Medical Aid for Palestinians
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
you can read more about their ongoing emergency response here
Responding to this emergency situation, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)’s team on the ground in Gaza are releasing all of our pre-positioned stocks, worth $570,000 USD (approximately £465,000), to ensure hospitals and emergency responders have the supplies they need to cope with an unprecedented influx of casualties. The list of supplies provided by MAP includes essential drugs and disposables, lab reagents and support for Gaza’s blood bank services. Some of these supplies are already being delivered to Al Awda Hospital.

Maybe this will be wildly unpopular but this is a show where nothing ends well.
Succession is about the dynamics of a family that has undergone intergenerational trauma and abuse. Logan was physically abused so badly by his uncle he has scars. So he thinks the fact his kids don’t have that level of abuse, means his behavior wasn’t abusive. Even though it was.
Now you have four children of abuse (I literally wrote three and then remembered Connor) who have pulled in Greg and Tom. Making six characters total who are all vying for love and validation from an abuser. (Now add the layer that Shiv abused Tom and Tom abused Greg and Kendall neglects his family and Roman sexually harassed Gerri so all of them furthering the cycles of abuse).
That’s how abusive families work. Kendall FINALLY says it last night, “the poison drips down”. Yes it does. It infects everyone, it corrupts their sense of who they are and how they understand love and kindness and vulnerability.
Yes they are abuse victims. Yes they are horrible people. No they will not really change or really win, and any small changes are readily undone. Because they have ducking trauma and a show about kids going to therapy and undoing their CPTSD this is not.
So when characters who only know how to survive at any cost, act like cunts who are trying to survive at any cost…what do we expect from them? THEY ARE BAD PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY WERE TAUGHT BEING BAD MEANT THEY GOT LOVE AND APPROVAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CONDITIONAL SO THEY HAVE GAMIFIED THE EXPERIENCE OF SEARCHING FOR VALIDATION (also I hate the characterization of bad vs good people but for the sake of a tumblr post)
Anyways, none of that excuses Roman dick riding a fascist and overthrowing the election.
But everything else that’s happened I get. So yes while it’s fun to baby girl everyone, when hurt people hurt people, can we really be surprised?

❤️😵‍💫🤷‍♀️excerpted from a little fictional/imagined narrative from that substack ? about the “first girl” to die in a slasher or horror film. i think the first girl is a necessary addition to the consideration/analysis of the final girl trope/archetype &how it intersects with gender, racialization, violence, sexuality, narrative structure, & so forth..

originality isn’t real. i’m here to exist and make random stuff & not try to claim invention. maybe constant citation & gesturing-at/towards & dedication & homage is where i’ll live. not theft (the way white men ‘s art love to take and take and take from literally anyone else’s) & not exploitation of a mythologized muse but maybe if i approach art/writing as less of an act of “creation” (scary) and more of a lifelong process of writing a love letter….to all the things & feelings & people & ideas & ghosts that inflect my existence….maybe that’s a more generous way to think about art. idk. “creation” not as a birth but as a monstrous art?? IDK.
