Chris’ parents were killed when she was young and she was kidnapped. She was tortured and manipulated into working for the villain, who ended up betraying and abandoning her. Then she was slowly adopted by the heroes the same way you’d introduce a new cat. And that’s all season one.

She love her friends and singing despite her claims not to. Between her and Tsubasa we’ve seen the “realize you have feelings” arc quite a bit.

Elfnein is a doll created by a centuries old witch who wants to destroy the world after her dad was burned at the stake. Elfnein shares her memories. Where Carol took her father’s dying wish to “Know the World” to mean she should dissect the entire world so she could study it molecule by molecule Elfnein was like no let’s not. So she joined up with the good guys and was instantly adopted by the team’s support staff.

She builds them new gear and helps them figure out the villains powers. Classic guy in the chair/ smart guy stuff. She and Carol do eventually fuse but Elfnein is the one in control most of the time so it’s fine. She is very polite.

She is not allowed to eat sand, marker lids or luscious green vegetation and she HAS to finish her scrambled eggs because she needs the protein. She cannot read but she is fluent in every single language that exists including body language. She is part of a gang with her friends from school. Her friends are called Hot Sauce, Born in the Morning, beautiful Ruby, honesty and Kevin. She thinks flowers are sexy and likes having agony aunt columns read to her. She’s only had two tantrums in her life and she can’t even remember them so you can’t hold that against her. Just about everyone who meets her wants to adopt her, and she was adopted by three people in two bodies but we can adopt her too because she has plenty of love to go round and honestly she kinda needs the supervision. Or she’ll eat sand.

i don't expect her to win because gen 7 pokemon is a very niche fandom, but i had to submit her because her entire story centers around the relationship between mother and child, from both sides. first, she lives as part of a normal happy family with her mother lusamine, her father mohn, and her brother gladion. then her dad gets sucked through an interdimensional portal and her mother starts becoming more unhinged and abusive in the aftermath of that event. her brother runs away from home with a similarly abused experimental pokemon in tow, and things get even worse at home. Eventually, lillie builds up the courage to steal another mistreated pokemon (a little baby nebula thing from outer space she nicknames nebby) and run away herself. during the events of the game, lillie acts like a mother to nebby in a way that specifically contrasts her from most major pokemon characters, since she doesn't participate in pokemon battles for fear of pokemon getting hurt and doesn't even keep nebby in a poke ball, instead opting to use her bag to carry it. over the course of the game, she and nebby bond with the protagonist which culminates in nebby evolving into either solgaleo or lunala depending on the version during the climax of the story and lillie deciding to leave it in the care of the protagonist, since it's all grown up now and she doesn't think it would be as happy without being able to participate in battles.

Listen. Liste-N, even. N is in desperate need of a better family. He grew up with Pokemon, and was then "adopted" at a young age by Ghetsis, who wanted to use his ability to communicate with them. From the moment of his adoption, N was isolated from most humans and was only given the opportunity to speak with Pokemon who had suffered at the hands of humans. This pushed him to the direction of Pokemon Liberation- He believed by separating people and Pokemon, the world would be perfect. And Ghetsis only encouraged it, forming Team Plasma and crowning N as the king.

Believing N to be fully brainwashed and unable to be deterred, he set N out to preach and convince people to release their Pokemon. As the story goes on, N is challenged by seeing many people and Pokemon getting along and enjoying each other's company. He's stubborn about it for a long time- But when you finally beat him in the final stretch he finally starts accepting that maybe he was wrong- That maybe different ideas in the world CAN co-exist, as can people in Pokemon (though not needing Pokeballs is definitely still a thing he would like to happen.)

And this... Well, what do you think Ghetsis does?

He goes haywire! He calls in good-for-nothing, warped, defective, a freak without a human heart! My poor boy not only gets his worldview shaken, but the guy he considers his dad just loads up on the insults- No doubt to intimidate him! N deserved soooo much better than Ghetsis, which is why I'm submitting him for Tumblr Adoption. He is able to start healing later- Like look at his battle sprite between Black/White vs Black/White 2! He's smiling! And his encounter theme! It's so much more cheerful in BW2! It's not called "Prisoner to a Formula" anymore- It's "N's Theme"!!!! He so deserves blorbo title. From start to finish, a prisoner and tool to learning what he wants and who he really is! He's N, babes, and I'd give the world for him!!!!!!!!!!

Also he says "Burn, baby, BURN!" in Pokemon White while awakening Reshiram. This is so important. To me.

If we’re going for characters with bonkers home lives, Elphie has got to be up there. Depending on who you count as a ‘parent’ Elphaba has like five of them.

Her bio dad is super duper evil and keeps having her friends and family killed (to the point of like, having her dead boyfriend’s widow’s sisters executed, ten years after she’s made any active moves against him). He’s a literal evil dictator, so, bad look all around.

Her parents as far as she knows them are a nutty preacher who sees her being born green as a manifestation of his own sin, calls her a punishment from his god in front of her when she’s like seven, and openly favours her sister to an absurd degree. Her mother sort of just tolerates her, and is usually too high to even do that— also she was so desperate for a boy that Elphaba openly calls her younger brother, who her mother died without meeting, mother’s favourite child.

Nanny comes in to look after Elphaba and is the best parent she has in that she seems to care about her even a little bit, but she also ends up having to favour her sister. Also she is an employee, which narrows things down a little.

Her parents also have a boyfriend who she seems to like a fair bit, but he was human sacrificed when she was very young, so there’s that. Oh, and the goat professor she gets very close to, and then he’s murdered, and she has to break into the crime scene to save his research from being destroyed by her dictator dad. It’s a mess really.

Other important things include; her mother being so determined not to have another child who looked like her she took medicine that caused her younger sister to be born with a disability (and her being constantly blamed for it, in the musical), her parents deciding to raise her in a swamp despite her having a severe water allergy, and therefore presumably causing her constant pain. Her parents dragging her on missions where she apparently saw enough deaths to be able to competently recognise the signs at seventeen.

Oh, also her bio dad had her first boyfriend murdered, which led to her being pregnant in some kind of trauma coma in a convent. So that’s awful too.

Please ignore the propensity for domestic terrorism and the fact her hobby is amateur monkey surgery. We can work on that.
