Vicken Parsons depicts a combination of fictional and partially-recalled places. The borders of rooms suggest complex and even confounding spaces. Shifting perspectives challenge the stability of perception and simultaneously invite, and occasionally prevent, the viewer from imaginatively exploring these rooms. Parsons omits objects and inhabitants, depicting the architectural skeleton of an interior. However, a sense of presence is conveyed through the use of light and shadow to lend the paintings an atmosphere of intimacy, memory and mystery as well as pictorial depth.

This week has been so fucking great. To continue from my last blog, I went down to Dublin to see Kim Gordon’s exhibit in the Irish museum of modern art, and see her band, Body/Head, a noise guitar based double act of Kim and Bill Nace, preform in the courtyard of the IMMA museum. It was a special night and something I will never forget. Kim standing on s speaker that was no more than 2 inches from me was a pretty cool experience lol. Funnily enough, I found Kim whilst searching for a McDonald’s. She was incredibly nice, as well as shy. She said hi and we spoke a little about body/head as well as sonic youth.
So I got to the museum at 6:00 after waiting for the press list getting sorted out as Kim and bill walked into the venue. we all finally got in and I saw Kim and and her daughter Coco eating at a bench in the grounds of the museum. After a while, once everyone was pretty much inside the courtyard, I saw Bill come out into the centre, no one seemed to know him or be bothering with him so I took the chance to go say hi. He was really friendly. We spoke about body/head and he took a pic with me.
The show was great. First up was a girl called Heather who played improvised slide guitar. She was really great and had an excellent voice. Next up was a good friend of Kims called Elaine. She read some of her poetry and even got Kim and Coco up to read a poem with her.
Next up was Body/head. It was insane. An hour of raw, completely improvised, loud, wavering guitars being hit, flung, pushed into amps, dropped... I enjoyed every second of it,  Seeing body/head live is completely different to how it seems through video and it was something I will never forget. Hearing guitars circling around you, the pure raw energy of Bill Nace and Kim Gordon being transferred into sound is entirely unique, and special.

Brainscan is one of my favourite movies of all time. It has that 90s low budget vibe and a strange but amazing story.
