Nintendo SNES Classic Edition
I have to admit, after playing it for a few days that I think this was a really terrific idea, and my friends and I have had a lot of fun replaying old favorites. It’s also cool getting to try the classics that we didn’t get around to. I have no idea whether or not Nintendo will be re-releasing any other classic game onto this system, but I know that if they do, I’ll be sure to pick it up at B&H!

Time is scarce and precious. When the new Apple Watch came out two years ago, I was the first one to pick one up from BH Photo Video. That worked out so well that I went back for an upgrade. The guys there helped me pick out an Apple Watch Series 2 38mm Smartwatch with a sleek silver aluminum case and a pearl, woven nylon band).

Meet the Diana F+ Lomography Camera
A relatively inexpensive film camera that makes a great gift for people that want to recreate the nostalgia and magic of another era.
If you love all things retro then you’re bound to fall in love with the Diana F+ lomography camera.
The nice thing about this camera is that it is super light. Think about how many times you’ve left home remembered you’ve forgotten something non-essential, thought about turning back, but didn’t because you didn’t want to weigh yourself down or risk losing a really expensive piece of equipment.
Tumblr media
The Diana F+ comes in a variety of colors and designs. The teal/black version costs under $70 while special order items range about $90 to $100. B H Photo carries a wide variety of lomography Diana F+ cameras and awesome accessories like masking filters, fish-eye lenses, cases, and more.
The Diana F+ medium format camera offers multiple and partial exposure flash options and two shutter speeds. It has a removable 75mm lens and a zone focusing system and pinhole function. The camera has multiple shooting modes that allow you to capture 12 or 16 shots per single roll of 120 format film on 2 x 2" or 1.7 x 1.7" frames.
Another cool feature is Endless Panorama which creates one seamless image by putting sequential frames next to each other.
The camera comes equipped with the Diana F+ flash that adds to its retro look and color gel filters that give you an even greater creative boost. If you want even more options to think about the lomography 20mm fisheye lens and the lomography Diana+ Splitzer masking filter for shooting multiple exposures. This lense’s spinning blades only expose certain parts of a picture at once and then expose the other parts. It allows you slice an image into halves, quarters, or eighths.
One of the perks of the Diana F+ is that as your skills improve or as you get deeper into this addictive hobby, you have a lot of add-on accessory options to keep you excited and engaged.
So what do the photos look like?
If you’re on Instagram, snap a photo and apply the Lo-Fi filter to get a rough idea of what your images will look like when developed.
While developing film is an expense, if photography is your hobby and you’re looking for a fun, creative outlet, then the Diana F+ right be the right camera for you. Not sure if the Diana F+ is right for you? Want to buy add-on accessories, but aren’t sure which ones are best for your needs? Reach out to the in-store and online lomography experts at BHPhoto.

Zoom H4nSP 4-Channel Handy Recorder (2015) Review
I always wanted to do my own podcast, and my parents got me a Zoom H4nSP 4-Channel Handy Recorder last Christmas from B&H.
A lot of what I do on my show is talking, and the recorder is more than adequate for that, but I use it as a microphone for my show. You can switch the 4HN from mono to stereo because the recorder’s microphones are at 90-degree angles to one another which lets the air pressure in the room recreate the sound of the space you’re recording in. It’s really good to have if you want your podcast’s acoustics to feel more authentic or like a talk radio show.
Tumblr media
Getting the recordings onto your computer is great because you can either plug in your recorder into a USB port and just drag and drop it from your hard drive, or you can even take out the SD card and take it with you - which I did a lot whenever I had to edit the audio at a friend’s house.
If you’re looking to get into podcasting, and you don’t have own an SDHC card, or a microphone cover, B and H also sells those in its “Essential Accessories Kit” along with a USB cable and an A/C adapter which comes in handy if you’re recording near a power source and want to save the batteries. If you want to go all out you can order a Mic Clip Adapter for the H4N so you plug it into a stand.
Over the last six months, I found myself trying to expand the sorts of things I did in my show. I added some music, and sometimes a couple of amateur drama-skits in my backyard. My first instinct was to buy more equipment, but I went to the B and H Photo live chat and one of the support people, Steve, told me I didn’t have to buy something new, and he walked me through how my device could be used to do just those things. I’d like to repeat that: The B&H salesman was more concerned with the customer’s well being than the profit margin.
Apparently, a lot of journalists use the H4N for recording the news. If you’re a videographer, or film student, and want to record off-camera audio this is one of the best devices to do it with. You can use the video camera to record whatever it is you’re saying, and then wear the recorder on your person – that way, if there’s outside noise like a fire engine or airplane, you can use the Zoom’s audio to cancel out any noise that occurs. It also has two balanced inputs so you can plug in other microphones and instruments into it.
It also provides phantom power to anything that requires a power source. I burned through a lot of AA batteries using it outside, but if you purchase the “Essential Accessories Kit” with your H4N from B and H, it’ll also come with an A/C adapter. I usually just leave it plugged into the wall. I can only say that investing $5 in an extra pack of batteries is money well spent. I once got to do an interview at Comic-Con, and I hadn’t switched out my batteries, and then when I wanted to start I had to run outside and get new batteries. It was an embarrassing lesson to learn, but I only needed to learn it once.

