His long hair was ruffled, looking like the wind ran through it. His shoulders were slouched over the table and the millions of maps that laid on it. Both of us looking paler as every hour passes.
“We’re so close Y/N, please, we can’t give up now.” he tried to reasoned with me.
“Close to what? We’ve figured out all of nothing! All we’ve done is starve and become exhausted. Look at you! You have barely eaten and I haven’t seen you even close your eyes. Like honestly Anakin, have you even blinked?” Maybe throwing a joke in the mix would make him realize it’s okay we figured nothing out.
“Of course I’ve blinked! What do you think, I’ve just created a new way to not have my eyeballs fall out?” I knew he was joking, but the snap of the comment hung heavy in the air. I said nothing in response, if jokes weren’t going to work I wasn’t going to try. We are far too tired and far too stressed to know how to communicate. Even with each other. Anakin and I have known each other since our padawan stage. We’ve always been close and friends but we’ve had our moments, which can cause us to go days or weeks without speaking to each other. Obi-wan would always force us to both apologize and lock us in the training room to let us figure it out. Which always worked, we’d either fight, physically or just yelling, or both realize we’ve been silly. “Y/N, I’m sorry. I’m exhausted and I know you are too. I just want to find this, I don’t want to fail them-“
“Oh maker Anakin, you won’t fail anyone. And even if we don’t find anything, you won’t be alone. I’m right at the bottom with you.” I rested my hand over his, as a sort of reassurance. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you fall alone.”
“You never have,”
“Exactly, so why would I leave you alone now?” I questioned He chuckled, twisting his hand around so instead of mine resting on his, he now held mine.
“There are a lot of things I’ve done, Y/N. Some dumb, but even when I was in the right, you have been behind me on them.” His right hand rubbed his brow. “I don’t think I’ve ever said thank you for all the things you’ve done for me.”
“You don’t need to, you’re my friend Ani, my best friend in fact. You don’t need to thank me for doing what I know you’d do for me in return.” He finally smiled for the first time in two days. Our conversation ran through my head, seeing Anakin blink made me think.
What do you think, I’ve just created a new way to not have my eyeballs fall out?
“Anakin,” I said, shaking my hand that was still being held by his. “Anakin!” He looked up at me, waiting for what I had to say. “What if they created a place for the factory? What if they took an empty planet, and made it their own.”
His eyes sparked, “Shit. Y/N, what was that one planet Master Yoda-“ he couldn’t finish his sentence before we were both tearing through our maps.
“There was a couple, four to be exact.” We pulled out each map, a couple of them holographic. And into the night we searched.
— Anakin —
“Anakin,” a familiar voice whispered. “Anakin,” I heard again. I opened both of my eyes, my head resting on it’s side against the table. Obi-wan stood in beside me, taking his hand off my shoulder now that I was awake. In front of me and across the table Y/N was sound asleep. Her head was hanging to her side as she was sitting up in her chair, her neck bound to hurt when she wakes up. “You guys didn’t show up the the council meeting, we figured you hadn’t found anything and were still looking due to your absence.” He explained. I sat up in the chair, thanking him for waking me up. “Get some rest Ani, the both of you. It looks like we’ve been starving you two.” Obi-wan looked over to Y/N, not bothered by us talking. “Get her to bed, to fall asleep like that she must truly be exhausted. You’ll both be excused until tomorrow.” He left shortly after, leaving me with her.
Y/N was beautiful no doubt, but something about how peaceful she looked made me smile. We’ve known each other since we were children, we’ve grown up together, we’ve killed and survived along side each other. She was my best friend through and through. Yet she was more, and I’ve never had the balls to say so, but rules are rules.
But at the same time, he truly didn’t care about the rules. He’s loved Y/N since they were young, that’s why he asked for her help on this. That’s why they were always doing everything together. Deep down, Anakin did not want to be parted from her, and he never let her out of his sight. Of course she could protect herself in every way possible, but still, she was always worth all the efforts he did to keep her safe.
“Y/N,” I softly said, walking over to her slumped in the chair. “Hey, we’ve got to get some rest, we have a meeting tomorrow.” She still did not move, her chest rose and fell slowly but deeply, at this point I knew I shouldn’t wake her. Maker, let her not panic if she wakes up right now. I slowly pulled out her chair, looping my arms, one under her legs and the other around her back. Carefully I picked her up, letting her now slump into my chest. Her head rested in the crease of my neck, and she moved only slightly. I made my way to her room, glaring at the people who laughed to loud when passing us. She was warm, not too much where it would concern me. I made sure in these last two days that she was eating enough and staying healthy. But even though she was warm, she pushed herself further into my body.
