Based off @sunnemona’s dreamtale au ‘The Apuldor Psalter’, specifically the section where they mention the babybones appletwins would probably have survival instincts akin to foxes,,, yeah that really stuck with me. Absolutely wonderful writing and in depth worldbuilding unlike I’ve ever read, the heavy religious imagery got me clawing at the WALLS /pos. I’m very invested,,, I need them to be okay and loved and I will put them in my pocket to keep them safe (they can not escape the horrors, doomed by the narrative, I am delusional)

Sketches of wood nymph Dream + Nightmare
Basically the forest was separated into two- one was marked by Nim’s Tree and the other was fully developed as the Village. A big canyon opened between both of them and prevented the two from mingling after someone tried to steal apples from Nim to take to the Village before NM and Dream were born. Big whoop.
Heavily inspired/based on Gunnerkrigg Court, a childhood favorite of mine.
Dream is heavily fey-like here and is a cult symbol, though he remains totally isolated and longs for friendship. Nightmare is rejected in the Village (more like City) and longs for acknowledgement. He is sent into the Forest of Nim to prove his worth and value through an impossible mission: to kill Nim’s Tree, and bring her apples to the Court.
Then he meets Dream, and he’s told that he belongs in the Forest as well- after being raised in the City all his life. And well, what could go wrong if he stays?
