So sue me, i love bucky’s broken brain fic. But seeing Bucky slowly come into himself, seeing how old Bucky slots into the leftover space of new Bucky is just so satisfying to read.

While sometimes I didn’t feel like I knew where the story was going in the beginning, just trust the process, trust the author and go with it - all reveals itself eventually!

I also love stories where the relationship between Bucky and Steve build slowly - where it takes theim time to be brave enough to admit what they both feel and let themselves fall.

It’s a story that moves from sadness and confusion to acceptance and happiness.

I don’t know why this one hit me in the feels so much, but it really made me cry. I really enjoy fic where an outsider gives a glimpse of Steve and Bucky. It’s set during the war, right after Bucky is rescued. His doc is also gay and recognizes it between Steve and Bucky. The author just writes about love so eloquently and i think it just breaks my heart to think of people not being free to love who they want, without fear of discovery.

Okay, so this is art that goes with a new favorite series, 4 Minute Window by @cesperanza.

It’s a series of small vignettes that explore what Steve and Bucky’s life in Brooklyn might have been like, if they had just been able to live their lives as they wanted to. If Bucky had been able to “rescue” Steve and they lived a secret life in Brooklyn.

What I found fascinating about her characterization of Bucky and Steve’s life was how they were living a life that was both in the past AND in the present, artfully illustrated by the things they surround themselves with in their basic Brooklyn apartment, and what they called things: the fridge was an ice chest, they had a percolator, Brylcream, and a phonograph; they preferred the landline and checks; they furnished their apartment with refurbished “antiques” that would not have been out of place in their homes growing up. But they also had TV and cell phones!

There isn’t a huge overarching mystery or drama to the series- most of the stories are just little glimpses into their lives. But it’s still a story about Steve struggling with what his responsibilities are and how to keep this small life with Bucky but also contribute in big ways.

My 2nd favorite part of the series is the artwork by @artgroves that are sprinkled throughout the series - it was as true delight when they popped up, really making the story come alive.

Bucky was just lolling back against the plaid sofa with his pants open, waiting to hear whatever Steve was going to say. Except Steve had no idea what he wanted to say.

I didn't have time and spoons to read a lot this week (between sadness, being busy, and scheduling a lot of recs there was not much room for reading). But I did read a couple of wonderful fics that I am excited to share with you all. As always if you enjoyed the fic, make sure to give the author some love if possible 💖

So, this happened!

A few weeks ago, i found out Sebastian was going to be at New York Comic Con for a day, signing autographs and taking photos. Despite my anxiety about ACTUALLY meeting him, I decided to go up for a quick trip with some fellow Sebastian fans to meet him. Having never been to a con before, I had absolutely no context for how it was going to go. And honestly, it's such a bizarre experience, i don't think anything anyone could have told me would have adequately prepared me for the experience (except maybe some role playing, lol).

In life, i think of myself as a fun, charismatic, funny person in the right situations. Suffice to say, this was NOT the right situation and none of the best parts of my personality were on display during the times I met him.

All the advice is: just be yourself! which is hard when your self-consciousnesses does not allow you to be your best self! So, I while i wished i had been able to let some of anxiety over how people perceive me to just say something, anything to him, i hope i learned something about not giving a fuck, bc i will regret giving fucks when it’s over.