Making it to her room I opened up the door. Passing the couch and chairs, going towards her bed. The bed looked so comfortable, even the stuff chair in the other room looked comfortable. Carefully setting her down, I pulled her boots off, setting them by her bedside. I pulled up the blankets from the bottom of her bed and covered her shoulders. Once again, she looked peaceful. I didn’t realize I was staring at her until she lightly stirred, opening one eye to peer at me.
“I can sense you staring at me Ani,” she whispered, her voice sounded hoarse.
“Go back to sleep. We have a council meeting tomorrow morning, other than that we are excused for the rest of the day.”
“What time is it? Maker, what day even is it?
“Morning sometime,” I answered looking at the sun starting to rise through the already busy city. “I’m going to go find Obi-wan-“ her laugh immediately cut me off.
“You’re kidding, right?” She leaned on one elbow to look at me, raising one of her eyebrows at me. “Anakin, we’ve been up for days, and we probably got three hours of accidental sleep. I’ve barely seen you even eat a thing-“
“When have you started worrying about my well being?”
“I always have.” She snapped, “Don’t pretend like you don’t know that.”
I sighed, my exhaustion starting to get the best of me. “I’m sorry Y/N, I’m just so tired-“ She brought up the blanket patting the bed next to me.
“Come here Ani.” As much as I don’t want to keep admitting it, she looked so beautiful, and I just couldn’t resist. “You do too much sometimes, the planets will keep turning, just take one day off.”
“But if they need me-“
“Then they will come get you, and we will figure the problem out. But for now get in the damn bed and sleep.”
I hesitated, but kicked my boots off quickly, laying down next to her staring at the ceiling. I didn’t want to look at her, if I did I wouldn’t know how to look away.
“Sleeping does involve closing your eyes you know.” I turned my head to look at her, smiling at her remarks. She laid flat on her back, looking at me. “Come here,” she motioned.
“What?”
“Did I stutter? She said, “come here.” She repeated. I moved over, and she pulled my head onto her chest.
“Y/N-“ I started, unsure if I should pull away.
“Anakin, shut up and go to sleep.”
I smiled, and closed my eyes. Her hands slowly went through my hair. And for once, I felt truly happy.

Looking at the landing strip, I sighed. I didn’t want to come back, I longed for him of course, but I’m returning alone. Two of us were sent to deal with a possible lead on who was trying to assassinate the chancellor. I was the only one coming back. A member of my family, my friend, died saving my life. There has no body to bring back, nothing. The assailant fled, taking the fellow Jedi’s lifeless body with. I had no idea how to explain this is the council, none the less how to explain this to Anakin and Obi-wan. I know they wouldn’t be mad, no one would, but how do I explain that I was not strong enough.
I landed the ship and jumped out, landing funny on my already messed up ankle. I was aware of how I looked. My long hair homed dried blood, sweat, and my tears. My clothes were cut up, stomach on display due to my shirt being torn. I had cuts that ripped my pants all up my legs, a limp, and a slice in my lip. Yet, I wished I wasn’t the one returning. I should have died on that platform, it should have been me. The few people on the landing strip stopped what they were doing to stare at me. I said nothing as I slowly limped towards the door, my lightsaber smacking against my leg from where it was secured in my belt. My mind was swimming with stress and anxiety. There were big groups of people all chatting amongst themselves, but one group caught my eye. Anakin, Obi-wan, Yoda, and Windu all stood against a pillar, more whispering than talking. I walked past a couple of groups, who stopped talking when they saw me walk in, alone. Anakin straightened up when he saw me, knowing he’s unable to run to me without raising suspicions. Obi-wan studied me, as if he could read all of my secrets, Yoda, I knew, could on the other hand. I knew deep down he already knew what had happened. Maybe he even saw some of it happen. What I had hoped they didn’t see was the absolute panic that drove through my veins.
“Young master Y/N!” Yoda called, waving me over. I froze for only a second, hoping they didn’t see my hesitation. I walked over, straightening out my back, locking eyes with Anakin. The man I loved looked back at me, questioning me with his eyes. I looked away and towards Yoda.
“Reports we do need. Especially since alone you walk.”
I nodded my head, not saying a word. I knew how he was, he never truly gave you pity or sympathy. For that was I extremely grateful. He bowed his head to me, as I did in return and hobbled away with his stick and Master Windu, leaving me with Obi-wan and Anakin.
“Y/N, what has happened?” Obi-wan started asking me.
“Give her some space, she just returned and obviously she’s not-“
“We have no time Anakin, she comes alone. We need reports, we need to know-“
“Look at her! Clearly she’s hurt and-“
“Do not argue with me Anakin!” He shouted. I couldn’t handle this right now. Especially not them arguing.
“Since when are reports more important than her well being?” Anakin exclaimed.
“Since you two fell in love with each other!”
