My favorite piece of the LAC 2020 was video by Nic Brierre Aziz titled:

Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy (White Barbies).

It’s a montage styled doc that throws shade to the collecting market, as well as to museum structures which have looted the wealth of Africa via empire.

Thanks to Dan Crane and Omaha Creative Institute for including my piece in their group exhibition Y’all 20. August 10-24, with book release and closing reception on 8/24/18.

A talented group of artists showing here, excited I could participate!

Ranging from squishy, lush, genuine, oily fantasy-scapes to PDF-based, sharp, bitmapped, lurid xeroxes, Y’all 20 is sincere and sometimes ironic, but far from condescending. It considers the messy intersection of nostalgia (compassion, memory, community) and now-ness (space/time distance, social networking, reality). It is the inevitable bi-product of inspired devotion and hosts endearing, serious contemporary pop art. Twenty young, throwed Hammer Dawgs, presenting you with The Goods.
