Buddhism in Thailand
The official religion in Thailand is Theravada Buddhism, practiced by more than 95% of the population
Tumblr media
History of Buddhism
Buddhism originated in India in the 6th century BC, founded by Prince Siddhartha, who eventually achieved the ultimate goal of enlightenment. After 49 days of meditating under a bodhi tree, he became Buddha, or the “Awakened One.” Buddhism later arrived in Thailand from Sri Lanka. It became the dominant religion in both Thailand and Laos in the 12th century.

The dharma wheel, or dharmachakra in Sanskrit, is one of the oldest symbols of Buddhism. Representing the 8-Fold Path to Liberation...
The Four Noble Truths:
The Four Noble Truths are a contingency plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces -- suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. In Buddhism, desire and ignorance lie at the root of suffering.

Erawan National Park🍃
Tumblr media
Erawan national park is a significant National Park in Thailand. A few hours northwest of Bangkok. Founded in 1975 as Thailand’s 12th National Park, it covers an area of 550 km². The park is easily accessible by public buses from Kanchanaburi. Please see our "Get there & stay" section for various public and private transportation options from both Bangkok and Kanchanaburi.
Tumblr media
The major attraction of the park is the 7-tiered Erawan Falls with emerald green ponds. There are also several impressive and long caves within the park, some of them deeper inside the park, few of them along the roads around the park. The park and the falls are named after the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology. The top tier of the falls is said to resemble an elephant head.

Tumblr media
“Adorned with the golden hued temples and gigantic shrines of Buddha, Thailand is country blessed with pristine beaches, rich culture and friendly citizens. Complementing the beautiful amalgamation of the past and present, stand these magnificent Thailand caves which add to the beauty of this Asiatic paradise..”
1. Tham Lum Khao Ngu Aka
Tumblr media
Location: Lam Khlong Ngu National Park, P.O. Box 4, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand
2. Tham Lod at Pang Mapha
Tham Lod Caves are situated about 8km north of the small town of Pang Mapha (Old name Sop Pong) which is about halfway between Muang Mae Hong Song and Pai. Plan your visit around 5-6 pm. each evening, the cave mouth spews hundreds of swallows and bats, as the nocturnal critters welcome the night and the insect meals it brings. You can view their evening departure from outside the cave, or inhale their ripe odors as they flit around their cavern mansion during daytime. This area has a huge variety of things to do; caving (alone or guided), kayaking, exploring the beautiful landscape with its valleys and limestone cliffs, visiting remote hill tribe villages, and watching the bird show in nearby Tham Lod cave.
