Nah nah nah but like the way that she came to this realization not only by talking and experiencing just being around her other selves, but seeing someone like The Harley Who Laughs and realizing that even She has an Ivy that effects her in the best way. That it's something so fated in her life, so unavoidable, that it's a thread every single one has connecting them and it's the one person who really stood by her and protected her and helped mend her while she was breaking, during the worst parts of her life, it's always been Ivy. Even when everything was simple and platonic, Ivy's her Friend. Her best friend. She gave her so much power over her just by letting her in and then gave more by making Harley immune to toxins.

why poison ivy is lesbian coded; a thread
From the beginning she was represented as feminist that hated men and used men to her advantage. The only times she's been written to be in love with Batman is because male audiences saw themselves as Batman and Poison ivy was their fantasy.
As we know, DC is afraid of confirming characters as queer because they could lose money, but they're also afraid of confirming characters as exclusively gay or exclusively lesbian because then they WILL lose money from those audiences they want to appeal to because you can't exactly put them into a "heterosexual" romance after confirming them as strictly gay/lesbian
As we know, she has only been in real relationships with women, but what about the times she’s been with men?
the times she’s been with men have been purely for what she could gain out of seducing them (money, something for her plants, something to help her plan for world domination, etc) and the other times she been with men was because she was brain washed. Literally. Literally brainwashed…this is one of the most notable series Poison ivy has been apart of (Gotham City Sirens) as it explores her character and her love for women (specifically Harley) and it addresses how ivy has only been with men for her own goals and being brainwashed
“Well what ab batman?🤓” As I’ve stated before, Male fans are attracted to Poison Ivy and that makes DC money when they pair the two together regardless of how in character it is. In fact, DC will literally pair any woman with Batman to make money.
Later on in Gotham City Sirens comes the iconic “Harley outting ivy as a lesbian in front of everybody” scene. Extreme lesbian coding on the Gotham city sirens creative teams part. You can go and read that on your own tho bc I’m out of image space ☺️
Addressing the people that say she can’t be a lesbian bc she’s kissed a man before, how many lesbians do you know that have never kissed a man? Bc I can tell you that it’s slim. People experiment, people experience comphet, and people use other people to reach their goals. That ideology also pushes the gold star lesbian stuff which is just lame.
Lots of people like to ignore her history of being a man hating feminist as well which is arguably one of the most popular lesbian stereotypes. in fact her hating men is one of the greatest examples of her comphet and using men, read here (Solo # 6 - Poison) she clearly equates men’s attraction to her as to what is manly and as to what she’s supposed to do as a woman. She even talks about how she hates women sometimes because she feels like she has to provide for the men because of them. Classic case of internalized misogyny and comphet …something many lesbians know all too well. I’m also aware a lot of people tend to stop listening to the “Poison Ivy Lesbian” argument when people bring in their own experiences but it’s true!! What’s she’s going through is what almost every lesbian has experienced!!
I’ve noticed that many hardcore poison Ivy fans (who consume other poison ivy medias besides EBKT/LOB/HQAS) agree that she’s a lesbian as well. Speaking of HQAS, The show is satire and they paired her with a man in the beginning because they're playing with the fact that her character is supposed to hate men. It's like how they made fun of swamp thing's character which made him act like a whole other person. A lot of people also like to use EBKT/LOB as proof of ivy being bisexual instead of lesbian as well, and I know people also like to tune this out as well but, the author of said comics has admitted that she doesn’t like lesbians (jokingly or not who knows) but either way it’s not her joke to make considering she’s admitted that she doesn’t identify as lesbian and has attraction to men. And even so, it takes place in the HQAS universe so 🤷♀️ take my information or leave it.
I'm fine with people headcanoning Ivy as bisexual, I just want people to know her deep and complicated history with being Iesbian coded.
(DISCLAIMER: don't take this the wrong way though, I am all for bisexual characters and I would love for DC to explore them more and actually show how beautiful and inclusive bisexuality is and actually show accurate Bisexual representation)