The Ring: The Next Gen Doorbell
The Ring Video Doorbell does more than just identify neighborhood ding-dong ditchers, it allows you to see who is at your door from the convenience of your smartphone whether you're at home, at the office, or on vacation. Using the Ring app on iOS or Android smart devices, you can see and speak with a delivery person, solicitor, service worker, family member, or guest.
For instance, if you’re expecting an important package that you need to sign for, you can keep an eye out for FedEx without having the look out the window every 10 minutes. You can also use the Ring to identify contractors and other service workers who you've schedule and hired to do work in your home or on your property.
The Ring video doorbell can be connected to your existing doorbell's wiring. If you don't have a doorbell or your existing wiring doesn't work, no worries, the Ring has a built-in rechargeable battery which gives you the flexibility to install it anywhere. For example, if you own a home with multiple entrance ways, you can place the Ring in whichever area you choose; so if your house gets more traffic at a back or a side door, then you may want to consider placing your Ring doorbell where activity is at its highest.
Tumblr media
All you have to do is connect the Ring doorbell to your Wi-FI network to get started. The Ring makes monitoring your doorstep a breeze. The wide-angle lens gives you a clear view of what's going on in front of your home, and IR LEDs let you see what's going on at your entrance even in the dark.
The Ring also has built-in motion sensors which activate the camera and send alerts to your smartphone when movement is detected.
Additionally, every Ring Video Doorbell include a free 30-day trial of the cloud video recording service. The basic plan starts at $30 per month per camera and the protect plan costs $100 per month for an unlimited number of cameras. It depends on how big your property is and what your needs are. If you never want to miss a moment and want to monitor more than one entrance, then you may want to purchase the protect plan.
The Ring Video Doorbell comes in multiple finishes at B and H Photo, including antique brass, Venetian bronze, polished brass, and satin nickel to complement your home's existing hardware. So if you're looking for peace of mind and a way to keep track of the people you enter and exit your home, the Ring allows you to see, hear, and interact with the people who come knocking (and sometimes ringing and ditching) to your door.
Not sure if the Ring Video Doorbell is right for you? At B&H Photo, our online and in-store experts are always ready to help.

A Smarter, Self-Testing Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm for Your Home
Working and well-maintained smoke alarms help save lives and protect against injury due to fire. At B & H Photo, we carry the Nest Protect Wired and the Nest Protect Battery-Powered Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Most people buy one or two smoke alarms and think they are fully protected.
According to the American Red Cross, you should place smoke alarms on every floor of your home and outside sleeping areas such as a living room, playroom, or kitchen. If you keep your bedroom doors closed, you should place a smoke alarm in each bedroom.
Tumblr media
The Nest Protect detects smoke and carbon monoxide. The nice thing about this smoke alarm is that you can silence it using your smartphone. The Nest Protect (like Siri or Alexa will) give you an early voice warning if it detects smoke in a certain area of your home. Let's say you're making breakfast and the butter you're using to fry pancakes starts smoking, Nest Protect will give you an early voice warning, "Heads-up, there's smoke in the kitchen." If nothing in your kitchen is actually on fire, you can simply silence the alarm from your smartphone. Isn't nice to know that you can say goodbye to the days of standing on a rickety chair waving around a dish towel to get your old school alarm to stop its high-pitched chirping?
Another nice feature is that everyone in your family can know the smoke or carbon monoxide status of your home. When something goes wrong, Nest Protect will send an alert to everyone in your family who has created a Nest Account. So if you're at school, work, shopping or out and about on the weekend, you'll all still be in the know. Family members who have their own Nest account can use their smartphones to silence and test the Nest alarms in your home.
The Nest Protect tests itself. Smoke alarms should be tested monthly, but 9 out 10 people don't. The Nest Protect silently checks its batteries and sensors hundreds of times a day. It also used self-tests its horn and speaker once a month. During Sound Check, the Nest will make a brief sound and listens with its built-in microphone to check that its speaker and horn are working. The test only lasts 5 seconds. You can set a preferred Sound Check time, so you're not disturbed, and if you have multiple Nest Protects in your home, they can be set to self-test at the same time. You'll receive an alert from the Nest app about 5 minutes before you're scheduled Sound Check.
The Nest Protect will even illuminate your way at night when you walk under it- convenient if you need a glass of water or need to use the bathroom when your home is pitch black. So if you're tired of old school smoke and monoxide detectors and don't check to see if your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working, then it's time for a Nest Protect wired or a Nest Protect battery-powered smoke alarm.
Not sure which Nest Protect is right for you? The online and in-store experts at B&H Photo Video can help you choose the right smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for your home.