All three of us stopped moving, now more than every I just wanted to leave. No one was supposed to know of him and I, as it was strictly forbidden by the order. My stomach started to churn as Anakin reached his hand out to me. I said nothing as I started heading for my room. I need to get out of here. Tingling ran through my whole body and my legs became heavier and heavier with each step. I needed to go, and now. They both ran after me, and Obi-wan cut right in front of me. I didn’t have time for this.
He began to open his mouth, probably to scold me or ask about these stupid reports. I snapped.
“Oh for once in your life Obi-wan just leave me alone!” I shouted, taking him by complete shock. My finger tips started getting stiff and numb by the time I got to the elevator. I had no time to see the reactions they had from my outburst as the feeling of not being able to breathe truly hit. I stumbled to my door, busting it open and slamming it behind me.
Obi-wan, Anakin and even Yoda and Windu from down the corridor watched me almost run away.
“Death she has seen, regret she has” Yoda spoke as he then turned to face Anakin. “Go after her now, you must.” Unbeknownst to me, and probably even to Anakin, Yoda knew we were together before we even knew it, there wasn’t much you could hide from him.
…
He saved my life, I was the reason he died. I would have died and he would have had a change to run, why did he save me? His scream echoed through my ears, a scream of pain and terror. It played on repeat, and even when I closed my eyes to forget what I saw, it was like watching it over and over again. The one stray tear that left his eye as he died. I fell to my knees sobbing as I tried to cover my ears, anything to stop hearing his scream.
I couldn’t move, and I could hardly breathe. Was this how I was going to die? I was spared, saved, and I was going to die like this?
My head was swimming, it now sounded like I was under water. Everything around me was spinning, I couldn’t even make out my door swinging open. Or Anakin seeing me crumble, and having him run straight for me.
He knelt in front of me, taking his hands and gently placing them on my cheeks so I didn’t get startled. I could tell he was scanning my body looking quickly at all my cuts and bruises to make sure none needed the most immediate attention.
“It’s all my fault!” I choked out, “it-it was suppose-d to be me,” I stuttered out. “Why-why wasn’t it me? He could have-e left and escaped, but but he stayed and he saved me. I should have died out-out there, it should have been me. I don’t want to be here Anakin, please, I don’t, I don’t want to go and report what happ-happened I don’t think I can.”
Anakin’s face seemed sad, as if his heart hurt by the things I said. Or maybe he didn’t even understand what I was saying from the heavy breathing and stumbling over my words.
“Y/N, love, I’m here. You need to breathe for me, yeah?” I just heaved as he ran his thumbs under my eyes wiping away all my tears. “Whatever happened out there was not your fault, and you don’t need to explain yourself because I know I’m right. You’d never put anyone else in danger, you try to save everyone if you can. You are the kindest person I’ve ever known, and I knew deep down, from one of the first days we became best friends, I loved you. And each day one I’ve loved you more and more. You are so beautiful, and so smart. I fear I would have been long gone if you had not been there to pick me up when I thought my world was over. You’ve saved my life out there multiple times , and you’ve saved me when I couldn’t stand to look at myself. Now please, let me save you.”
I let my body fall into his, my breathing less erratic than it was. He hugged me loosely, so I didn’t feel trapped, and placed a hand on the back of my head. My body jolted with every sob I let out, and he didn’t say much after his speech. He just let me cry, told me he loved me, and kissed my head. His words played on repeat over and over again in my brain, slowly causing that scream to go away.
I was once again about to feel my fingers, I slowly wiggled them around, catching his attention.
“I know you’re scared and upset, but look at everything you’ve achieved. You are once of the best Jedi I’ve seen, and you are the bravest and kindest of us all. I’m so incredibly proud of you, my love.” He continued stroking my hair and slightly rubbing my neck.
The panic finally left my body, as I went almost limp in his arms. He gripped me tight as he noticed I was slipping, and gently picked me up. Carrying me to my bed he set me down, taking my shoes off for me, him following suit. He disappeared into my bathroom for a minute, coming out with a wet rag. I laid on my back and let him lift my shirt up to reveal some cuts on my stomach. Lightly dabbing, he cleaned up my stomach, then the bigger cuts on my legs. Finally he got to my lip, carefully not wanting to rip it open any bigger, he washed away the dried blood. When he was done he connected his lips with mine, kissing me so softly. A genuine smile was on his face as he looked at me, and for the first time that day I smiled back. He again disappeared to return the rag to my bathroom, and came back to me. He laid down next to me and pulled the blanket over us both. Snaking his arms around my back, he pulled me flush against his chest.
“Don’t go Anakin.” I whispered so faintly I don’t know if he heard me.
“Not until all the planets align. And even after that, I’d never leave.”
