The tournament is exactly what it sounds like, so submit your favorite 80s songs here!
What submissions count?
Well, as you might expect, the song needs to have been released during or in between 1980-1989. Keep in mind that popular songs and those that defined the decade or were significant in one way or another are more likely to make the final cut — sorry to those of you who have more obscure tastes!
I’m still trying to decide whether there will be a limitation on the number of songs per artists, but I will probably have a better idea the more submissions come in.
Other rules
Don’t spam submit the same song, but you can submit as many entries as you wish
I will do my best to reblog any propaganda tagged with my @
Be kind!
There will only be 128 songs selected for the tournament because I will otherwise lose my mind, so please be aware that if there ends up being a ton of submissions your song may not get in.
I will leave submissions open for about two weeks, or until the amount of submissions exceeds a quantity that I can sort through reasonably :)
Tagging for visibility but also because these tournaments are cool and you should check them out:
Do you also have the problem that you only come across fun tournaments once they've reached the semi-finals or worse? Or that you have the perfect candidate to submit but the submission period closed 3 months ago? I made this blog to try and fix that problem.
The idea is that tournament runners only have to tag this blog, so that I can reblog their announcement post, to gain traction and that tournament enjoyers only have to follow this blog to see all the new tournament announcements.
Tagging some currently running tournaments I know about to get the word out:
Adapting a work from one medium to another is hard, and fans are impossible to please, but occasionally, you get the adaptation that do the OG justice, perhaps even elevates it. We voted for what we hate at @book-was-better and @booktomoviebrawl, now we find the adaptions we love.
What Qualifies?
For the purpose of this tournament an adaptation is...
A work which transfers a piece of art from one medium to another.
Any medium counts as long as it's different from the OG (Stageplay to movie, yes! A new production of an existing stageplay, no!)
An adaptation must have the same protagonist(s) and share major plot points with the OG. There can be changes from the original but it should not be a spin-off. (Eg. Inteview With The Vampire TV series is still an adaptation but The Clone Wars is a spin-off.)
Examples
Book to TV, book to video game, light novel to anime, video game to anime, musical to movie, book to musical, book to radio drama (when it makes changes in content) etc.
Note: Since there are so many manga to anime adaptions that are basically 1:1, please only submit manga to anime adaptions if there's significant changes in content/style. Making up new endings would count as significant changes.
Exclusions:
LOTR
Harry Potter
Marvel/DC
Shakespeare
Fairytales
There are so many adaptions for some of these that they could have their own tournament.
Submission will open until 10PM August 30th, or when I have 100+ entries, whichever happens earlier.
BATTLE COUPLE BATTLE 2: THE BATTLE POLYCULE BATTLE
Does your favourite fictional polycule fight together in sync? Now we can make them fight EACH OTHER
You asked for it! (I made a poll and this one won)
rules
As usual, be nice because this is a silly poll and don't send legitimate hate towards the opposing ship
No HP and similar harmful media
Submit here
Note: I'm aware there's a fairly popular polyship featuring Hikari and Karen who won the battle couple poll. Unfortunately I don't think it would really be fair to include them but I may make an honorary mention post so you can submit them.
inspired by greats like @best-childhood-book and @best-kids-media-adult, this tourney pits the literary heroines of our childhood against each other in an all out brawl, searching for the greatest girlboss in the genre. Rounds will last one week, and submissions open TODAY! Submit HERE!
RULES:
YA doesn't count as kidlit- characters should be from anything middle grade or below. This includes picture books!
Girls only! trans girls allowed/terfs explode ect, you know the drill.
Comic books/graphic novels allowed, but still should be kidlit! For example, a character from Hildafolk would be allowed, but a character from the Sandman wouldn't.
Side and minor characters allowed
Characters don't have to be human but they do have to have to be girls. Sometimes a girl is also a computer or a train or an alien or something, and that's cool too!
No harry potter characters.
Bracket will be capped at either 32 or 64 characters depending on submission numbers, and then be determined by popularity.
Maximum 2-3 characters per series/fandom/author. If I get more I'll run qualifiers, because I know some have basically infinite characters- looking at you, Warrior Cats & Rainbow Magic.
things that were books first will be favoured over novelisations of movies, games, ect.
Everybody have fun!
This blog used to be fictional-train-fight (masterpost to be updated) and science-lesbian-swag-showdown (masterpost to be added). If you're looking for those posts, check their links!
Did your parents sit you down and make you watch all their childhood films? Do you have strong feelings about old movies? Do you like the 80s?
Then you've come to the right place! Submit your favorite '80s films here!
What count as an 80s film?
Well, as you might expect, the film needs to have been released during or in between 1980-1989. It's also worth noting that this tournament is primarily about well known films (movies directed by John Hughes, Rob Reiner, Steven Spielberg, and Robert Zemeckis come to mind). Not everything has to be a teen flick of family comedy or even super mainstream in general but it just has to be recognizable (someone please submit Blue Velvet).
Other rules
Don’t spam submit the same movie, but you can submit as many entries as you wish
I will do my best to reblog any propaganda tagged with my @
Be kind!
There will only be 64 movies selected for the tournament, so please be aware that if there ends up being a ton of submissions your book may not get in.
I will leave submissions open for about two weeks, or until the amount of submissions exceeds a quantity that I can sort through reasonably :)

Propaganda
Submissions:
Characters can be submitted in the google form linked. If you are not comfortable using a google form you can also shoot us an ask. You can submit as many characters as you like, but please do not spam the same character. This will not help their chances of getting in, in fact it might disqualify them from the showdown. If you’re not sure a character counts, feel free to shoot us an ask. Submissions will be open until at least August 1, but this is subject to change.
Disclaimers will be under the cut.
Disclaimers:
1.) Please tell us if we are using the wrong terminology or are doing something offensive, we are trying our best but are also only human.
2.) This showdown will probably be as big as we can logically get it, however we reserve the right to not include characters at our discretion.
3.) We will block without warning, please be civil when interacting with the content.
4.) If you have an issue with one of the characters feel free to send us an ask and we’ll figure out what to do from there. That being said this isn’t really about who is the best representation.
