I'm stressed over the fact that so many adults don't know what veggies are.
Stems and Roots and then leaves that are the primary sources of nutrients when served.
Like Basil vs. Spinach. Basil is a herb because it compliments.
Honestly, leaf veggies I won't judge confusion with because technically (using it again as an example) basil is used sometimes as the primary green. Like in Caprese salads.
But too many people think pumpkin, tomatoes, olives, cucumber, etc... are vegetables.
Someone asked, "How aren't Olives veggies?"
So I said what I've already said in the post.
"Vegetables are the stems, leaves, and roots of a plant."
I included tubers and bulbs w roots, but I should probably separate that since they aren't roots. They are just attached to the roots. Also, I left out flowers like broccoli idky.
But what concerns me is people responses were. "A pumpkin/tomato/pepper/etc.. has a stem that makes it a vegetable right?"
No??? Those are fruit. The majority they listed being types of Berries.
Like I'm just concerned because one person was a lawyer, another was a homeschooling mom, and the majority were 30+ years old.
