Star Wars can be very similar to things we’re already used to, but getting familiar with some of these terms can make your writing really fit in with the universe

HARRY POTTER INFO

First things first– HARRY IS INSANELY AU, HE’S IN SLYTHERIN. THIS IS HOW AU THINGS ARE This unsurprisingly is going to affect things in lots of ways, some of which might not even be clear for ages. Because of this I intend to provide a lot of skeleton/outline work as best as I can but also allow room for partners to tweak and edit as needed so that interpretations can mesh. Harry in many ways is still very much his normal self, his core personality, likes, interests, opinions etc. are not automatically different because of the house change. He doesn’t automatically like Draco and dislike Ron or anything like that. In fact for many other slytherins it’s likely it’ll take time for him to warm up to them ( particularly the ones who are known bullies ) . His being in Slytherin opens up the opportunity for better understanding and friendships but does not guarantee it, just like it doesn’t mean he doesn’t actively continue to pursue and prefer / enjoy his friendships with his canonical friends like Hermione and Ron.

In many ways my interpretation of Harry is much more isolated and struggling from the off since he lacks the immediate support system of his canon gryffindor posse and instead is stuck with people like Draco, Crabbe and Goyle who actively hassle him. This only gets worse in 2nd year and all of this combined forces him to become more clever, planning and resourceful than we already see in the books. He still has his temper and his bravery, but is more willing to look at other options, bide his time, or swallow his pride if it means a win or just you know, not getting fucked up again for the 80th time

Yrael is the eighth of the Nine Bright Shiners. In The Beginning, Yrael chose to not take a stance against Orannis, and yet chose not to work with him, but went into hiding. The Seven bound Orannis and joined to create the Charter, but also found and bound Yrael in the form of Mogget. Yrael did not become one of the bells, yet has the ability to shape shift into many different forms, one being a small white cat; the other known form to be a small albino man with sharp teeth, a taste for fish, and incredible strength.

When in the form of Mogget the cat, he wears a red leather collar with a miniature Saraneth bell in Sabriel, and Ranna in Lirael and Abhorsen . The collar is his binding to the line of the Abhorsens, his punishment for not taking the side of the Seven against Orannis. When in the form of the albino, who has a name which is not revealed in the trilogy, he wears a white robe capable of cleaning itself (in Abhorsen, the robe had blood spilled on it, which then disappeared as he walked away) and a red sash about his waist, which has a miniature bell hanging from it too. The albino has hands, and Mogget used his hands to stop the bell from sounding in order to use the second chance Astarael gave him, and to catch up with Lirael, Sam and the Dog.

However, Yrael was released at Orannis' second binding by Sam, to allow him to choose again with whom he would side. He chose to throw his lot in with the binders and stood against Orannis to bind him anew. After the binding of the Destroyer, Yrael was released from his servitude using Belgaer, the Thinker. He chose to go north.

Lirael is the central protagonist of Lirael and Abhorsen. She also appears at the end of The Creature in the Case. Born into the Clayr, she was raised as an orphan from an early age, with little memory of her mother and no knowledge of her father. An outsider because of her unusual looks (dark hair and pale skin, the opposite of most Clayr), she is the only known daughter of the Clayr to not have the Sight. She eventually realizes her destiny is to become a Remembrancer and, eventually, Abhorsen. At the second binding of Orannis, Lirael stands for Astarael.

Kerrigor is the name of Prince Rogirek, a powerful Necromancer and Free Magic sorcerer. His name Kerrigor is 'Rogirek' backwards, a nickname given by Touchstone in their youth. During Sabriel, he had plans to destroy the Great Charter stones so that he could summon a massive host of Dead through the permanent gate that the broken stones would have created. He appears to be an immensely powerful dead spirit, far stronger than even Chlorr as a greater dead being.

Torrigan, who for the majority of the books is called ( at his insistence ) Touchstone, is a son of the queen of the Old Kingdom and is Sabriel's guardian and companion throughout the first book as she battles against and overcomes his corrupt half-brother Kerrigor. Torrigan was a part of the Royal Guard two hundred years before the events of the book, his father being a lesser noble whom the queen took as a lover after the death of her husband, Kerrigor's father. It is possibly implied that this northern noble, who died in a hunting accident, would become Thralk. Torrigan was sealed as the figurehead of a ship after Kerrigor became a necromancer and killed their mother and their two sisters. After Sabriel freed him, Torrigan was given the name "Touchstone", a fool's name, by Mogget.

Touchstone marries Sabriel and becomes king of the Old Kingdom between the end of the first book and the beginning of the second. He retains his moniker even as king and is known as King Touchstone I. Touchstone and Sabriel have a daughter, Ellimere, who will succeed her father as queen, and a son, Sameth. At the second binding of Orannis, Touchstone stands for Ranna.

Sabriel is one of the protagonists of the Old Kingdom series, and the primary protagonist in Sabriel. Her mother (name unknown) died shortly after childbirth. Her father is Terciel, who rescued her from the the Greater Dead Kerrigor in Death. Wishing to keep his daughter safe from threats within the Old Kingdom, Terciel sent Sabriel to live in Ancelstierre when she was young where she attended Wyverley College.

Sabriel  Shortly before Sabriel was to graduate from Wyverly College, her father delivered his bells to her through a Dead servant as he was trapped in Death. Sabriel returns to the Old Kingdom to rescue her father but quickly realizes that she does not know nearly enough about Charter magic or the Old Kingdom itself. After she gets directions to Abhorsen's house from her mother sending in Death, she leaves Cloven Crest and is chased by a Mordicant all the way to Abhorsen's house.

The house is beseiged by the Dead at Kerrigor's command. In order to escape she calls for the gift of water from the Clayr. When the flood waters arrive, Sabriel and Mogget escape in a paperwing. After being chased by gore crows the paperwing crashes and Sabriel finds herself in Holehallow, the graveyard of the royal house. She then frees Touchstone (Torrigan) from his imprisonment as the figurehead of one of the ships and they continue to Belisaere to save Terciel. She rescues him in Death, but he says that he will not be able to stay in Life for very long and that she must be the Abhorsen.

Nineteen years after the events of Sabriel, she is married to Torrigan, and is the Queen of the Old Kingdom with him as King. She has two children; Princess Ellimere, who will succeed her as Queen, and Prince Sameth, who was believed to be the Abhorsen-in-Waiting, but is now known to be a Wallmaker. At the end of Abhorsen, she finds that she has a previously unknown half-sister, Lirael, the new Abhorsen-in-Waiting and Remembrancer. At the second binding of Orannis, Sabriel stood for Saraneth.
